When I spoke to geniuses at the store and the Senior advisor on the phone, they all said I was the first person they'd had with this issue. So idk how aware Apple even is of it.
Which is why sites like Macrumors need to write about it to bring some awareness

I can confirm native apps are still not launching after a clean install and set up as new watch on 6s+ running 9.1 beta 4. So ridiculous..

I wonder if Apple dropped the ball in not releasing the beta to the public. I mean, come on, did every single beta tester's watch run native apps no issues???

i think the problem is that there were NO native apps out on the appstore for the devlopers to test out during the beta testing period, there was not a single Native app on the app store, so how could they have tested out native apps?

Some of the people who had this problem had no problem pairing with another phone. It's sounding more and more like that might play a key factor.

I keel wondering if the device name has anything to do with this. My first time following the instructions in this thread, my first thought was to rename my phone to what it used to be and the next series of steps didn't work. I tried again but this time was conscious of that for some reason and gave the phone in your name. No issues. Perhaps luck perhaps not.

I'm currently sending Apple Engineering my bug reports but from the looks of it, they have no idea what the problem currently is.

I'm also having the same problem. Sending in my apple watch for "repair" but it's clearly a software issue

My watch is becoming more and more unusable as more apps are becoming native.

Apple should let me return the watch, totally unacceptable.

Hey everyone!

I'm back with a solution that works 100% but won't fit everyone.

All I did was install iOS 9.1 beta 3 on my iPhone and set it up as new, as well as setting my Watch as new too - all apps started working. This solution should also work for iOS 9.1 beta 4.

I lost all my activity data and achievements, but that's OK for me - the serenity of all the apps working on watchOS 2 is better for me - and boy, do they work faster now!

I'm still recovering my data but I think it was very much worth it. Good luck to you folks!

Were you able to install your backups afterwards or will that make the apps stop working again? Because it seems that for some people in here they can restore their devices and get the apps working, but as soon as they then install their iCloud backups the apps will break again

These suckers should give us each an Edition watch as compensation :D

FIXED after 2 phone calls visit to the apple store it is fixed.

So here is the story, called apple sent files, never called back, called again the guys reset watch, unpaired didn't work, told me to take it to apple store. took it in, unpaired my watch and paired to new phone, they couldn't install apps and, paired a new watch to my phone, and it had the same issue. So i figured out it is not the watch. came home. I did the following

1- Unpaired the Watch
2- Backed up Phone to iTunes (This way you have the latst watch backup)
3- Reset the phone settings from the phone. (General> Reset> Erase All Contents and Setting) (I have iPhone 9.1 beta 2)
4- Setup up the phone as a new phone
5- Paired watch as brand new
6- Downloaded and tested one Native app and to see if they work
7- Reset watch from the watch (Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings)

Now to get your data back

8- Reset the phone settings from the phone. (General> Reset> Erase All Contents and Setting)
9- Restored the phone from backup on iTunes (I don't have the apps in my iTunes, so they were downloaded Fresh during Install)
10- Paired my watch to the restored iPhone
11- Restored the watch from last back up on the phone

all apps except web MD works.

hope this works for every one

Just spent the best part of 3 hours doing this - and it didn't work! I'm going to cry!

Just spoke to apple support, she said about 1 in 10 people are having this problem, she's forwarded it to the engineers and she'll get back to me soon. Not holding out much hope though, she didn't have any idea how to solve it once I told her all I'd done to try and fix the issue. :'(

So my native apps are now loading on apple watch. The only thing I did differently after unpair, repair cycle was to install each app individually instead of allowing all of them to download automatically. Not sure if this will fix anyone else's but mine seems to be working now. Good luck!

Did you uninstall the apps from the watch before you unpaired it?

I gave up on waiting for Apple to fix this bug. I just did a reset of both the phone and the watch and set them up as new devices. I was still having some trouble with apps launching after doing the standard erase all settings and content. I had to connect the phone to itunes and do a restore, which reinstalled ios 9.0.2. Once the OS was reinstalled, I disconnected from itunes and set both devices up as new.

I'm in the process of slowly getting all my apps set back up. I've lost some of my data, but at least native apps on my watch are working now.

Facebook messenger just got released for the Apple watch and it's a native app so we can't use that either because of this stupid major bug

Hey guys so I just talked over the phone to Apple Support once again. This time, the Support told me something different then trying to let the Engineers find the problem.
He said that my problem clearly sounds like a Apple Watch hardware problem and that I will get an appointment in my nearest Apple Store and that they will look for a hardware problem, repair it or give me a new Watch. What he said was that I will leave the Store with a working watch either way, whether they would fix it or simply replace it.

The Support guy now hinted at a Watch based problem, because I got the "old" iPhone 6 from my dad. His Apple Watch worked fine with the phone all the time, but now that I have it and connected it with my Watch, I still have the problems, even though his Watch worked totally fine connected to the phone.

Apple support doesn't have a clue about this.
I've called. They blamed that the developer's apps are not update their apps for the latest software yet.

ARE YOU F**KING SERIOUS?

I've got 2 Watches in my household with the same problem! I am helping the bug fix team out with a ticket through the bug reporting system. Got to send them my logs. I got it to work by setting us as new, but the problem came back when I restored my Watch from the Watch backup on the iPhone.

That sounds very strange. 1/10 people is a lot so I'm surprised so many people in here report Apple sounding surprised every time they are told about this issue. You'd also think there was more coverage in the media if so many devices were affected.

But if true then good for us since Apple can't ignore it then

I was very surprised by that figure too, the lady was very apologetic, but that's about it, sending it up the line, just like everyone else who have had this problem. :S

As someone who's had this problem and resolved it, I feel pretty strongly that it's a software issue...though if Apple wants to give me a brand new sport watch or allow me to upgrade to SS, who am I to argue? :)

I turned off and back on the location services for both apps and both Dark Sky and City Mapper now work. Actually for some reason City Mapper had to be re-installed on the watch where as Dark Sky didn't.
By turning off Location Services on both apps Dark Sky and City Mapper seemed to have resolved the native app running problem. Thanks Mr. C

Huh? Can you elaborate on what you did step by step?

I just disabled location services for citymapper on my iPhone but citymapper still doesn't launch on the watch.
