That does make sense. If it's external change, and I hope it is, they should prepare the event.
so on that logic, that is bad news then for early hopefuls. Meaning we are not likely to get anything next week for sure and even march 1st do not look good. What's the leading time for apple to make the announcement for the event and actual event date? a week?
In other possiblities -- and I know people will hate me for it and I hate myself for saying this -- is that they do not do any external change and just change the internal. Keep same design and pop SB and other internal change.... Hmmmm

I agree, I like the current unibody. Hope they update the internals, though, to run more like the Macbook Air with quick boot up and all...I guess this means SSD - I'm hoping SSD becomes standard. I could go either way on keeping the optical drive, though.
they look different on the outside, but there have been a lot of internal changes since the first unibody-MBP. The layout now is very clean and simple. The first unibodies were more similar to the previous gen internally than the current models.I'm not actually expecting a total redesign in unibody, but I'm fairly certain Apple will make some sort of change to the unibody. After 3 good years, it's about time for Apple to maybe make some refinements. I'm sure that Apple's been working on something with regards to the Mac bodies in the past couple years, considering the MacBook Airs had a body redesign.
Long story short, Apple will probably keep the general shape and design, with small refining improvements. Liquid Metal is a stretch, but not impossible, and I'm sure people would be ecstatic if Apple finally fixed the sharp front edge.
We are so close.. If Apple is going to refresh mbp next week on Steve Job's birthday we should get a notice of the event just now. Don't you think so?
My bet is for March's first.
If they are going to make all the changes that the rumors are saying, it is more likely to be an event.. Unless they maintain aluminium unibody casing without any exterior changes like last year. If they only put blade ssds and sandy bridge proccessors there won't be any event. There doesn't need to be an event. When the iMacs went a major redesign in late 2009 - there was no event. The Magic Mouse was also launched at the same time yet no event.
Its most probably going to be a case of... all the online stores go offline, when they come back up, we'll see new MBP's.
As for the event, theres most probably going to be one for the iPad 2 (which is going to be soon). They wouldn't want to have 2 launches so close together.
If they are going to make all the changes that the rumors are saying, it is more likely to be an event..
For the record we are not the only people that get excited about new launches. The Thinkpad, HP and Dell forums are all worked up about SB refreshes.
This should be a bigger jump than C2D to Arrandale.
It's also Steve jobs birthday
