But how many times have the rumors been wrong? To everyone who didn't buy based on rumors, do you say, "Ha - you just lost another two months you could have been using new hardware"?

By the time anything actually ships, there are new rumors about newer stuff just around the corner. It's enough to drive you insane.

yes....it will drive you insane! :eek:

Yeah, but if I buy right after an update, then I won't worry about missing the next one. Right now it's too far from the last one, since it's not an emergency I've got to wait it out.

The Apple Store MB product page says it comes with Tiger, so I guess they will update that when they update the page tomorrow

I'm not convinced about the chances for an update tomorrow. Don't they usually have pretty long shipping times on products that are about to be updated...? Unless it's going to be a completely new product. :confused:

But if an average Joe, who doesn't know anything about the frequenzy of Apples updates, goes to an Apple Store and gets himself a fine, new white and shining MacBook one day and on the next day visits apple.com to show his guys at work what he just bought for $1299 and finds out that Apple has updated the cpu's, the graffics and maybe something more - don't tell me that he can only blaim himself! Customers are used to comercials telling us to buy the New And Revamped Product That Are So Cool God Could Sh*t Her Pants To Get One.

I am aware of how Apple do their updates. When i bought my first Apple product I had the day before thought of placing an order of an iPod nano (1st gen). But I was at work and I had forgotten my credit card at home, so I figured I'd do it the day after.

When I came back to work that other day, with my credit card in my hand, I found out that not only had they updated the entire exterior - they had doubled almost anything and in the same time given it a lower price tag! I was delirious!
Since then I've always kept my eyes open at places like this.

Macbook is :apple:'s top seller! They need to get it refreshed for holidays!
Mac mini has been updated recently (2 months ago)!!

I'm happy if the update comes tomorrow:
* Santa rosa
* bigger hard drives
* X3100
* No combo drive

That's enough for me!
Of course I would be glad with a new black aluminium design and backlight keyboard...but I doubt it! :eek:

I'm totally with you. I'm more realistic in my expectations. SR, HD bump, X3100, and a minor speedbump.

Macbooks are the company's bread and butter. MBPs for MacWorld, and maybe even Macpros. It's all about target demographics. MBs for the holiday crowd, MBPs/MPs for the professional crowd.

Completely new product is correct my friend! Trying to get all the old MB out of stock. I noticed that also...get ready ALU MB!!

Apple.com is getting ready to change the leopard homepage from the macbooks to the iMacs. What does that mean?

It's still MacBooks for me, on both the US and Canadian page. (Yes, I CTRL + F5'd)

Yeah me also. But i just happen to be on site and I saw three iMacs with leopard screen. then I refreshed and the macbooks came back. Im not pulling your leg

Did i catch something

I have a final revision 12" PowerBook (see specs in my signature) that is getting older and I might be ready to part with it depending on what we see tomorrow/November 6.

In any event, I'm wondering why people think we're looking at 2.0 and 2.2 GHz processors. Is that what this "Santa Rosa" series comes in? Aren't they 2.0 and 2.16 now or am I a bit behind? I haven't really been in the market for a new laptop in 2 and a half years.

Why does everyone like the brushed alum so much anyway? I had so many casing problems with the Powerbook and had to send it in so many times for that. They actually replaced my machine after 4 times. This one isn't as bad. I kind of like the black plastic.

I have the May 2007 Macbook, do you guys think it's worth upgrading?

I'd definitely upgrade if the case was changed or its slimmer etc.

But if it's just SR I'm not too sure...

Too soon to tell. If it is just a SR upgrade I wouldn't. But I am just waiting for the update regardless because this will be my first Macbook.

LED, give me f*cking LEDs on the MB :) That, along with the updated graphics and hopefully a superdrive on the low end model will have me very pleased. i actually like the white and black casings, i mean to make them a little more refined is fine but i prefer just having the aluminum for the pro models personally...

Yeah I'll definitely upgrade if they do a LED screen update too.

Things I want: :)

Base Model:

2.0GHz Core 2 Duo
1GB Ram
120GB HDD
Superdrive
Slim Alumium Case, LED Screen with slimmer frame around screen
X3100

High end model

2.2GHz Core 2 Duo
2GB Ram
160GB HDD
Superdrive
Slim Alumium Case, LED Screen with slimmer frame around screen
X3100 (Or maybe even a 8400MGS upgrade? Yeah dream on ;) )

I don't even care what comes out anymore to be honest! I just want a damn macbook. I CAN'T buy one because the new one is comming out soon. I guess I'm lucky that I decided 2 weeks ago to get one, but everyday this drags on more and more and I just want the damn thing with Leopard so I can use Back To My Mac and get the hell off of my dad's POS vista laptop. I'm sure others are feeling the same pain as I...

I keep hearing people wanting LED backlit screens. I have to ask something I've been wondering... Does anyone know the price difference? I don't. If it's anything significant it won't happen. And I highly doubt it'll happen before May. I don't see them putting what seems to be a major feature on the MBP on the MB until there is something else to differentiate them more, especially after the SR bump.

Ditto. If the update makes enough difference it might be time to put down my trusty dv6000t and switch... I'm just hoping the quality of the display is better than the current macbooks. I find them somewhat grainy
