No, it's not the 10875H- Apple isn't using an 8-core CPU. This wouldn't be the first time Apple uses a previously-unpublished Intel CPU.
Intel doesn’t keep the ARK updated as soon as Apple releases a new computer. @smulji and a couple of other users had the 411 on these unpublished CPUs that Apple is using in the 13” refresh.

Core i5-1035NG7 and Core i7-1068NG7

I got my first MacBook Air after saving for two years (only had enough to buy half of it, I was 12 at the time,) and it was the only laptop that has lasted more than 2-3 years of use.

Countless chromebooks and Windows laptops (ones from Dell, HP and Surface[book]) have fallen since, but now it's time to finally upgrade.

Those 4GBs of RAM and the 128GB SATA SSD served me well, but as I go off to new places in life I'm excited to finally purchase a new 2020 MBP with 10th gen and 1TB.

Hallelujah!

They should have just axed the 13" base Pro if they were going this route. The $1799 option is better than the previous $1799 option, but you hit the nail on the head. People looking between the Air/base Pro have a decision to make. Personally, I am just going to wait longer before I upgrade.

I wish the entry MBP was a more clearly defined product. It is really the continuation of the original Air, with the same class of CPU... but since it has to share a name with the $1799 MBP it can't get upgrades that make it shine.

The butterfly keyboards are gone, but all the MacBooks are feeling the effects of the 12"... and deciding to call it MacBook. The MB Air became the 2TB MB Pro... the old 13" MB Pro became the 4TB MB Pro, then the 12" MB became the new MB Air... with the new MB Air not really being that much smaller than the 13" Pro...

As others have noted, there's probably going to be a whole shakeup in product segmentation when ARM Macs are released.

Same integrated graphics, same 13" screen, same everything except for the processor upgrade. Disappointing but maybe next year we'll get a real upgrade 😞🤷‍♂️

I have the 16”, and while the keyboard is much better, I do miss the mechanical keyboard I have at work. This is a respectable upgrade all around - although 256GB is starting to be too small for most users. My iCloud photo and music libraries would eat that for breakfast.

If / when I buy a new laptop, I want it to last 5 or so years. That means using the latest CPU, Wifi and bluetooth.
I don't care about wifi 6 because unless you have fiber it's irrelevant. What I was hoping for was a GPU and screen upgrade.

Lots of people posting as if Wi-Fi 5 routers all over the world are going to stop working or disappear and suddenly be replaced with Wi-Fi 6 ones. What is the obsession here?

Same price, more storage and/or RAM.
I'd say it is a decent upgrade, like the one for the MBA last month. Big redesign is coming in the future

Will wait to see/read comparisons of the i5 Air versus the base MBP. There's only a 100 dollar difference between the two. I remember last year comparing the base Air and the base MBP and thinking the Air was better because of the speakers, the weight and build quality, and the lack of a Touch Bar.

Did Apple make an error on their product page? I don't see any listings for a 2.3ghz base, 4.1ghz turbo core i7 4-core processor that's 10th gen.

I do see an 8-core 5.1ghz turbo 10875H. Is that it?

The default configurations are actually not bad now - helps with them providing a decent size ssd and ram. I may get the base 4 1tb port one to replace 2018 mba.

This whole corona thing has helped Apple in terms of avoiding the limelight, they're doing a whole lot of madness behind closed doors. First with a rebranded iPhone 8 and now this.

I hope this dents their pockets. Can't be going around giving people substandard products.

Anemic approach with not updating the low end MBPs.

Only - and 100% foreseeable - outcome is that MBP, users in need of an upgrade, will bleed to another eco system.

With that approach, Apple might as well link directly to the XPS 13 on Dell's webshop.
...and save a bundle. For example, the HP Spectre x360 has a quadcore i7, 4k OLED, 2xTB3, 1xUSB-A, mSDXC, 16gb RAM and 1TB SSD for $1689 - a $310 savings...

This isn't true. The integrated graphics are noticeably better than the previous model's Iris Plus 645. The RAM for the 10th gen model is also way, way faster DDR4 memory. Plus the huge improvement with the keyboard (new switches, physical escape key, t-shape arrows) and the lower costs for more storage and upgrades.

My credit was waiting too; I was expecting a 14” display. Thank you, Apple for saving me money! I am still carrying my late 2013 13” MBP (I purchased when 13” was finally available with 16GB RAM).

The fact that they didn't squeeze the bezels down to to give you 1" more screen is a dealbreaker for you? lmao

I'm glad Apple aren't taking cues from you if you don't see how the iPhone SE is going to sell millions of units because it's one of the best smartphone deals going right now.

Its more then that.. much improved CPU, iGPU, RAM, configs now come with double the storage and RAM as previous versions, Magic Keyboard, and the weight is 3.1 lbs so might indicate a change to the thermals like they did with the 16"

It's an upgrade but to me the "Pro" should at least have dedicated graphics. I remember when Apple decided to cut that out of the smaller MacBooks and I didn't like it then and don't like it now. If I was going to buy a 13" it would be the Air. If I wanted something with more power the 16" is the only option

I know you're probably right that for the majority of consumers it's not an issue but... This is a MacBook Pro that starts at $1299. Not including WiFi 6 is a cheap move by Apple and just shows how much they are half-assing this release. This is a computer that most people keep for more than 5 years and it's Apple's best laptop in the 13" range. It would have been understandable if a lower-end laptop didn't have the best specs but there is simply no excuse for Apple here other than being cheap and lazy.

Apple doesn't want you to keep that computer for 5 years. They want you to upgrade as soon as WiFi 6 is added to it.

Yes, it's an 8-core i9. ;)
It's just not the latest generation.

True, but Comet Lake-H only offers a minor bump over what you have. It'll be a while (this winter, if we're lucky, but probably longer) until new Intel CPUs in that thermal class become interesting again.
