The new AirPods cost $266 directly converted from my own currency including taxes. It's an insane amount of money for something that doesn't even provide premium sound quality.

In any case... I'm disappointed that there was no update on the volume controls.

NO new pink sand battery case for the XR, only for the XS and no new cases for XR only for XS Max, Apple sure as hell don’t care about XR buyers

I hope the next version has soft/interchangeable tips. Just can’t get the current hard plastic version to be comfortable for any length of time.

The leakers predicting every release this week have been right so far, so I think these are more of a minor Airpods 1 update and Airpods 2 proper are coming later?

I’m also re-reading the product page over and over because I’m not sure if it means they have any improved sound quality over the original, or just the latency is lower.

I still don't understand why people pay so much for what is exactly the same sound-wise as the standard included earphones. I got the BeatsX and they are cheaper and have way better sound, combined with the W1 Chip!

Same here, the AirPods are poor for music. I got the BeatsX first and love the rich bass they give, got some AirPods at Christmas for use with Podcasts and handsfree calling which they work great at but the music sounds like its coming from a tin can, just no bass at all.

I’d probably have waited for next gen but the batteries on mine are absolutely fried, waiting another 6+ months would be a struggle. I even contemplated buying another set of first gens a few months ago, glad I waited.

Use them a lot, strictly for podcasts in quiet environments and phone calls. Love them, but although I’m not an audiophile by any means, find them utter garbage for music.

May return them, dunno, but I banged in an order in case they become back ordered for months.

And are free for S10 buyers. What apple are becoming is disappointing. Clearly they aren't going to stop with their horrible pricing
They’re not free for S10 buyers. They were a promotion for pre-orders only. That deal is gone since the phone is released, so you can no longer get free Galaxy Buds. Even then, that promotion was only good from Samsung's site or app, not from anyone else. The current promotion on the Samsung site is a subscription to Spotify Premium. Yuck.

$30 AirPods knockoffs like the i10 TWS manage to provide Qi charging on the case as standard.

Apple's desire is clearly to always have some configurable option at checkout to make insane margins on. AirPods don't have a SSD or DDR4, so it has to be the case.

Ordered w/wireless case, expected delivery Mar 27-29.

I've had my OG AirPods since launch. The battery life is totally shot. I get <30 min on a full charge.

I never thought about that.
Actually Tuesday 23d occurs also next month. Maybe the availability date of the new iPod? If they're really going for the synchronicity thing... Ofc I may be totally chasing unicorns here but Apple wouldn't choose a random date for an ad like that.

Am I the only one who could care less about a wireless charging case? I use my airpods every day and normally only need to charge them like twice a week. I really don't see the benefit, maybe, once the iPhone can wirelessly charge other devices I'll care.

You’re not alone. Currently, wireless charging requires relatively careful placement on the charging mat, and it’s easy to bump devices so they don’t charge. The benefit is a somewhat cleaner “charging area” without loose cords. If they had a special charging mat that looked nice and could charge everything without worrying about placement, then it would really be nice to have wireless charging for all devices. Then you could charge multiple devices without having a rats nest of cords on the desk or night stand.

So 2 more days = 2 more products..
new Apple Watch bands? AirPower? iPod touch.
They can’t let the last day be a new iPod touch. It’s anticlimactic lol. Nobody wants a new iPad touch lol.
We know we are getting new Apple TV hardware next week..
could they surprise everyone with a new Mac Pro since it’s a media focused event?
I feel like they are teasing us is going to do something big that fundamental changes the apple ecosystem going forward.

My guess is iPod touch tomorrow and AirPower on Friday.
There will be some bands too, they may come on Friday too.

2 years wait and all that was a tiny upgrade. Only reason I could tolerate airpod is the excellent call quality, but it still leaks sound and fall out of my ear. I am buying galaxy bud instead...

Apple today in a press release introduced new second-generation AirPods powered by an Apple-designed H1 chip that enables hands-free "Hey Siri" functionality and up to 50 percent more talk time compared to the original AirPods.

The new AirPods are available to order on Apple.com and in the Apple Store app starting today with a wired charging case for $159, the same price as the original AirPods, and with a wireless charging case for $199. Both options will be available at Apple Stores and select resellers starting next week.

The wireless charging case is also available individually for $79 for use with both the first-generation and second-generation AirPods.

Good news hope airpower is coming soon!

It’s a ‘nice to have’ option (particularly for heavy users). Hence the strategy of offering two differently priced variants.

Also, you mean “couldn’t care less”. That’s the phrase, not “could care less”.
