I'm not kidding. Any weight difference is appreciated when you carry a lot of items around. It all adds up.
Not to worry as it is getting harder and harder for Apple to introduce something that is REALLY better.
Not real impressed with the iPhone 5, it has only a taller screen and it lighter but at the expense of making it more fragile.
There is only so much that can be done with a tablet, the mini will sell good as it is smaller/different but will lack any new capability! You iPad is good!
It is only taller, much improved display, faster WiFi, introduction of 4G LTE speeds, and TWICE as fast with the Apple A6 with twice the memory and significant improvement in battery life, and... wait..

I had replaced my original iPad when the new iPad came out back in March. Picked up a white 32GB on launch day. Now I find out that Apple is already going to refresh the new iPad next week? Come on.... Is it me or is anyone else bothered by this. Granted, I love advancements in technology just as much as everyone else. But to have my iPad deemed to be obsolete in a mere 7 months is crazy. Next thing I'll probably find out that there are certain Apps that won't run on the New (now old) iPad.
All it likely means is that expectations can be totally re-set for the iPad 4. It will have to demonstrably better than a mid-year refresh to accomplish wall street expectations for sales given the overwhelming success of the iPad 3.
If Apple wants to raise their own bar, we win.
Actually, if Apple updates the iPad now, then we could be looking at October 2013 for the iPad 4.
That's not a huge issue, given what I'm guessing is the introduction of the Apple iTV next year and a few other significant products - iMacs (the update tomorrow probably doesn't have the high end), Retina Thunderbolt/iMacs, and possibly Retina Macbook Airs. Along with the iPhone 5S and other mild updates.

I don't see any problem with Apple updating their product every few months, you do. So if you like to given Apple a call to compalint. To me, when I buy a TV, a car, a dishwasher, a pc..., I paid for what I get and no one promise me that they won't upgrade the item in a certain timeframe. Did Apple make that promise for you?. As an example, if I want to use my Ipad 3 for 3 years, should Apple stop upgrading them in that 3 years so that they won't piss me off. What about my friend who buy another Ipad 3 6 months after I do. He also want to use it for 3 years. So when should Apple upgrade Ipad 3???? What you are demanding is beyond bizarre.

I agreed. The only thing I don't like IPAD 3 is the weight (1.5lb) . It is very hard to use it for a long time holding it with one hand without constantly shifting my hand. I would love to have a new Ipad 3 that weight around 1lb... and Ipad mini weight in the 10-12 oz range will be even better..
if they do a revised iPad 3 with better battery life, i would definitely consider trading my current gen iPad 3. the battery life on this thing sucks compared to my iPad 2. i don't care what the specs say...this battery life is inferior period

the A5X barely can power the iPad 3 and actually i have found it insufficient. heck my iPad 2 would hang and stutter less than my iPad 3. that retina screen destroys the A5X like it's breakfast.
an A6 in the iPad 3 would be easily noticeable and greatly enhance the fluidity of the entire experience. to me, it's worth it to pay extra now that i am hooked on retina and cannot go back to an iPad 2

No you didn't. You heard a rumor. It's not fact. And even if they do all that might be happening is a which to the lightning port. In which cause, so what.
And even if they do up the processor or such it isn't like your iPad doesn't work anymore. Tech changes, if you can't handle that you don't have the latest and greatest all the time and that yes you might buy something and see it changed up the next month perhaps you need to just stop buying stuff.

IF this change is happening and frankly I don't think it is unless Apple is moving to a Fall release on the iPad and there will be no Jan-March release anymore, they will either clearance out the 'old' ones or they have stopped production on them already and will sell them until they run out and release the 'new' ones in a month or so.

"sold out" means nothing unless you have numbers. The HP Slate "sold out" in preorders but then they admitted they only made 5000 units to begin with
i am spoiled by the iPad 2's insanely long battery life despite heavy usage
the iPad 3 battery life is still impressive, without a doubt, considering what it is. however the iPad 2 was substantially better
The A6 has less GPU prowess vs the A5X. It might gain something from the new core and higher memory bandwidth, but the GPU will be slower, unless they throw down an A6 with new GPU architecture.
The new ipad and the iphone 4s are not slow at all, especially at web browsing, if anyone here has one that is you have a lemon and should have brought it back.
People people. Where have you seen any updates for the ipad that are actually confirmed? This is the iphone 4s rumors all over again, that people are falling for.
We had leaked iphone 5 photos coming in months ahead of schedule. All while have seen nothing apart form one photo, that looks cropped, for an updated ipad.

I think the only reason to update is Lightning. iPad is the only i device not Lightning equipped now.
Numbers or not it's still irrelevant.
If the numbers were the holy grail they're made out to be, no other brand would sell. I don't give sales volume a second thought.
But then again I don't have a need to impress anyone.
I would be really disappointed with Apple if they released a newer large iPad. It's been only 6 months since they released the iPad 3. Apple always waits a year until they release a new version of their product.

The new iPad does have more RAM than the iPad 2.
1GB vs 512mb.
I am aware that the iPad 3 has 1gb of ram. I would be happier with 1.5 or 2gb of ram. The Samsung note 10 has 2gb of ram. The iPad 2 should have had 1gb of ram.
i really don't know what to think. on one hand i think it would be good to update the ipad with the new lightning connector on the other hand i doubt they would do a major update after 7 months. this would mean they'd have to update all their products at about the same time and would leave nothing for 1. or 2. quarter (if they'd keep the update cycle like this). but a small update with just the connector wouldn't make sense either. there are so many ipads in stores with the old connector that haven't been sold yet, this would cost apple so much money. really not sure.... but we'll see

I agree. Even with 2gb of ram I found the note 10 to be laggy. On the other hand 512mb of ram wasn't enough for my iPad 2. I had memory issues as soon as multiple apps or browser tabs were running at the same time.
