New, Fun Products Next Week?

Definitely NOT #1. They have the 1GB nano to repace the shuffle(s). The Shuffle is dead.

Why do you say that? I have heard of no source saying the Shuffle has been discountinued? It's their low end and I don't think they plan on killing it. If they had killed it they would have just lost a sale 'cause I just bought one for a gift and the $69.00 was spot on. All the other models were too expensive for my budget. I had to to the four stores before I even found one in stock. They had all been sold out with more expected but not in the time frame I needed. I think the price cut will help sell MORE shuffles.

Isn't it the other way around, they show their "OOPS" first and then you put the beads around their neck?

Ah, you're probably correct. They show you their OOPS, then you put a brand new bead iOpener(tm) around their neck.

(Steve's going to be so peeved when he realises his secret has got out..)

OK, sorry about that. When I see these open-ended announcements I get a little giddy. I'm thinking it will make all my [mac] dreams come true!!!!

While the Apple PDA has been rumored to death...

You might just be on to something. Though maybe not a PDA, maybe a... dare I say it... smartphone?

Not a bad thought. There was that Apple MVNO rumor a while back.

Plus, here in the U.S. (I don't know about Globally), Smartphones are it. I think that 7 of the top 10 selling mobile phones in the United States are smart phones.

I don't think it's likely, but it's a fun rumor.

Bluetooth Mighty Mouse.....Bluetooth Mighty Mouse....

AND

iMedia using the Mac Mini as its source

AND

iPDA for keeping track of one's hectic schedule

Oh, and how's about an iCamera to rival Canon and Nikon's best?

It all comes to profit margin in the end. If Apple is only making 2-5 USD on each 512 Shuffle its not worth the trouble as shipping packaging is all included in the final sale along with marketing.

If you calculate the difference between the Apple Store non EDU and EDU price for the 512 Shuffle you will notice that its the same price (or maybe just in Canada). The 1GB Shuffle margin is even tighter as the 1GB Nano gives a better profit margin.

Think of it as the Dollar Store with most of it's products made and shipped from China and the quality is terrible since there is a very slim profit margin. :)

I'm hoping for an updated Mac Mini. I have an Uncle who is ready to make the switch and has his mind set on a new Mac Mini. I haven't the heart to mention that it hasn't been updated in quite sometime and that the G4 is all but dead now.

He's looking to buy sometime in the next few weeks so hopefully it will be that. If not, what he doesn't know wont hurt him I guess :)

And where did you get this stat from? Considering the RAZR is the most popular cellphone, it would surprise me if 7 out of the top 10 phones were smartphones.

Most cellphones sold are almost always done in conjunction w/ a carrier plan. The best selling plans are nearly always w/ the lowest cost phone. Considering smartphones are the most expensive mobile phones, I definitely question your claim.

Let me the first to complain about Apple's new products.
They scratch easy, .01% of them have one bad pixel or something, and .001% of them have power issues or are partly defective which is covered under warranty, but we consider these flaws and the warranty to be undue burdens. I am also not happy that when I received the product that I have yet to order , it was/is/will better than the specs that were originally released.

Please join the class action lawsuit against Apple for the creation of these as yet to be offered products, with yet to be identified flaws.

I am also filing a class action lawsuit against all other people who have filed seemingly frivolous class action lawsuits for not including us in their class action lawsuit. All people who have not been part of or invited to join a class action lawsuit constitut a class of people who can file a frivolous class action lawsuit. By not joining the class action suite, be aware that you are entitled to join the class action suite to be filed later against the people filing the class action against those who have yet to file class action law suites. The damages to all classes noted above will be determined during the protracted and verbose prefiling period, or after the filing, or during the proceedings that will follow.

are you on drugs? if not leave the forums...jeez!

When you get your dreams and hopes up too high it has a tendency to make it's way down.

What goes up must come down. ;) :D

Well, I'm basing my thoughts on this AppleInsider story in which an analyst says that Apple is "getting set to 'end of life' the [iPod] shuffle possibly in favor of a 1GB version of the nano."

Coin pocket invite = ipod nano (fits in your pocket)
Theatre curtain invite = ipod video (watch movies)
Calendar invite = ipod pda?

I have a Palm Pilot and I love it to death, but it doesnt always sync well with iCal and the address book. THere is a LOT of info in iCal that never makes it to the Palm because the Palm has limited information compared to what you can enter into iCal. So..... I'd love a nice $200 Apple PDA (no camera please! I have a digital camera for that!)

Sure that is how everything starts, we do not need this and that feature and function and then after a few months....boom you get some new feature and function......that is product life. ;)

iPod started as something simple, and yet its simple it still have more capabilities then what it was meant to do. If Apple release an iPDA now without a camera, etc..consumer will ask for it and eventually to stretch the product life it will have a camera, media card reader, WiFi, etc...... ;) :)

Is that ever going to die?

My money is on 2 of the following 3: iPod video, Mac mini media center, Tablet mac

I doubt that it will be anything that big. My guess is the iPod accessories that were rumored to be announced at MWSF 2006, then (rumored to have been) pulled. The iBoombox, or whatever.

With the phrase "fun, new products," they seem to be trying to steer expectations toward something nifty but more on the frivolous side of things than the revolutionary.

Start checking digg.com or revision3 later in the week for what's coming out. Kevin Rose predicted (knew) exactly what Apple was releasing at MacWorld.
