The spamming of every article with whining-about-Mac comments has gotten completely out of control.
And you are visiting what site?
"Mac" rumors, correct?
Aren't you doing the same thing, as you complain about other people's complain?
If you believe that people are spamming, you are welcomed to use the report post function on the forum, since posting a complain is not going to get things changed.
Lastly, as some other members had pointed out, if the Mac is not so badly needed an update, there wouldn't be this many people complaining.

Now back on topic, the article mentioned that the new iPads can debut as early as later this month, I find that questionable as we have less than 3 weeks to go before the end of the month and Apple has not yet send out any invite for an event.
Let's just hope it is not another flop like the MacBook Pro with the touchbar that charges outrageous prices!

Nah, iPad mini is the absolute best form factor for what most people use an iPad for: browsing in bed or watching TV. I was a skeptic at first and had an Air. Got my hands on a mini and that was that. Everyone I know who's tried a mini has switched to it as well, and most of them have a iPhone Plus.

Ehh the best to who, you?

I use my iPad exactly how you say and the 9.7" to me is the best. See this is why they make different sizes.

I agree in rhetoric.

What a bezel-free tablet would would require is some innovation to have the OS detect the difference between touch along the side of screen just to hold it vs intentional interactive touch. I would say it is very possible to determine both, especially if the screen has 3D Touch because holding the iPad usually means more touch force then swiping or gestures. I mean a firm, persistent touch on the edge of the screen can be easily ignored if the software was smart enough.

However, this again requires Innovation, with a capital I, and Apple is not investing much into a losing product like iPad these days. Instead they will "innovate", with a lower case i, and simply change the iPad colors or remove the headphone jack or something naive like that.
The iPad Pro has real solid palm rejection. I wonder if they'll innovate off that.

Really hoping one of those is a new iPad Mini, the Mini 4 is really out of date spec-wise at this point. My Mini 2 is dragging, I'd really like to upgrade.

I don't get the argument that Mini is useless because the Plus exists. The 4.7 iPhone and iPhone SE exist too. Not everyone wants a big phone and the Mini fits in well with the smaller phone sizes.

Personally I think it should be ban worthy to whine about Macs in an iOS device-related article. Not sure why this nonsense is tolerated on this site.
Because this is MACrumors, and many here are VERY interested in the Mac part of Apple, even if Apple itself is not.

One is silver and white. The other is grey and black. Totally different. Want black, buy a 1st gen iPad mini or an iPhone 7.

That's not the color that Apple have marketed, you just made that up. There are silver, gray, gold and rose gold. You are right, gray is totally different from silver. Almost a shade or 2 darker.
And thank you but not interested on the iPhone 6ss. Got the 6s and happy with it.

I am with you on hoping there is an upgrade to the mini. That is the only iPad I have any interest in. It is light weight, great for traveling etc. If Apple decides not to upgrade the mini then I will dump my many years (and many $ spent in Apps) to switch to an Android sized mini tablet. If you snooze Apple on the mini front then you will definitely loose my business & loyalty. Just saying!

Android ecosystem will never match Apple.

I was excited about getting an iPad Pro 2 next year, but I figured I wouldn't use it very much. Instead, I might just settle for an iPad Air 2 with Cellular, 128 GBs of storage; a friend said he is willing to send me at the cost of shipping and handling. Also, because of the timing I would be traveling to the states next, the iPad Pro 3 would be upon us. So, its probably best I work with the Air 2 and wait to see if Apple does something truly significant by 2019: OLED, macOS style capabilities with the simplicity of iOS, bundled pen, better integrated smart keyboard with macOS power and a cheaper price range for the cellular model.

I owned every version of iPad (with exception of the original and the 12.9 Pro) and iPad Mini was the best.price was an irrelevant factor.

It just had the best form factor and a sweet spot size.
So they better be working on a new Mini with Pencil support..

Will be awesome to buy a new iPad in July, 2017, after the March announcement. And get the matching keyboard cover by January, 2018.

It may be called MacRumors, but it's barely about Macs anymore. Why? Apple barely cares about the Mac. Get used to that.

Completely agree. I'm looking at upgrading to the 9.7 Pro if the new iPad lineup has nothing to offer in a major refresh. Otherwise, I'm completely happy with my Air 2, which is awesome.

That pattern would point to:

iPad 7,1 - 7.9" Pro WiFi
iPad 7,1 - 7.9" Pro LTE
iPad 7,3 - 9.7" Pro WiFi
iPad 7,4 - 9.7" Pro LTE
iPad 7,7 - 12.9" Pro WiFi
iPad 7,8 - 12.9" Pro LTE

Maybe they aren't testing or just haven't seen the 12.9" Pro Identifiers yet?
I guess you meant the second 7,9" Pro LTE to have the 7,2 identifier. Then it makes sense and would possibly leave two options open, namely 7,5 and 7,6 - 10.5" Pro WiFi and LTE?

I just call some nonsense here and say that whereas the 12.9" Pro can (almost) two vertical regular iPad apps horizontally, the same will be true for the 10.5" iPad regarding (almost) two vertical iPad mini apps. I know the resolutions are the same, it's just the perceived size that matters. Thoughts?

Good points made on the model identifiers by others.

Points to the identifiers mentioned in the article being iPad minis and 9.7" iPads. Now, as a big if, if Apple are replacing the 9.7" Pro with a 10.5" Pro of the same physical size (roughly), then we are still missing the 12.9" model identifiers.

According to past identifier patterns it would be

7.1 - New iPad mini Wifi
7.2 - New iPad mini LTE
7.3 - New 9.7" or 10.5" iPad Wifi
7.4 - New 9.7" or 10.5" iPad LTE

The current models of 9.7" iPad Pro and iPad mini 4 stay on as budget options.

The more poignant question would be where is the 7.5 and 7.6 identifiers that would logically correspond to a 10.5" device and the 7.7 and 7.8 identifiers that would be a new 12.9" iPad Pro???

Apple hasn't only been about macs, since Steve announced they would change the name Apple Computer to Apple Inc. Get used to it.. Most computer companies are not dedicated to computers only anymore.

I guess they also will announce new macs at the next iPad event.

I do think Apple are planning to make the iPad Pro a pro device even more so with software updates i don't see a problem with the hardware. The next iPad's that are revealed will be interesting, i hope they keep the 12.9" as well as adding the 10.5" iPad Pro it will give a choice, the bezel less idea has already got me pondering. As for the iPad only being for entertainment and consumption i don't believe that's true anymore, creation is also possible

I think this sums it up a little https://televisionmagnets.wordpress.com/2017/03/10/ipad-pro-as-a-laptop-replacement/
