The status is now updated to "Shipping to Store". The delivery date has been changed to Oct 26. This is interesting since a few hours ago it was Oct 23 and the rep I talked to today confirmed this. Hopefully it still arrives on Friday! *fingers crossed*

Oh yes, I should have added. My original quoted dates were 17 October Order Date; 3-5 Business Days to Ship; Delivery 23 October to 27 October. My machine is arriving (tomorrow) a day before the quoted dates.

Still stuck on processing. Sad part is I leave Friday to go back home to Toronto (for reading week) and won't be back till Nov 1. I told my concierge to put it in my condo so hopefully it will be here when I am back.

It's almost 4am here and I'm 'still preparing for shipment'. Today is the last day of the window. I'm having doubts that it will get here before noon, even though I was assured by Apple x3 times yesterday that it's on schedule. Support won't open for 4 more hours and AppleCare refused to assist me, saying its not technical support and they don't have access to the information I'm looking for. I woke up specifically so I could pre sign, but it's turned into loss of sleep. :(

Yes, finally after more than 5 days 'Processing items' it has changed to 'Preparing for shipment'. Delivery date says 23-26 Oct, but I doubt I'll see it this week.

We have the exact same config, but I'm still at Processing Items after 8+ days now.

i assume you've called them? once mine moved to preparing for shipment, it moved very quickly to shipping (about 12 hours) and delivery next day (today!).

Does chatting or calling them change anything if you are "stuck" in processing?

(stuck may be the wrong word, but I mean if you want to goose the queue)

Mine got pushed back to the 1st-3rd. Kinda ticked off because I didn't even receive a polite letter from Apple.

Someone should really tell them that people don't want to pre-order. With all their engineering prowess and manufacturing control software they can't tell what demand is going to look like? That works as an excuse on one product one time, but not all of them all of the time.

Sure sounds like all the 27" iMacs are allocated though if that were the case why are they moving ship dates unless some parts didn't arrive or are unavailable until a later date.

Talked to Apple again. Even though they assured me three times yesterday that it is on time to deliver before noon today (100 minutes from now), my order is still at preparing for shipment. I asked if it will arrive before noon, and they now say they don't know, but said "it should arrive today". I've come to the conclusion that support just feeds information based on what the order status page says. I asked if there was absolutely anything he could do to make sure that my iMac isn't sitting in the corner, forgotten about. He said he can make a formal inquiry to shipping and delivery, and I'd get a response within 48 hours.

Hey, finally I found someone in the same boat as me! 13th order date 27th delivery date.
I was in this boat... I got sick of it. Kept in contact with Bestbuy... Manger said he had one scheduled to come. (3.3GHZ/8GB/2TB FD) He said he couldn't hold it once it came in. He did call me when the truck arrived. I was there in 20 minutes... purchased it as soon as it hit the Bestbuy system.

Called Apple and to cancel.. they wanted to keep me from cancelling, I received free trackpad 2 and free Super drive. I accepted all the freebies for my troubles. Apple pushed my computer right into preparing for shipping status. so I allowed them to ship it which ended up being 2 separate orders. Computer was one. Freebies was another. I couldn't cancel the iMAC because it was in Preparing for shipping status. No problem. As soon as I received FEDEX shipping notification...I called and did a Exception told them I didn't want it. Sent that **** right back to them. I have all my goodies and the same computer I was ordering.

Looks like I pulled some kind of short straw...

Sigh...oh well. I'd like to think I have some level of patience for these kinds of things but finding out about a delay from a customer service rep was not ideal. :/ In theory it could also still ship out on time, but I'm not holding my breath.
For them a custom build meant just because I selected magic mouse +trackpad.. I went right into Bestbuy and bought my computer and cancelled my order.

Here we are at another product launch. I ordered a maxed out 5K iMac around 11:30 am PST on Oct. 13. Was given a window of Oct. 20-22 (I live in Seattle). Was stuck in "Processing" until late Tuesday, when it changed to "Preparing for shipment." It's out for delivery now. It should arrive sometime today.

I'm struck by the unfairness that some people who ordered at the same time as me (or even before) are still stuck in "Processing." I have been there.

My BTO order Store Pick Up date got moved from Nov. 2 to Oct. 30 which will allow me to play with it over the weekend.

i7, 8Gb, 512 SSD, m395x, Trackpad, Magic Keyboard

Order was placed on Oct. 17.
Preparing for Shipping on Oct. 21.
Shipping to Store on Oct. 22.
Store Pickup on Oct. 30.

Mine was delivered this morning at 9:58AM. Ordered about 3hrs after they were announced on the 13th. 4.0Ghz i7, 8Gb ram, 3TB Fusion Drive, m395x 4Gb video card.

Shipped yesterday from Fremont CA at 1:30ish PM. They did NOT give me free shipping, I paid the $42 to have it here before 10:30AM. It's unpacked and doing updates before I do anything like install anything new. :)

For those who were wondering, it definitely was made in the US.
