I downloaded the .dmg file but Windows cannot extract the .ipsw file because I don't have the utility to extract it. Anyone knows of a free .dmg extractor for Windows?
Now that all iOS devices with have the same OS4 version, I am thinking about iOS5.
Dou you think that iOS 5 will be released with the iPad 2 or with the iPhone 5?
Out of curiosity...
When Microsoft is quoted as having 100 million lines of code in a very complex operating system.
How do you have millions of non-comment lines of code in an ecommerce platform? Tens of thousands, I'd believe. Millions??
I suppose eCommerce is more complex than you are giving it credit for.
If you can build a platform that provides comprehensive frameworks and tools for things like extreme scalability, transaction handling, fulfillment, personalization, caching, web services, repositories, etc....and make it with only tens of thousands of LOC, then you should seriously do it.
I've been following posts from people who took the golden master when it was originally released and immediately noticed the WiFi issues within minutes of installing it.
I continue to be surprised at how poor Apple's quality control is. I don't expect software to be perfect, but I would love to know how some of these obvious and critical issues make it into a golden master.
While your application may actually be that complex, most e-Commerce applications on 99.9% of all websites are not (because 99.9% of all ecommerce websites easily excludes the 1,000 heaviest hitters)

LOL. I'm a software developer and here when a particular release is slated to be the final build but something goes wrong at the last minute we add a letter to the build number, just like this. (It's some internal political thing -- once development has promised that X37 will be the final build we don't want fail to deliver... so we can claim that X37b is still X37 even though it's really X38.)
It's funny to see Apple doing the same thing. I wonder if it's for the same reason![]()
Didn't this same nonsense happen with Snow Leopard. The GM was out in the wild for days. Most were confident that what was out there was the GM until another build surfaced. It turned out the GM was the GM after all.
It's an eCommerce development platform with literally millions of non-comment lines of code. Bugs get through all the time. Just not bugs that block major use cases and requirements (in this case, like wifi not working!).
Ok, that was a little "high horse". All I mean to say is that I'm surprised *this* bug got *this* close to being shipped and I believe it's telling (combined with other notable examples).
It's not an application. It's a platform on which to build applications. Just out of curiosity, which other eCommerce platforms are you familiar with and how many lines of code do they include? Since IBM WebSphere and BEA (now Oracle) Weblogic comprise the market share of eCommerce web applications, including many of the "heavy hitters", maybe you know their LOC count?

There are different versions of WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n) as well as different encryption methods (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.) so it could be a connection method that you aren't using that is causing a problem.I have had zero Wifi issues with my Ipad on 4.2 I just want Apple to release an update to the ATV. I'd like to test Airplay. Right now, it just streams audio and no video.
Once again, riding your high horse
Most websites do not run those products, unless the only ecommerce you consider to be ecommerce is companies with hundreds of millions in revenue.
Tens of thousands of ecommerce sites exist that do a few thousand a year up to a few million, and do NOT have backends powered by these products.
And look up the definition of application, I was not refering to your silly little applications sitting on your computer or your iPad. "What your application is" happens to be the statement version of the question "What is your application?"
Uh, sure. Anyway, are you still somehow trying to prove that an eCommerce platform can't contain millions of LOCs or are you just taking issue with anything I write? Just curious what your point is here.

Really, you think thats the whole f*n point to this? To argue with you?
Show me an amazon.com and I can show you hundreds of small ecommerce stores that are... shocker... yes, considered ecommerce ..... and have no where close to the scope you are claiming
There are tens of thousands of sites that use small, open source e-commerce platforms or in-house platforms. I've worked on projects with both.
I am arguing with your assertion that ecommerce is in-fact complicated, it is not. Your last post came across as saying these tens or hundreds of thousands of sites aren't ecommerce because they don't have your level of sophistication.
