Others venders are doing it for laptops even smaller. Keep up with the times.

Show me a 8 core 15/28W 13" laptop. I don't ever recall seeing one.

Only machine I can think of is this thick beast with a 35W AMD chip:

And it's chunky to help with the thermals.

My 16-inch MBP processor has just become outdated...

Kidding, it's an 8-core i9. ;)
It's just not the latest (10th) generation.

What about WiFi 6 ? Does anybody know if 10th gen option supports it ? I recently upgraded my router and both iPhone 11 Pro and iPad Pro can benefit from WiFi 6, but not the newest MacBook "Pro" ???

Only Apple could market a two year old laptop at $1299 as new. Even the MacBook Air has a tenth generation quad core starting at $1099 and the Dell XPS has slimmer bezels, 10th gen and WiFi 6 for $1199. I don’t understand what they are doing with the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
I have a feeling the new 14 inch later this year is going to be ARM based, this is just holding them over until then to get rid of the butterfly keyboard and abysmal ssd sizes

Yeah the new 13" MBP makes a maxed-out Air seem way more compelling. I am not sure that was the intention.

A passive cooled air with a peak all core clock of like 1.5Ghz?

Yeah, no. The 28w 13” chassis is actually equipped with proper cooling.

I see a ton of complaining from people here who frankly have no idea what they are talking about spec wise.

I doubt it. I think we will see a ARM MacBook this year, but it will take a while to transition the whole lineup, including the Pro models. It could also depend on how Tiger Lake performs and how the future APUs perform.

Guys. I just realized the new base MBP has DDR3 RAM. The base MBA has DDR4.
Because the base MBP did not receive updated CPUs. Still 8th gen, which supports DDR3.

Because the upgrades are silly and over priced a windows laptop for same spec is half the priced i like macos but come on they could of at least slimmed the bezels
The 4 Thunderbolt 3 port 13" MBP just got its DRAM doubled to 16GB and the base storage doubled for free, it got the latest CPUs and it got the Magic Keyboard, at the same price. And yet the largest complaints here are about bezels and a 14" screen that was a RUMOR. People here need to get a grip.

WWDC should definitely be interesting this year! Hoping to see a new 12 inch MacBook with ARM. Now that would be intriguing

That’s because the base MBP is still using 8th gen Intel core processors.
But they’re touting it as ‘new’ on the Apple website, all because of the fixed keyboard.
Doesn’t look like anything else is new for the two TB port editions of the 13’, not sure why they even bother now that the MBA has 10th gen CPUs across the board.

Hmmmmm... a maxed out MBP or a very good used car..... hmmmm........View attachment 912000
In fairness, how many people need 4TB storage, 32GB RAM, even the i7 which is just a higher binned/ faster clocked i5 in this case... the $1,999 model should be more than enough for most people who would be looking at this sort of machine. The really high end upgrades are there to cater to niche use cases, and those niche users will willingly pay as they will be essential to making money with the machine :)

Agreed, it's a mistake from Apple that will become the new norm which cultivated by Tim Cook.

Well, was waiting for this day. Now I’ve made a decision. My daughter graduates HS next month, and I wanted to get her a new laptop as a grad gift/for college. We both looked at the new Air on Saturday. She said it sounded good for her, but I told her I was waiting for the rumored MBP update.

Now, I know we are going to go with the Air. Nothing wrong with the MBP, but for what you get at that price, the Air is a much better deal for her use.

Who needs sustained load across all cores on a laptop? o_O

Nobody. People need good battery life, they need a good screen, they need a good keyboard, they need good speakers.

Nobody purchases a laptop to run sustained workloads across all cores. If someone needs sustained workloads across a bunch of cores, go use Google Compute Engine or Amazon EC2 to run your workloads, it's way cheaper and more performant than a MacBook.

The 2TB port MBP is such a weird product... it seems to exist just as a way to lower the entry price. It's clear Apple wants the 13" MBP to be a $1800+ device... but they don't completely ignore the entry model. It just gets updated at a weird cadence. The 2015 and earlier 13" MBP used to be decent value in the Mac lineup, now the 4TB model is probably the worst... and the pretty good value 2TB model is only minimally updated.

I kinda wish it was downgraded to function keys... I'd probably get that instead of the new Air.

Glad the whole lineup is done with the 128GB ssd... that took way too long.

this is a refresh. and the finish of butterfly keyboard.

Later, I guess March 2021, Apple will launch the 14" inch, thinner bezels, mini led, wi fi 6, new web cam, maybe new design... And this is the part I don't know, AMD or ARM processor. My doubt exist, cause I don't know if the ARM transition will be first on the MacBook, and later on the Macbook Pro.

The same will happen with the 16"

Don't be fooled.
The two entry-level models are still on 8th gen CPUs at the same prices; meaning you have to pay more now to get the 10th gen.

I not fond of Apple behavior on this one. On some low end iMac is also suffer case like this, when latest chips only employs on higher end configuration. The problem is, some people really doesn’t care especially if they non tech savvy person, making it was new products but actually older model from previous years.

Can someone explain why Apple puts 802.11ax on the iPhone 11, but not on the Mac Pro and on the MacBooks, which were all released afterwards? It seems to me that Wi-Fi 6 is both more important and easier to implement on a computer than on a phone?

On iPhone, Apple creating their own chipset and have freedom to integrate controller they want to include, including latest 802.11ax controller.

On Intel side, it might a bit complex. Apple have less control over Intel chipset blocks and diagram.
8th~10th Intel chipset only allows 802.11ax through their native socketed CNVi module, which is not used in MacOS. Apple mostly using Broadcom for wireless controller on Mac, and integrating additional third party wireless controller might be PITA for Apple since all controller now is soldered into logic board, making any controller changes might need Apple revised some logic board design.

On older generation MacBook/Mac Pros it have socketed wireless card. Upgrading from them from 802.11b/g/n into 802.11ac was piece of cake back then. But today it no longer possible, all wireless controller soldered.

You really need to revisit the poorly chosen AI you use to auto generate your posts. Is it possible it can generate something that is more than a single spastic sentence that equates to "Apple dumb, Tim Cook bad"? If not, try tweaking the parameters a bit.
