Hmm okay apple is completely reasonable, There's nothing wrong with selling a device holding back features then a couple months later release the same device with only a few new features that they could have added to the older model to begin with. You completely missed the meaning of my reply. I want apple to produce devices with all features included instead of only adding the bare minimum to device refreshes/updates. I think I'm in titled to feel this way I'm the consumer buying apple devices. They should focus more and listen to there customers feedback and it is frustrating when they do this. I like apple devices and if they could listen and meet the buyers needs I'd buy more from them bare minimum product updates are ridiculous and apple is too greedy stop nit picking about punctuation take that time and energy and put it to better use

you are definitely feeling entitled

I had replaced my original iPad when the new iPad came out back in March. Picked up a white 32GB on launch day. Now I find out that Apple is already going to refresh the new iPad next week? Come on.... Is it me or is anyone else bothered by this. Granted, I love advancements in technology just as much as everyone else. But to have my iPad deemed to be obsolete in a mere 7 months is crazy. Next thing I'll probably find out that there are certain Apps that won't run on the New (now old) iPad. :(

Its amazing how many people on macrumors have no idea what the word "obsolete" means, don't confuse obsolete with superseded. The iPhone 1 would be an example of an obsolete product imo.

Yup. Plus same people pay no attention to history - same 6 monthly iPad refresh rumour every year, it's never happened yet (it could of course, but until it does, it's unsubstantiated bs) - and are under the mistaken impression that one must have the newest/shiniest or bust. I personally find it a bit sad tbh, and I'm a tech nerd myself. I buy stuff when I feel it's a sufficient upgrade, my old version is showing its age or gadget lust kicks in. At no point is it based on wa-wa, my device is not the newest, I need to validate my existence. Nothing whatsoever to do with money, I'm hardly rich, but I'm comfortably off and have plenty of disposable income.

Mini + tweaked iPad with lightning connector at most. Please move along.

I didn't have time to sort through 5 pages of posts, but I literally bought an iPad on Saturday. Hell, I knew about the mini, but had no idea an updated iPad was coming out. I would like to get the updated features...I know in the past Apple has been good when people buy things right before a refresh....correct? Any ideas on how I go about it? Thanks...Todd

If you bought it on Saturday you're still within the 14 day return period. I don't think there will be an issue with returning it to get the new one.

You have 30 days to return the one you bought for a refund

Bought the iPad 3 first day. I'm not even mad though, I just know now not to upgrade every year. Thanks Apple

Not necessarily. An obsolete product to one user could be a revolutionary product to another.

I feel like we will see the new 7.85" iPad as well as the updated 9.7" iPad with A6, new connector, etc. at this event and will not see another update until February or March 2014.

The A6 is very much able to stay competitive for 16 months instead of 12. This update happens to be a few months earlier than normal because of the new connector as well as it conveniently being timed with the Surface release. Starting in 2014, both the 7.85" and 9.7" iPad will be updated at the same time yearly.

I might be wrong, but it makes sense to me :apple:

I told ya'll so! Except replace A6 with A6X and 7.85" with 7.9" :p

Sold my iPad 3 the other day on Craigslist for $500 cash...

Im not upset, just baffled. I'm going to call the ipad 4 the ipad 3s because that's all it is, the only upgrade is its abit faster and better camera, none of those two features got people to purchase iPads, I would consider the ipad in four or five years time a worthy upgrade

Like I said in a previous post.. I bought a 2012 Honda Accord in June and Honda released the new designed 2013 Honda Accord last month... That was nearly a $30k purchase... Did Honda "screw" me? No! It works the same way as it was sold to me.

Car companies almost always release their new lineup around the same time. There are no surprises with that.

i seriously doubt a new full size ipad coming tomorrow because normally the new skus show up in best buy inventory a day or 2 beforehand...

Doubt no more! A new iPad is here! I think it's BS - I feel dupped! First Lance, now Apple! They better offer a refund credit for all us supporters who purchased the new iPad back in March. It's the least they could do.

You can't compare the 2. You buy an auto expecting a new model in a year. It's the way it works. On the other hand, you buy a new iPad hoping to have the latest technology for a least a year. This, in my opinion, is gouging the consumer. My 7 month old iPad has just been greatly devalued!

Furious.. pretty much knocked £200 off the value of my iPad in a few seconds. I realise it is not obsolete, but it is now old tech and such the value is already tanking. And moreso then usual because of the fact it has been completley replaced!

I would happily keep my current iPad, but the complete devaluation of something that is pretty much brand new is infuriating.

This is not the Apple I know.

Now when I do decide to upgrade it will cost me more. when the iPad 5 comes out it will cost me £100-£200 more to upgrade than it would have if it had been left until March.

Thanks for the English lesson! I do know the difference between obsolete and superseded thanks to my college education. Simple definition: no longer in use or a kind of style no longer current. I think by today's announcement, the 7 month old iPad is now obsolete!! Will it still work? YES. Do existing apps still run, YES. That's beside the point!

I can compare the 2.. Honda typically changes designs every 4 years and they changed it after 3. Which "devalued" my car. My point is the device still works EXACTLY as it did earlier this morning, before the iPad 4 announcement. Apple doesn't guarantee or promise any safety nets with items being "devalued". Give me a ****ing break. Your sense of entitlement is out of line.

well by the logic of some of the drones in here your car is obsolete now, the wheels should be falling off any day now

You missed my point entirely! And I do not have a sense of entitlement - how you inferred that confuses me. But, if that's what you think, so be it. My original thread was to the point that I was upset to buy a product that was replaced in less than a year with a revamped iPad thus making my 7 worth less. A boat I'm not alone in. Will I replace my current iPad, no. But, I am entitled to my opinion. To your point, your car wasn't devalued when Honda redesigned it in 3 years instead of 4. It was devalued the minute you drove it off the lot! That's just how the auto market works. Which is why I originally noted that the 2 are not comparable.

I'm happy as long as they release a new iPad in March next year. It will be my first. :D
Doubtful. Not sure why people are too surprised. Just like next year, it'll be a spec upgrade for the iPhone 5. Just like Apple move the iPhone from Summer to Fall.
