If I was Apple, I would announce the updated Apple TV and right after that, drop the bomb of launching Apple TV+ TODAY and FOR FREE
OR the new Apple TV at a cheaper price when purchased together with an Apple TV+ subscription OR give one year of TV+ when bought together with the new Apple TV.

However, we all know Apple so it will probably be:

new Apple TV starting at only 299$ while making the current 4K one „more affordable“ , launching TV+ in December for 9,99$ for one user

Also, yes i agree. The remote sucks! Either I hold it upside down in the dark and wonder why it doesn’t work or I keep pressing the damn search button instead of going home. Those buttons should be flipped!

The amazon device is superior in every way (stated as an Apple consumer) and cheaper. The only place the AppleTV is better is being a HomeKit hub. I was blown away by what the FireTV 4K stick does for the price and I can airplay to it with an add on app

Which app is that? I'd be interested in trying it, I have a Firestick 4k in my home office and it works well, Airplay on top of what it already does would be a killer extra. Thanks in advance.

I use Apple TV to get iTunes 4K and to get Dolby Atmos from Netflix 4K.

I have the Netflix 4K app on my TV, but I don't get Dolby Atmos over ARC. eARC would solve that problem, but that would require that I buy a new HDMI 2.1 receiver to support eARC.
Bingo. I use my ATV into my receiver for the best audio. TV's ARC is too limited. So I use external boxes and never touch the built in tv apps.

I also don't have an issue with the remote. I guess I don't understand the complaints. It works great for me.

I can see a new box with a faster chip for their gaming push. And 8k TV's are starting to come out and with prices that aren't totally ridiculous. Perhaps they're going to try to get a jump on that.

Yeah, I'm not sure what additional horsepower it needs. It runs 4K films in HDR. Is Apple Arcade only going to be supported on a new Apple TV? I can't imagine they want to go down that route---they need as many people to subscribe to services as possible.

Maybe they've had an epiphany and realized that charging 2x the cost as competitors for products that are the same or not quite as good has gone on for far too long and they're going to align their pricing with the actual value of the products?

Or maybe they became the 4th most valuable company in the world by offering mid to high-end products, and they plan to stick with that.

I don't want Apple to offer cheap(er) stuff.

I understand the Remote and sensitivity of where the cursor lands, but you get use to it pretty quickly. At least for me. It hasn't been a sore spot to me. Maybe because I don't have giant hands? Occasionally I shoot past where I intended when scrolling. But I imagine that could be fixed with sensitivity adjustments? IDK.

I configured the sensitivity so it's less of a problem, and I use my iPhone or iPad when I need to type. My bigger gripe is you can't quickly tell which way 'round the remote is without looking or swiping. Minor tweaks to the shape and texture could improve it for me.

Right, their products are top tier. Are their prices ‘consumer friendly’? Absolutely not, but that’s the difference between what Apple offers in terms of hardware quality versus the competitor in some respects, they deliver a better product, but you pay for that better product in terms of construction and build materials, coupled with customer service/warranty, etc. The Apple TV may not be the best example, but plenty of other products they offer are.

I speculate the one more thing is Apple sunglasses available in the tints shown on the “By Innovation Only” invite.

You've fallen hard for their PRO marketing BS... the Amazon device has the same functionality as ATV, but has a far better remote.

Rubbish!
The Amazon is pure garbage. The ATV will deliver for 5+ years. Try that with an Amazon 'thing'. You get what you pay for in life and you'll soon learn the utter rubbish that comes from Amazon. Their products are the most shoddy built products. You'd be horrified if you were to strip one down and see the utter crap that these are fitted with.
Still a Ford Focus does the same as that sexy Ferrari at a cheaper price, doesn't it? And of course, the £100 smart phone is just as good as the iPhone X isn't it?

Change your life, buy a cheap cover for it so it's easier to hold, and learn how to "tap" the cursor area instead of swiping.

The remote is actually really awful. It's great for scrubbing, but most of the time we want to just fast forward, not scrub. If there was a way to change the sensitivity it wouldn't be as bad.

Plus any time you touch the glass it does something, which is annoying.

The pad is super-good at entering text, much better than other remotes. But for basic navigation it pretty much sucks.

same was with apple watch, first iphone etc...everybody knew...so stop being like this. In present times, nothing is secret anymore...
One more thing could be the glasses
Yeah, I can see the glasses being previewed. Doesn't the invite stay something about innovation? So far, Tim's done one more things for: 1) Apple Watch (good), 2) Apple Music (not good!) and 3) iPhone X (good, even though everyone knew it was coming.

I can't see him doing it for 1) An Apple TV, 2) a Tile competitor a 3) a MacBook Pro or 4) an iPad.

If this tipster is correct about "one more thing," I think we'll get a preview of the glasses.

I know. I've been reading and watching reviews; the Note 10+ is simply an amazing device. I recently switched to an iPhone 8 Plus (from a XR) and while I plan to keep it for awhile I don't see myself sticking with iPhone in the future. The cost/value proposition is simply not there. It truly baffles me how Apple has been so stagnant with its development over the last few years--macOS, iOS, iPhones, Macs--most of their products and software have just been leapfrogged by the competition and the competition is charging much less for the same or better hardware.

I've toying with photography a lot more and that Note 10+ is freaking AMAZING!!!!! I am holding onto Apple for iMessage alone. Outside of that there is nothing really keeping me here. Just about everyone around me has an iPhone but that isn't really reason enough to keep me "here".

or perhaps just maybe an early preview of the so-called Apple Glasses
No. Just... no. Please Apple, learn from Google. As infatuated as you may be with AR, People don’t want this.

They need to make this thing slimmer. It's been years and years of this design and then they actually went BIGGER for the 4k version.
Why? You carrying it in your pocket?

I don’t take the “one more thing” line lightly, I sure hope it’s good.

Hopefully NOT with THAT remote!
It's gonna be a remote with a scroll wheel (like an iPod), that goes through whole english dictionary in an alphabetical order. This might be the only UI more uncomfortable than scrolling through letters on that remote.

I got around that by remembering the matte color is top. Gloss on bottom.

Please can someone explain why we can’t download content? I have 500 mbps internet but sometimes it struggles with even HD quality and long buffers. It’s Spectrum internet so that’s why. I have rewired my house many times but it’s always an issue with some box in the neighborhood.
Are you using 5ghz setting for WiFi? 2.4ghz is prone to horrific interference from neighbours. We have 400mbps but the 2.4ghz drops to 0.3mbps on an evening due to all of the neighbours WiFi clashing channels. 5Ghz on the other hand stays at around 403mbps and remains flawless.

With the way things are going with all of these leaks, I doubt that Apple will release the GM of iOS 13.0 this week and wait until next week.
