I get not including chargers anymore but not including the cables is BS. But there's a price reduction so there's that, I guess?

Why? If you accept that people already have chargers, why is accepting they also have the cord that completes the charger going too far?! Seems logical if you got the charger you got the cord.

Anyone else remember when the white iBook used to come with an Apple Remote? They packed in a few extra adapters and that extension for the power brick as well. Steve was alive then, he wanted his products front and center. Wanted them easy and ready to use right out of the box. The same people saying, “I’m ok with this” are the exact same people outraged that BMW would charge a subscription fee for heated seats. Enjoy your double standards, this company isn’t starting to resemble the failing apple of the 80s. Refute it all you want, but you know it’s true.

Fun fact, the original Apple Remote from my iBook still works on my newish Apple TV.

I am not outraged about it and won't act like I am. But it is crappy of them to not include the cable. It is just them looking to make extra money. And it is weird to me when customers defend it or even celebrate it.

From Wikipedia:
“E-waste is considered the "fastest-growing waste stream in the world"[7] with 44.7 million tonnes generated in 2016- equivalent to 4500 Eiffel towers.[3] In 2018, an estimated 50 million tonnes of e-waste was reported, thus the name 'tsunami of e-waste' given by the UN.[7] Its value is at least $62.5 billion annually.[7]

Well said and so true!

I'd also add complaining on a public forum gives people a little burst of feel-good power, something that's otherwise lacking in their life.

Sadly, that burst of feel-good power dissipates quickly, and needs to be replenished daily.
Imagine being someone that's posted almost ten thousand messages on a message board talking about how other people's lives are lacking.

This is what happens when someone pushes and you give in instead of pushing back.

Apple, like any other profitable business, will hike prices and decrease product value until the market doesn’t yield anymore.

Vote with your dollars instead of compromising again and again.

Hilarious that some people are using the "price drop" as the reason for excluding the cable.

If you aren't buying this, you don't really have a useful opinion in the first place. And if you are buying it, and you're happy (so happy you're defending it) with having to now pay extra for a cable, well I guess you may be a masochist.

I can already foresee the day when iPhones will not even be shipped anymore!

Pre-order / Order and pickup at the store, Naked iPhone only! No packaging included.. ' For the environment ' obviously..

Which type of cable are the people who are complaining wanting?

C-to-C? If they don't already have one of these cables, what is the likelihood they have a C power adapter or a machine that has a C port? What are they going to plug this into?

C-to-A? Why would they go back to any A port for charging?

Seems the easiest decision is for you to get your own cable for your specific need.

I’ll play devils advocate.

It’s a universal port now. This is literally what you all wanted and it’s a standard. When you buy a hedge trimmer it doesn’t come with an extension cord. It’s a universal plug it’s your responsibility to have the extension cord. Same thing with Type-C. You have the plug you are expected to have the cable.

Not seeing the outrage. That’s how standards work. You own things that plug in you have power cables/extension cords. You have technology you have Type C cables. No company is responsible for providing either to you.
