lol i was teasing.

but your right one should NEVER assume that a burger with a burger king wrapper sitting next to a burger king coke and fries on a burger king tray on a table in burger king is ACTUALLY a burger king burger.

Now that's a better example than a stupid looking zebra-fish in front of a brick wall. :p

Josh Topolsky from engadget is on TUAW saying there are details he can't talk about, but that they are VERY confindent that the next gen iPhone will in fact me VERY much like what we see in these pictures based on his sources.

He's also saying the back is heard to be glass of some sort and Apple is going for a more professional look of the new iPhone' or a more masculine feel.

He's also saying this isn't the last we've heard about the iPhone. It's def getting really interesting !!!

Isn't it dangerous to have a phone with a glass front and a glass back? One drop and it's done.

Glass can be made incredibly strong, particularly in compression (i.e. the type of stress you apply when you drop it) and particularly if it doesn't need to be fully transparent.

This is true, I have a glass ball that bounces and never breaks. When I originally dropped it by accident I gasped but then it started bouncing!

I read some of the pages I missed while I was watching something TV, and you know what's hilarious, the people who think it's ugly. If there is anything you can be confident in these days it's Apple's ability to create a slick looking product for consumers, you're borderline ridiculous if you think this won't be more goodness in that respect when you finally see it in person, or just more shots of it in general (the retail release).

I know someone who was in one of those super secret labs during the run up to the iPad. He told me about the layers of security one must go thru, mettle detectors etc. To get to the inner inner sanctums. If these are real then there is a traitor within the Apple ranks cause no civilian outside Apple took those shots inside of the campus at Cupertino.

I for one think this is complete Engadget publicity prank to drive people to their site and to get exposure. They are rumor mongering morons whose advertisers are salivating at the numbers of hits this kind of thing generates.

I think Macrumors is following in this flight of fancy by promoting this by even giving them the time of day in something that is so clearly nonsense.

It's way to soon to start the speculation and expectation cycle. We know the dam phone is going to have a front facing camera and more res, and a grate new operating system so as far as design goes, well I look forward to seeing what they come up with but I refuse to partake in this round of fantasy for the benefit of Engadget!

Now it's getting interesting. From Daring Fireball:

2006 Apple Patent for Ceramic Enclosures

"In my research regarding Engadget’s purported photos of a next-gen iPhone, the factor that pushed me over the edge to believe that it’s authentic is the glass back. I know the trend for Apple of late has been toward unibody aluminum enclosures (exhibits A and B: MacBook Pros, iPad), but I think that works poorly for a phone, because the radios can’t get a strong signal. Multiple sources familiar with the next iPhone have confirmed to me that the back is made out of some sort of fancy glass — and looks pretty much exactly what’s pictured at Engadget. That’s not the only reason I believe Engadget’s unit is legit, but it’s one.

Now, the thing I’ve been curious about ever since hearing about this “glass” back is durability. Everyone knows that dropping your iPhone is like dropping a piece of buttered toast — there’s a good side and bad side it can land on. Put a glass back on these things and, in terms of drop survivability, it’d be like a piece of toast with butter on both sides, as it were.

But, reader Antoine Hebert emailed with this 2006 Apple patent, for high-durability ceramic enclosures. Glass-like appearance and feel but far stronger and more scratch resistant. And: radio transparent."

They test your stamina and courage?

I hope this is the real deal because I really like the new design...

And the added bonus will be when all the haters of the new design start backpedaling when its officially announced...

Lulz...

I'm all for glass or ceramic, it's just the aluminum siding that I don't like. Maybe it's the photo quality, but it looks kind of cheap. That, and the buttons are ugly too.

Maybe. My sources say glass. Guess we'll find out.

Maybe your sources only handled the prototype and don't know about the exact material used? Zirconia can look and feel a lot like glass.

Like Gruber said: "Put a glass back on these things and, in terms of drop survivability, it’d be like a piece of toast with butter on both sides, as it were."

I don't think so the pictures were first reveal the night before the iPad and were proven true.

It's always possible apple is leaking images... I mean if no one is talking about you then your not famous right? So it might be apples way to get press.
