So how do we get rid of the update file that’s downloaded to the HomePod but not installed yet, that’s the question...
I looked around at iPhone Storage but couldn’t find the update to delete. It allows you to delete system updates like that.

Weird how macrumors is the only site really letting us know about this. The rest of the Apple ones I follow on Twitter are silent.

Mine were working earlier except with music. But thought that was due to Apple Music having problems. Will see tomorrow. All I know is not to reset. Although I did unplug to restart when I was having music issues.

Gotta say I hate the HomePod app. Finding settings isn’t that intuitive. I thought things had gotten better after months of having to sign in repeatedly to get HomePod to play music.

Great hardware (though limited it sounds great). Lousy software. That’s been HomePod.

Nine??!! Oh my god.

The reality is, the culture at Apple has changed. People’s jobs used to be on the line under old leadership (Steve), now the culture is “you made a mistake, try better next time”.

With Steve, there was no next time because the product shipped in working order, no questions asked, otherwise you were shown the door.

Apple has softened up its management, that’s why their products are bug-ridden.

I hate to beat the “Steve would have never allowed it” line to death...but it’s just true.
This is incorrect. Steve was part of antenna gate on the iPhone 4 I seem to remember. His response was we were holding it wrong and the solution was free bumper cases.

So your point is moot.

Mine works after the update. But the new features did not show up anywhere. So I rather wont reset it.... Thought SW updates could not get any worse after Catalina release this year....

Boy who I was wrong....

I hate to be that person, but software quality has really gone down this year.

First, if I remember right, an early beta of iOS 13 was bricking some iPhones.
Then an iOS 13.2 beta was bricking the iPad Pro.
Some betas of macOS Catalina were having incredibly long install times on newer MacBooks.
The first release of macOS Catalina had an issue with the setting up your Mac screen.
And now this.

Great job, Apple. I understand most of these issues were on betas, but still, the quality control should be a bit better than what it currently is. And feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of those issues.

Wow, one single HomePod is available only, compared to maybe 15+X iPhone versions to be supported. Yet it seems to complicated even after the extended timeline. No good job to be honest.

So for those of us that updated successfully, we know we can’t reset our HomePods because they will brick. Do we wait for 13.2.1 to arrive to avoid bricking if we have to do a reset
Have to imagine this will be resolved in 48 hours or less. For those people who are currently stuck bricked.... Idk what they're gonna do for them. I feel like the only option is for them to take them all back, tap into whatever diagnostics they can, get them up and running and ship them back out... But boy does that sound like a disastrous process.

As a Brit now living in New Zealand with a HomePod from England with an adaptor, I’m thankful I cancelled my update earlier! No Apple stores in my country, can’t exactly take it back!

Mine was updated automatically. I went to the home app and it was asking me to setup voice. I exited the app real quick. I haven't reset or reboot it.

What should I do?

From what I’ve been reading the last 9 hours or so, DO NOT reset it, and it should be fine!

Yes, my update has also been downloaded to the homepod and it says install. I want to delete the downloaded update from the homepod, like you can in iphone storage. Anyone knows how?

I guess I was lucky. Mine didn’t brick.
more glad that as I got my HomePod imported from USA to India, so there was no way for me to get it replaced.

This baffles me as well. How can you NOT be able to support A SINGLE model?

Agggh... two Homepods updated ’successfully‘ to 13.2.
What do I do now = both are powered on, but haven’t been used?

Guys be careful!!! My iPhone 11 has been stuck on Apple’s logo from 8pm to 7am this morning so I struggled to reboot it with power button, it didn’t update to 13.2 and now it is stuck on “preparing update”,

there is something wrong, I live in France it seems iOS 13.2 is broken.
First time this happens and I had had all the iPhones since 3GS I recommend not to update.! Lucky I woke up and didn’t miss work 🐣

All 9 of my HomePods are dead. This might be the straw that makes me defect to Microsoft. And after ordering the new AirPods this morning I'm just in utter shock at this point that they allow this to happen.

Where do you even begin in discussing a software update bricking $3,000 in speakers and they offer a certified replacement unit because of their foul up? This is a new record low in my opinion and might move to Sonos if this is what they deem as acceptable. Singlehandledly 5 hours ago turned my smart home into a brick.

@TimApple, unbelievable!!!

Can you update 1 see it bricked and stop updating the 8 others ? For good sake ?

The OP’s-updated post should have read iOS 13.2 for the HomePod l (aka BrickPod) has been pulled, however, for the iPhone, it is still available.
[automerge]1572332830[/automerge]
So ios13.2 was removed just for homepod, or for iphones and ipad as well?!
Exactly my point.
