I agree with your opinion but I've a problem with one...

How come a company the size of Apple with so little products (compared to other companies active in the same area) to focus on isn't able to get more out of the pipeline or have comparable competitive products with the latest tech coming out?

Remember everybody laughed at Microsoft or Google when they came out with hardware as well? I still can hear the managers at Apple saying that no one can match in integrating the hard-, software like Apple...

Here we are a few years later and almost everybody makes great looking, innovative and high quality devices with better specs (computers and phones) at half the price Apple is willing too.

Siri, maps, or even photo app or imovie see only incremental updates year after year. Cloud offerings aren't competitive and AppleTV is getting overhauled by the competition. Although the hardware of the iPad Pro is nice... material is cheap an iOS is laughable.

If Apple wants to grow, it needs to start to take it's customers seriously. It hasn't with the Mac. It hasn't with the iPad.
If Apple starts to lose even more marketshare with the iPhone (maybe not in the USA) vendors and software developers will start to see it as a secondary priority. I see this happening in my home country where Huawei has taken over Apple in the speed of lightning with very good quality products at a reasonable price.

The Huawei makes phone calls just as well as Apple. Why choose Apple? If you're on that design and services thread they have you. But for how much longer?

Interesting times ahead for Apple.

you dont get it. its part of the unnecessary entertainment, the real issue is not the clickbait, its that you can bend the ipad under circumstances, that are not complete unlikely in real word usage. its poor internal design. 10s of the video are important, the rest is the normal youtube stuff/bs.

everybody knows how the youtube business works, thats not the point at all.....

the 11 ipad generation is a beta design. like a shiny object in the stoneage. not productive at all, mainly, because the lack of software.... stuff like this is just a bonus

I can crack my iPhone X in half. That doesn’t mean it’s a flawed design.

And I’m pretty sick of folks saying the iPad Pro isn’t productive because of a lack of software, which just isn’t true.

Usage varies, but I’m a professional artist and I’ve basically given up using my iMac & Wacom Cintiq and use my iPad for all my illustration work (and once Photoshop is released next year, I doubt I’ll ever need to touch my iMac for any amount of drawing)

This whole thread (and “bendgate in general) is just full of hyperbole.

Glad I decided to hold off on buying one of these. Not only are they too expensive, but people are generally rougher on tablets than, for instance, a laptop that’s similarly priced.

I wonder if a lot of these will end up getting “touch disease” or something similar down the road, like all the iPhones that were affected negatively by slight bends.

Me to man. Was keen to buy one but after seeing the reports of thin glass that deforms the LCD when pressed with even the slightest amount of force and its ability to bend. I'll see what next years model is like. Will we get a price drop?

Well, I can bend my TV as well as my Mercedes. But why would I?
It's all about applying enough force.

I can't believe there so many people out there that would deface their iPads (sarcasm). Ok, so the only thing I can take seriously is the bending but not to that extreme. When something is thin, you can expect it to bend so it is wise to use a durable case to help reduce it and by being careful when it is in a backpack.

Another test from my favorite Mac guys:

The new iPads don't come with a skeleton to hold the shiny skin.

Apple fan logic: Apple made it thin so you can put a case on it to enjoy how thin the device is under that case.

Please, use common sense. I criticize Apple, because I care and I want them to create better products. They make good products, but not great as few years ago. Apple won't make better products if you don't criticize them about all those issues (bad QA, insane prices, messed up product line).

I love my MBP 15" 2015. The only issue is that I had to replace swollen battery with less than 200 cycles and I have this weird little white spot on the screen. Which is almost not visible. But non of these issues make me hate that computer. It's the best MBP they made.

I love my iPad Pro 9.7". It's fast, has nice screen, solid piece of hardware, never had an issues with it in last 2 years. It was worth every penny.

Issues / mistakes happen, but a smart person / company won't do them again. We reached the point where nobody cares about the thinness of those devices. Thinness is not lightness, I also like lighter devices, they could just use stronger & lighter materials to make the devices more solid.

"Normal use" could involve the odd stress here and there. Videos like show just how incredibly easily the device deforms under pressure.

If nothing else, it shows the need to have extra care to make sure it isn't sat on because it was left on the couch, dropped, or placed in a bag where it experiences stress.

But that’s the thing, if you sit on anything made of GLASS there’s a risk of it cracking. Plenty of devices and things can deform under pressure Lol.

I don’t know... It just seems like a non-story to me. iPhone 6 Bendgate was super real and worrisome. This? Not so much.

Being someone who always used a case on their iPad, a thinner lighter iPad with case is always a thinner lighter iPad with a case. Ill take it.

Anyways I dont see what the big deal is with the iPad. I can understand this being a severe issue with a phone being you put it in your pants pocket but the outrage with the iPad is a bit silly :)"

That's the problem here... you don't need to use force.

I’m curious to see how common this turns out to be. Meaning people having it in a backpack and it bending without much force applied.

I’m looking to get one soon. As of now though I don’t think it’s a major issue.

You're not really going to get an answer to that. If you are prone to believe the reports, then you will believe them... if not, then you won't... because "without much force applied" is subjective. And even if someone did a controlled test using an hydraulic press that indicates the pressure applied comparing the 3rd gen Pros to previous gens, there will still be those people who will dismiss the results as not reflective of real world scenarios.

I thought the same as you first. But after some investigation and seeing test of guys who are normally very positive of Apple, I'm holding off buying one. As you can see in various bending test on you tube you don't need to use force at all to make it bend. Seems like a real issue to me!

Well I was tempted to purchase one but after investigating this particular issue I'm convinced its just skin without a proper skeleton.

I’m holding my iPad right now. I’m telling you, it doesn’t just bend in half on it’s own.

These “review” videos make it seem like a gentle breeze can break them, which isn’t the case. You have to actually TRY to break it, you know? These guys ARE using force, and while PERHAPS the 2018 iPad is easier to break, it certainly isn’t EASY to break or bend.

Bending or bowing shouldn't be the real concern but what the flexing will do to the internal connections. That is something that will not be plainly visible but might result in glitches and failures down the road.

To each their own! But I'm holding off. I have had several bending issues with Apple products in the past with the first Magic Keyboard II being the worst. It bent overtime without even touching it like a banana.

I'm in the market for a new tablet because I'm still using my iPad Air. Every test the guy makes in the video happened to my iPad Air before. Standing on it... falling from the sofa... sitting on it (all not on purpose). This happens even as you are careful with your things.

I don't see excessive force and the Mac guy admits it's the easiest iPad to bend.

So you believe these iPad’s just melt and bend like a ice cream bar in the sun?

Cool cool cool.
This type of snide remark makes me laugh. 3rd of April 2010, Apple introduces the iPad. Did anyone ever say it's "prone to bending"? no, because it wasn't.

30th October 2018, Apple introduces new iPad Pro models. Do people say they are prone to bending? Yes, and there's videos.

The only thing that has changed is Apple's attitude towards the device; make of it what you will....

For me the bending and bowing would be a real concern because one of the reason I buy Apple is that they are appealing to look at. If I've a banana iPad it would irritate me every day.

I’m not a scientist, but I’m pretty sure when you break something over and over, the structural integrity becomes compromised...in this case, the broken glass makes it easier to bend.

But hey, you’re right. To each their own.

My personal option is that if you don’t intend to fold your iPad in half like the a Al Jaffee Mad Magazine fold-in, then you’re probably not going to run into issues.

You forgot to mention the rise in price and incremental software updates ;) (sorry, couldn't resist)
