it could easily be a function of the "program you are inthe way the iPad changes the key board layout depending on what app you are in

Furthermore, this could be a great control implementation for creators of the FPS genre. Hold with two finger on one side of the back to shoot, while the two virtual joysticks are used solely for movement and view. Who knows...

Did anybody else see that graphic of the iPhone on the ACM awards as they were cutting to commercial. The graphic had a front facing camera, LED flash above the ear piece and small red and green squares on opposite sides of multi-function. Could this be the new iPhone??

Woah..

I think it's funny how, a couple threads back, most everybody was saying this is absolutely not the iPhone. The pictures are fake. But now... most people are saying the pictures are real and this is undoubtedly a prototype. How does everyone KNOW it's a prototype (if it's even real, in the first place). Is it a prototype just because you don't like it?

Also, I love how everyone is a forensic image analyst on this board. Didn't know there were so many out there.

it's a prototype because the picture that proves it the most (the one with the ipad) is a bunch of months old. You think they have retail versions of the iPhone then? lmao.

And we already know the resolution is likely 960x640.

I personally don't mind the design (prototype or not), although it is unlike Apple. To me, it definitely has a SE look to it, as many suggested. Either way, the specs will be awesome, the OS will be awesome, and well... i just shattered the screen on my iPhone so I'm getting one lol

Because A.) it contradicts Apple's own published naming scheme and B.) it will be confusing when Apple does release a 4G-network-capable iPhone. Are you going to call that "the iPhone 6G-but-in-actuality-4G"?
It doesn't contradict anything. Are you offended by the use of iPhone 2G as well?

but whyyyyy!

The crazy thing is that the pic is actually not photoshopped.. I mean, obviously the head is fake.. but you know what I mean. Most people would look at it and yell "Shopped"... but it's actually not.. which makes it a hilarious picture lol

I remember reading a while back that Apple hardware prototypes rarely have the REAL OS loaded on them. The OS is tested separately... with emulation or on dummy hardware. This is to keep things secret.

Remember this 2G iPhone prototype that landed on Ebay?

That was the case for the original iPhone because it was an entirely new product, not a revision of an existing one.

Fine, call it whatever the hell you damned well please.

Just don't come back complaining that your posts aren't being read because Google thinks the 'iPhone 4G' is the sixth-generation phone on the LTE network.

Good grief...

testing.

Just like the iPad is in a prototype/testing case in that image, the prototype iPhones I will bet are also in prototype/testing cases. Obviously Apple is working on iPhones - probably generations out, explaining things like the 80 gigs of storage etc.. So I don't really know why this is surprising at all, but this is not the iPhone case we will see in June. At least I hope not.

I am a little surprised that an apple employee would have left this top secret device at a bar though. If this is a genuine Apple prototype though, it will not look like that.

I'm still thinking it is a handmade, one off, testing the OS or something. The design is very uncharacteristic of Apple, IMHO. It lacks sexiness. It just looks too... (sorry, I need to say this) UNSMILEY. I like it- it's different but I can't help but think that the volume buttons on the side just don't mesh with the overall design style of the phone. I don't hear a giddy song playing in the background of the commercial for this one.

I do dig the look, though. I like the textured aluminum sides even if the gaps are a little too big for an Apple product. I don't think Apple is going for a removable battery because it doesn't mesh with their design standards right now.

I don't know- I like it, but I still don't think this is it. Plus, why is it sitting on a prototype iPad?
