All black with rounded edges looks incredibly cool. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

5.5 is way too big for me, 4.7 will be perfect.

Agreed, it looks like a gigantic phone. Can't imagine it on your pocket and that huge brick in your face when talking.
Well, I guess if this is true, I will hold my judgment when I actually see one for real.

Well, you can see it today with every other phablet ...

Quite embarrassing TBH

I love the look, especially the all black one. On a side note, the design does not look like an easy one to manufacture. The round edges are easy in plastic, but I have no idea how much work wound entail making this design out of aluminum. Stamped aluminum like the ipod touch instead of cnc?

Everyone only talks about the size of the screen, but it's really the size of the casing, and having the biggest screen you can fit in it.

That is absolutely true... But... Apple is kind of stuck in a tough spot because they are NOT going to get rid of that physical home button any time soon. And as long as it's there they will also have an equal amount of bezel on top.

If they're going to insist on keeping it then ideally they'd go with a button that's wider and shorter but then they'd be accused of copying Samsung.

damn, that red one is just ridiculous. The 4.7 seems to be the sweet spot if you want something larger than the current 5S.

The red one is Lumia 1520 and it's not bigger than the HTC One Max ... That is phablet world, deal with it.
I'm very torn about that .... I'd like a device to substitute my smaller tablet (a 7" nexus) and my secondary phone (a Lumia 925), and a phablet could be the right choice.
But I'm worried it would be awkward to use as a phone and too small to use as a tablet ..... :(

Hopefully there will be 4/4.7/5.5

With possible new mba coming up, it's exciting time for apple fan!!

I am now convinced that the case images provided by Sonny Dickson are the real deal. We now know exactly what the case looks like and it does not have the antenna breaks depicted here or on the HTC one.

It's kind of an odd thing for me, but after loyally buying Apple products on nearly a clockwork timeline since 2000, I am kind of at a saturation point. I have the iPhone 5, my wife has the 5S. I am finding I am spending my time in a more balanced fashion, less time on the net, less time on the computers since they are recently upgraded and fast as heck....just less time on devices in general and I am really happy about that.

Balance....

So I would normally be in line for an upgrade and if for no other reason, it is a good idea for wear reasons, especially the battery. But for some reason, I am not all that keen to get a bigger and thinner phone so I will have to see what the specs really end up to be but to be honest, unless I am wowed beyond belief at the new hardware, I might just get a 5S when eligible and call it good since I really like the size and form factor.

I get why people on a site like this are *really* into these announcements / upgrades, it's their thing, job, hobby, passion or life, this technology stuff....

I guess I have just grown out of it and would rather spend my life in the real world instead of the virtual one, so I am likely either going to stick with my current phone or get a 5S and be perfectly happy. And to tell you the truth, a lot of my colleagues and friends are feeling the same notion of being "Over it" and are finding a better life balance too...

For those who's passion / life is this stuff, I hope the new i-6 is all you are wishing it to be...

Right. Get back to us once the iPhone 6 arrives and tell us how you feel. :p Not that I don't believe you, but we're all closet (or not so closet) technophiles here no matter how much we try to convince ourselves that we're not.

Steve said, 3.5" is the perfect size for a smartphone.

Image

And who's hand radius is that of exactly? Must be a little kid or something. I can reach every point of a 5.2 display easily and can reach every point except the lower left corner of a 5.7.

Really, these articles are getting old, how many times can macrumors post the same thing?

----------

I hope they bring the glass back. I maybe in the minority though.

My favourite iPhone is still the 4S.

This. The Bezels are huge by today's standards but the 4S is and was the peak of smartphone design.

Those huge devices acting as phones are the latest gimmick to drive people to buy smart-watches. So people will justify paint for another device that "makes sense" to reduce the size of the device that is put next to your head for talking over the phone.

Isn't this basically moving the industry back to the 90s like when Palm Pilots and PDAs or digital agendas were used in tandem with a cellphone? people were carrying around two devices or more to accomplish something.

Nowadays some people even carry all day long 4 devices: a smart watch, a laptop, a tablet and a phone. And don't forget those hug he headphones and the CarPlay unit in the car.

If Steve got on stage today and said the 3.5" screen was the perfect size, people would laugh in his face. 3.5" was the perfect size in 2007, not in 2014.

Can we just jump to the last part? Do a lot of apple users wear skinny jeans? I have put a galaxy note in my pocked with no issues. I wear dockers, you don't need a fanny pack or man purse to carry something even that size.

Apple should have been the first to market with a bigger screen phone, not because it's innovative, it's not; it just makes sense.

Stop whining already.

It looks good, maybe good enough for me to upgrade from my unlocked, unsubsidized 5s. I would like to have 2GB of ram and 128GB capacity, so if it doesn't have that, I'll have to wait.
