Anybody else with 4.2 GM have issues with Twitter?

My app signs out every time I turn the iPad off or quit the app from the multitask bar.

Is anybody else experiencing this? Any advice?

Mine is forgetting the login upon a quit from the multitask bar and it won't upload pictures either, weird others have no issue with it.

I installed earlier and generally it seems OK at best, but when opening and closing apps from a folder the fluid animations are flaky at best, and I managed to lag it to the point where it totally missed any animations.

Same here. I went back to Twitterific.

I have just installed 4.2GM 8C134b, I haven't really tested it out yet.

On 4.2GM 8C134, I was having problems with the Wi-fi. The connection would work fine, but then after 5-10 minutes it'd just hang when loading a page. The Wi-fi would still show as connected, good signal still. It'd just hang, and I'd need to go turn the Wi-fi off in settings, then back on. This would fix it but it'd just keep happening.

I think the Wi-fi issue is the only problem I've came across. I'm surprised how much faster my iPad seems to be! I thought that multitasking would slow it down, but it's had the opposite effect. I love it :) I feel like this is what my iPad should have been doing since the day I got it. I'm so glad that multitasking and folders is now here, I'll never be able to go back :) 4.2 has really made it for me, I don't care if the new iPad has a camera, better screen etc. Aslong as my iPad works like this I'll be happy :) but I wouldn't say no to more ram!

I love the multitasking, it's so much faster and easier to use the ipad. Obviously some apps don't support it yet but that doesn't bother me much. I think the only real problem I have is with twitter...It keeps opening up to tweets from a day ago, So i need to keep scrolling away to the more recent ones. I don't know if this is a problem with Twitter app or 4.2, but it only started doing this when i installed 4.2 : / Folders is a welcome addition! I can now fit all my apps onto the one page, nice and tidy :) I love how you can get more apps in one folder. I know on iPhone 4 that you had a limit of 12 apps i think.

Another thing...maybe it's just me, or because 4.2 comes with a lighter default background, but the screen seems much sharper and clearer! Who needs a retina display!

Only other thing I dont like is the the rotation lock button. I mean...I'll get used to going into multitask bar, but theres not really use for the mute switch. Just holding down the volume rocker will turn it onto mute. I don't really like this! I wish it'd just turn the volume down a bit at a time instead of going onto mute. Change it to do this and the mute switch have a use.

Apart from that...4.2GM is working fine :) A great step for the iPad, I think it'll make everyone fall in love with their iPad all over again :)

Yep. Twitter forget my login info and this gets irritating. I'm going to try a reinstall (as someone mentioned) and see if that works. 4.2b is downloading right now so I'll check in to see if that fixes the issue.

Just timed how long it takes to complete the backup/Transfer/Sync process on my 32Gb iPad with about 25Gb of data:

2 minutes 40 seconds.

Out of curiosity, for those reporting long backup times, how much free space do you have. Wonder if it has something to do with that?

I think it's a lot more complex - I've noticed that as my library of PDFs grow, so did the back-up time. But not always - if I made little changes to the library (e.g. adding highlights and notes through Noterize and/or adding new PDFs) then the backup time would be more reasonable (1-3 minutes) even with 27-28GB of 32 being used.

I think it is not so much a volume but type of content that results in considerable variances in back-up times.

Well this is good to know. It seems to me like this is a Twitter app issue (although I'm not experiencing any problems on my iPhone with iOS 4.2), but nevertheless, this should be fixed with an update. Hopefully we'll see it soon as a lot of apps are becoming 4.2 compatible.

I have the 16gb model with perhaps half of that used--certainly no massive videos or huge apps. I'll backup today; I'd expect it to take at least 90 minutes.

I don't think Apple will release iOS 4.2 on November 24, 2010.

The reason is simple: they don't want to deal with any serious compatibility issues over the Thanksgiving Day (US) holiday period. It's more likely they'll release it on the 17 or 18 November 2010 so Apple can check for problems "out in the wild" and apply fixes before Thanksgiving Day.

I agree with you. They'll either release it next week or wait until the 30th. It's a Tuesday (a known day for releases) and it's still in November as originally promised. (Not that that matters much.)

Yes to both of these posts, although I doubt they'll be doing any post release bug fixes the week of Thanksgiving.

They're not going to release a software update for a product they've been doing heavy advertising for on the busiest travel day of the year. It's either going to be next week or on the 30th.

Whats to be "steamed" about? Apples official public release states "coming in November". All of these dates being tossed around are all RUMOR and SPECULATION.

Precisely, it's only a date. Besides it's time to celebrate! And why?

Because as soon as the new release comes your iPad is instantly going to be known as an OPad.

Yes boys and girls you read it right, OPad.

You know.. ObsoletePad, the one you bought and expected to enjoy for awhile? There's a new version and it's time to celebrate!

After all you wouldn't want your Poor... Old... Uncle Steve, to go without more money would you? No, I didn't think you would. So it's simply time to give Uncle Steve more of your hard earned money. Cha Ching, you're owned.

WTF are you talking about? New version won't make iPad obsolete anymore then an old iPhone. If you get a new iPad when it comes out I'm sure you will be able to sell the old one for almost as much as you payed for it. I've done that with all my iPhones since the first model, one of them for more then I payed for it. I'm sure the iPad will do the same.

What the heck are you smoking and can I have some? :p

To be honest, there's only two things I'm looking for with 4.2 - firstly a fix for the USB audio issue on my IP4 (the random crackling noise when playing audio over USB to a dock or car audio system) and also to finally have folders on my iPad home screens - it's an absolute mess at the moment.

Quick Download or Pause and Wait?

Here's a slightly different question: I know that we're all tried and true :apple: fans on here, but given signs of these alleged issues, do you run and download 4.2 as soon as Macrumors reports it's available, or are you going to wait?

Me personally, I LOVE my iPad, I really really like having the rotation lock switch (especially when showing something on my iPad to a non-iPad user), but I kind of like the idea of folders. 4.0 on my 3G was painful (yes, I know, a "real" Apple fan would have run out for the iPhone 4. I opted to buy it for my wife, thank you very much!). I worry that there might be some "thing" in 4.2 that will make me regret running to download it the very first second I can--even though there is only one iPad model, so there shouldn't be "older model syndrome."

So again: are you getting 4.2 the minute it drops, or waiting to see what others think once it goes public?

I asked earlier in this thread and didn't receive and answer. I just bought my wife a wifi only ipad and was wondering if there is really a new iPad coming towards the end of the month?

I'm sure I can take it back and was just trying to decide what to do.

Someone did answer; they said no, and theorized that it will be April or so before the next model. I'd anticipate an announcement in late January.

There is no new iPad coming out this month. Or next month.

I'll probably wait about 24 hours...monitor the forums...and then download, depending on how severe the issues, if any, are reported.

While the iPad will hold its value for resale, it is a completely different story from the iPhone. The iPhone was subsidized and therefore resale value was expected to be more since the resale didn't involve any contract.

And you only sold ONE of your iPhones for more than you paid ? I assume most people have sold EVERY iPhone for more than they paid for this very reason.

The iPad was not subsidized, so why would anyone choose to purchase an old USED one when they can get a new one, with better specs, and probably cheaper than what you paid...

whats the limitations of # of apps that can be placed in a folder on 4.2? on the iPhone it was like 12 apps in a folder which was horrible. I jailbroke my phone simply because of this limitation they need to let me put 100 apps in a folder IF I deem it that way.

I haven't had these problems, but I'll keep an eye out for them. I think they may be remedied by clearing out the configuration and starting from scratch, but I'm not sure at this point (since I can't replicate the problem).

For iPad: 20.

Agree 12 apps limit in iPhone is certified ridiculous -- even more so now since it's obviously an arbitrary number.
