It’s not about me. it’s what almost every iPad user wants. Check the surveys...

But if it makes you happy: “Yes, it’s about me, me, me! I rule!”
(Isn’t that what you wanted to hear? Go ahead, start your whining...🤣)
I’m with you man...battery life is king. Luckily I don’t have dainty little hands so I can handle a couple more mm.

I absolutely love the rounded corners on the ipad and big sur..... and it makes it feel so much friendlier than utilitarian Windows which i sit in front of most of the day.
This is especially true on the Apple Watch. The rectangular screen on the Watch 3 looks really old school, and not in a good way. The curved corners of the 4 and up look much better IMO.

Nah. There are reasons why Apple's top-of-the-line monitor is LCD and not OLED. OLED is great, and I want it in my iPad, but it can present certain problems for content creators and their applications.

Interestingly, our favourite Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is saying that next year the non-Pro will go OLED, but the Pro will remain mini-LED.

Not every OLED suffers from burn in though. Mini-LED is just not worth getting excited about.

Monitor displays, and those on phones/tablets differ quite a lot. OLED is far superior to miniLED. There are barely any burn in reports anymore for a few years, which means OLEDs have become amazing. I'm sure if Apple added it to the iPad it won't be an issue.

But when it comes to monitors, the display will be ON constantly far longer than your typical phone/tablet (which you turn on and off multiple times a day) which means you're at a greater risk for burn in. But the industry has just started releasing more and more consumer grade OLED monitors, so it's only a matter of time until Apple does it too (but I'm sure they will actually rather wait for microLED)

miniLED can be worse than IPS LCD in certain scenarios, mostly when it comes to dark scenes.

I had wanted an 11"... but I can't deny, if the new screen tech is only in the bigger one... well, that might be my next purchase.

Will it still fit in current Magic Keyboard and Folios or do we have to buy new ones? It will be a bummer if we have to get new ones.

I really hope the current Magic Keyboard works on the new iPad Pros. Small increase in thickness and same overall dimensions and camera size? Please don’t make us buy a new one 🙏🏼
I hope the same. Although, judging by the aggressive sales at Amazon and others (11" Magic Keyboard for $199, etc.), it's likely they'll be revising it.

FILING IMMEDIATELY:

I’m kind of amazed this is always the popular response. Did any of you buy iPhones over the last several years? Every year from 2014-2020, six generations, the iPhone got thicker and heavier. Jony was very much in charge of those during that time. Now he’s gone and they’ve just gotten thinner…

Damn, the 2018/2020 are just stunning devices to hold. 0.5mm increase won’t be much, but hopefully it doesn’t add to the weight by much.

Really curious to see how they play up this miniLED backlighting and how it really compares to the current LED backlighting in the iPad Pro. I’m a sucker for display improvements but for some reason this hasn’t really piqued my interest.
Added thickness is great since my current 12.9 iPad could hold a glass of wine without spilling a drop.

Like you, I've got a 2018 12.9" iPP that I want to upgrade, not because it's lacking performance, or that I think the mini-LED is going to be vastly superior (I think the existing screen is fantastic as is), but the reason I want to upgrade is battery life just isn't cutting it now. Especially given it's my daily work device and I'm starting to travel again, so I really do need a device that can get through a 12-14 hour day unplugged.

Hopefully the potentially thicker iPP is because of added battery capacity. If they can't eek out more usable battery life, I'll end up getting an M1 MBA for work, and I'll just use the iPP for after work use.
Maybe check with Apple Store to see if they can change the battery. Going to save you hundreds of dollars

Well, the “thicker because of mini-LED” is likely coming from folks that just have the drawings and making guesses :) Could be thicker due to periscope cameras or battery?
I was referring to the screen, but you're guess is valid as well. Just the article is formulated in a way that it's thicker due to the Mini-Led.. well not that big of a deal

I still think not including the mini LED on the 11” iPad Pro is a HUGE mistake. The whole point is for people to pay UP for the Pro iPads! The 11” is going to lose sales because the perception is why pay over $1,000 for the 11” ipad pro when i can get a regular ipad. I really hope this rumor is wrong.

I don’t like it. 0,5 mm sounds tiny but it feels a lot.
after having used the larger ipad a lot, I feel it is more a desktop tablet than something you want to carry / hold a lot. In this sense weight and thickness get less relevant. I guess it depends on what you want to use it for.
I will get one but it wont be leaving the studio.
