Not the trackpad - someone confirmed shipment on Page 10.

It's probably not one single thing, its probably some kind of "who ordered first" + "what do we have at which assembly line" kind of mish mosh, where the more BTO your BTO is, the less likely you are to fire off your unit, but eventually you get so "old" in the queue, you fire off as the components are restocked.

I ordered on the 13th, was given an arrival date of 18th-21st. Spoke with customer care, told me everything was fine. Deadline passed, naturally, followed by a delay notice via e-mail.

Just saw that the order finally has gone into "Preparing for Shipment".

Placed order on the 15th. Chose the option to ship to store. Today the status changed from processing to "preparing for shipment". It is available to pick up on Oct 23. I live in Orange County, California so if it ships to the store today or tomorrow from the California location, it should definitely be here by Friday.

That just doesn't make any sense to me. I ordered the same exact configuration as you for store pickup on the 13th and my pickup date was just pushed back to Oct 30th. I'm on the east coast, but if Apple is sending out all orders with overnight shipping, that shouldn't make any difference.

Perhaps since you are on the east coast yours will be shipping from China?

It seems like Apple is just shipping these randomly.

I posted a bit ago about how I ordered on the 15th my friend orders hours after announcement mine has shipped his still is processing. We even have the same models 16GB,1TB SSD,4GB GPU 27" etc

Only at first. Just type "I want to talk to someone" and it'll assign you to a real person.
So, I took your advice and it seemed to work.
I had a slightly different dialogue(asked for phone number to contact, etc) and managed to actually get confirmation that the BTO is being assembled in the US-which completely contradicts what robo-chat has been telling me the last few times. haha

Are all orders getting upgraded shipping or do you have to have called or chatted with them? Mine just changed to "Shipped" and Fedex shows that the label has been created but delivery shows 7 days from now. :( It also says
Service: FedEx Home Delivery

Mine shows "FedEx Priority Overnight", but then I paid for that. My thought was that since I'm dropping $3300 on this computer, $42 for extra fast shipping is a pretty invisible cost. :)

Have you been charged for it yet?
I did the same as you, but they dropped the shipping fee.

Yes, they did. I got billed for the overnight shipping separately. Somewhat annoyingly, they charged me sales tax on that. The overnight shipping was $42.00, and I was billed an extra $45.47 on top of the BIG bill for the iMac with Applecare.

Sales Tax here in Dallas, TX is 8.25%, and that's $3.465, so they rounded to $3.47, and added it, and it accounts for the $45.47 charge.

This is the same for me. I was charged separately for FedEx Priority Overnight. Also to the TX area, but San Antonio.

Config: i7 4 ghz, 512 ssd, 8gb RAM, m395x w/ 4gb, and trackpad/keyboard.

Ordered on 17 October. Processing until late last night -- around midnight or so it changed to preparing for shipment and this evening around 6.30pm received notice of shipment to be expected before 10.30am tomorrow.

I suspect its a combination of factors, but most likely RAM is somehow in that equation. Lots of RAM shortages around - spoke with OWC about delay on orders and was initially quoted a delay of a week or more for 16gb (8x2) 1866mhz RAM, but given good news that I had ordered early enough that order will be shipped out today.

Sorry for those of you with delays -- even though mine is on its way curious as well as to the exact cause.

Still waiting on actual "shipped" status. It's still "Prepared for Shipment". I spoke with Apple Chat and they confirmed that it WILL be shipped on time for me to receive by noon tomorrow, and that it's coming from California.

The status is now updated to "Shipping to Store". The delivery date has been changed to Oct 26. This is interesting since a few hours ago it was Oct 23 and the rep I talked to today confirmed this. Hopefully it still arrives on Friday! *fingers crossed*
