New iMac Shipping Notices

Noon has passed, and I'm still stuck at 'Preparing for shipment". But HEY, look, the dates have changed! After being told to wait 8 days, I log on at noon to discover that I have to wait FIVE MORE DAYS. I spoke with Apple and I think I got lucky -- the guy I spoke with said he'd put a note of urgency on it and try to expedite things form his end. He could just be saying that to make me feel better, but I guess we'll see.

in my experience, it definately helped when i was stuck in processing for a bit longer than i should have been. a nice call they 1. gave me a free upgrade to next day shipping and 2. asked for 24 hours while they performed an inquiry. 12 hours later it was preparing for shipment and then shipped out not much longer after that. so yes, polite calls ae helpful.
 
I don't know what I am going to do when it finally even goes to "Preparing for Shipment", lose my gourd I guess.

My order(made oct 17th) status moved to "preparing for shipment" last night. Store pickup set for oct 30th.
Apple said it could be sooner, so I'm crossing all my fingers and toes!

I just wish Apple would could have been honest with me yesterday when I inquired about when my mac would be shipped. Had I known it wouldn't come today, I would not have requested Today and tomorrow off work, but Monday and Tuesday instead. Argh.

Is this the first delay notice from yesterday or is this another one?
 
I'm currently not a happy camper...

Since I ordered BTO on the 15th my estimated delivery has been the 21st to the 23rd. It stayed at that even to late yesterday when the status of my order changed to prepared to shipping.

Then this morning I wake up to a shipping notice and I think that's a good thing. Until I realize the new delivery date is the 27th and that it was coming from China. (When I spoke to Apple on Tuesday night they assured me it was coming from California and since I had next day shipping I'd be good to receive before the weekend.)

So just now I call Apple back and the rep reads thru the history and apologizes repeatedly for the trouble. She even offered to send me a free hard shell case for a MacBook that I don't even have... Not sure I see the point in that at all.

She said she hopes that once I get the new computer I'd be so happy with it I'd forget all the problems in getting it delivered...yeah, right.
 
  • Ordered on the 19th around 6:30pm ET. Delivery said 29th to my local Apple store.
    • Called on the 20th about paying extra for delivery, lady mistakingly cancelled my order.
  • Re-Ordered on the 20th around 7:30pm ET. She gave new FREE next day for her oversight.
    • Delivery says 23-27. Still on processing however.

I never got a delay notice yesterday, so I think you're confusing me with someone else. It's the first delay notice I've gotten, which was sent to me 4 hours after the iMac was deadlined to be delivered (noon today). However, when I saw my order was still in "preparing for shipment" status when I woke up this morning, I anticipated it wasn't going to be here in time.

We have the exact same story, only I ordered a day earlier than you (to be delivered before noon on 20th-22nd). I discovered the new delivery date at 1pm today... 26th or 27th. The offer of a case sounds ridiculous. Apple offered me a refund if the overnight shipping charge in the form of a gift card. Not sure how that's going to get sent to me, but I just want to receive my computer first.

Wait, your delivery estimate changed while it was in the "Preparing for Shipment" status??
I hope that doesn't happen to mine. :/

No. The dates stayed right up till I got a shipping notice. Only then did I learn the delivery date was pushed out. By the way, I never got an email informing of a delay...
 
I haven't received mine yet either and I feel for everyone who is still waiting.

But we should all understand that Apple has received a lot of orders and may be more than what they could supplied to our expected time.

It's not the end of the world if you guys don't get it on the expected delivery date but don't give them a hard time either! If they could get it out on time to everyone I'm sure they would have done so if it was possible.

For those who received their packages on time congrats and enjoy :)
 
Somebody above had mentioned that they were told their machine was coming from California...

Well apparently it only comes from California if you have a non-BTO model. If you're BTO, it's coming from China. Rep just confirmed.
 
My BTO is coming from California. Ordered yesterday, and it shipped this morning. So there are certainly BTOs coming from the US. Mine was 27/i7/395x/8GB/3TB.

Mine was set for 23-27 ordered the 19th with overnight shipping, now it says 27-29th. That sucks was hoping to have it for the weekend. I did i7/M395X/16GB/256 SSD
