now it is better to wait. I think March will be the month.I've repeatedly come darn close to ordering either an existing Intel-based 27" iMac or just given in and gotten the 24" for the M1 chip because my late 2012 iMac is running sooooo long in the tooth. This might give me just enough hope to hold out a little longer.
You can buy an iMac with built-in VESA mount adapter from Apple if works better for you. Search for 'apple.com iMac vesa mount'.I owned a 2015 model and sold it last year. Have upgraded several 2012-2014 models for friends. I could live with the non-adjustable display, but to have to blindly reach behind the computer to access any of the USB ports is plain stupid.
The 27-inch display makes sense. People have to understand this is an all-in-one machine. Consumers buy this to save space in the first place. If it were 32-inch, it would significantly reduce the number of desks it fits onto.
It would be cool to have a 30+ inch model for people who want it, but as a current 27” iMac owner I gotta say I would really not want anything bigger.
At 27”, it takes up a lot of desk space and the panel’s large enough that you can’t really look at the whole screen at once from a normal viewing distance. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great computer, but it’s already really big. 32” would make it even more of a niche product.
Given that 5K@120Hz is not possible yet, do you think these rumors of 27 inch iMac with ProMotion mean Apple will go down in resolution?
The bezels on an iMac, even slimmed down as they are on the 24, are larger than those on a MBP so it’s unlikely the new 27 iMac would have a notch. There is sufficient room for the hardware in the slimmed bezels of the new iMacs. What are the odds it'll have the notch like the new MBPs? Let's hope not considering how much people have complained about that.
Chins are a design feature. Moving hot parts into the chin keeps the display uniform.Hopefully a black or space grey version. And would be great if it didn’t have the chin at all, make it thicker and hide it behind the display, not under it. No notch would also be a plus.
Yes and no…I would like something like a 30” myself, but they have sold macbooks that are at a 2” difference for years and it’s always a big debate, do I get the 13 or the 15…now it’s do I get the 14 or the 16.Still feels like 24" and 27" are too close in size for two AIOs. I'm still of the view that it will come in something like 30" or 32" (or, 27" and 30/32) and will believe this until the official announcement says otherwise.
It’s almost a 3 trillion company. I’m sure Apple gets the #1 priority. Pretty sure they have it all figured out by now, Money talks!Yeah come on Apple you should know better then trying to release anything new in the midst of a worldwide pandemic with a global multiyear chip shortage affecting every corporation on Earth!
Still feels like 24" and 27" are too close in size for two AIOs. I'm still of the view that it will come in something like 30" or 32" (or, 27" and 30/32) and will believe this until the official announcement says otherwise.
As you're already aware the M1 pro and Max are awesome chips. You'llSo it'll be M1 based then, was kind of hoping for M2 but still excited
Apple did make a 27" iMac Pro before. They can do so again.
I'd also rather it start closer to $2499 with a 27" 5K panel than $3499 or $4499 with a 32" 6K panel.
My theory as well. The current iMac 27 inch allows for up to 128 GB of RAM, but the M1 max does not.For an iMac? Why is this bad? An iMac Pro would have dual M1 Max chips.
I mean, at one point the iMac came in 15 and 17 inches, then 17 and 20, then 20 and 24.Still feels like 24" and 27" are too close in size for two AIOs. I'm still of the view that it will come in something like 30" or 32" (or, 27" and 30/32) and will believe this until the official announcement says otherwise.
How bout a $2999 30" 5.5k Panel?
