Definitely a marketing move from Apple to appeal to her audience base, which I assume is Teens and younger.

I sincerely doubt that.

Apple's true intentions are still unknown -- to you, to me, to everyone here. The pulling of the video in no way is evidence of Apple not authorizing the video. It's possible that pulling the video after the bait was taken was part of the plan from the start. We just do not know.

You can speculate as well as I and make your own conclusions. It doesn't make either of us wrong since it IS all speculation on our parts. If the facts ever come out then we can talk. But regardless, is Apple's security that lax that it would allow the unauthorized recording? I think not. Industrial spies are everywhere, even in plain sight. No way Apple allow taping on it's campus w/o it's permission. Do you disagree with that?

My initial and current appraisal of the video is based solely on what is happening on the video and by whom. I'm not sure how you can so blithely ignore what is going on in the video, where it's taking place, and by whom, to make your own conclusion. But you are entitled to it, still. We'll disagree as to whether it's a PR viral video that got people talking days from launch or as you seem to imply, it was an "idiot" Apple engineer allowing his daughter to put his job in jeopardy with a vlog about an unreleased iPhone X.

Im pretty sure the dad just had his daughter take it down, because it of all the views it was getting overnight

Shot from a couple of feet away on the iPhone's ~28mm lens. Think of it like the saying, "The camera always adds 10 pounds".

Or should that be X pounds?

UPDATE: Saw the video again and realized it wasn't an iPhone doing the shooting, but a DSLR. I still think the focal length was ~28mm.
As I said, she's not a teen and she is a vlogger. Here is the gear she uses.

She could be the Queen of England and it wouldn’t matter if she shot it on a Red camera... her dad did something he wasn’t supposed to do and she got him in trouble by showing the device that he was not allowed to show.

Update (8:45 a.m. PT): The video has been removed from YouTube.

oh.. should have got in sooner.

Say what you will about the notch, it is distinctive. In the sea of rectangles, an iPhone will still stand out. And as long as the notch does not obscure content (app layout, games and videos and such), which I am sure will be choppy in the beginning and will get sorted out in a few months, the distinctiveness the notch gives the iPhone will be as invaluable to the iPhone image as the home button was.

What do mean by Apple is very clear about marketing? When it comes to marketing, any company including Apple, should be open to "unconventional" marketing that can be potentially more beneficial under certain circumstances. It helps to keep it real sometimes.
Yes, but Apple has always sold us a lifestyle. They want you to be that person in the ad for example (with the original Apple Watch ads, iPhone 5 ads etc.). This really feels off-brand for Apple because it does not convey a must have feeling. Her dad still has this old Wallpaper from 2009/2010, I think, as a background, etc. It does not feel very "cool", not even for a young person.

The cafeteria is the most public place on a campus. People from many different departments inside Apple will go there. Most Apple employees will not have access to pre-release products. Security doesn't start at preventing any video there. Security starts by limiting foremost the number of people with access to unreleased products and secondly by limiting where they can take it and use it. The breach is not the filming in the cafeteria, the breach is transporting something to the cafeteria and more importantly showing something to somebody at the cafeteria when 99% of the people that have the right to be in the cafeteria (which, as it is abundantly clear, even includes guests) are not cleared to see the pre-release product.

Sure, Apple could frisk everybody entering the campus, including the cafeteria, and confiscate any hardware capable of taking videos to prevent filming. But it is much easier to instruct the people with access to unreleased products not to take their device out of the pocket while outside of rooms that only approved people have access to. Apple isn't the CIA, do you think it should disallow any video recording devices on its campus? Or should it have a security guard watching over everybody's shoulder? If Apple cannot trust its employees that have been given access to unreleased products, how could it trust the security guards watching over them?

The video is taken by the daughter of an Apple employee simply because only Apple employees have an iPhone X at this point (and in particular at point the video was actually taken at). The video was taken on Apple premises because the iPhone X was not allowed to leave the Apple Campus. None of this requires any direction from Apple at all. What happened to the principle that the most simple explanation is the most likely one?

But I am fed up with people who cannot accept that most unexpected stuff is just happening by accident. I am fed up with people who think the world is so simple that everything can be directed by a small clique at the top. This irrational need for high-level purpose behind everything is one of the things that sometimes let's me despair at the world.

Why the heck is the phone so thick? Yuck. Looks thicker than the plus phones.
Something is off with the aspect ratio on this video. Everything looks fat. When you see the front of the phone, it is much less tall (or if you want much wider) than it should be given the dimensions and official head-on images we have of it.

More than likely the crass consumerist tone of the video was seen as at odds with Apple’s more progressive humanitarian oriented image they’re usually trying to promote. The young lady herself has probably read the comments on her values here or somewhere and taken it down.

I think her comments would have gone over better had she seemed to be having more fun and a more lighthearted tone. Instead she seemed so bored and disconnected like she was dismissing her obvious blessings instead of appreciating and sharing them. IJustine is another California Vlogger who seems to like to shop but she’s got a charming demeanor that makes you feel a part of her adventures and her appreciation for everything.
exactly. After it was posted and people started talking about the entitled girl, Apple realized this was a mistake.

Not sure what's the big deal. For those who wants to see how the iPhone X works, simply re-watch the Apple keynote and watch how Craig demo things on the X. Nothing new here.

It's good to see it in a real life context though, as oppose to a carefully scripted demo.

She's NOT a 12 year old girl. She's a vlogger who is married and either has a kid, or is expecting one. Watch her other videos. SHe's also also using a couple thousand dollars of video gear to shoot the video, which again... she has a video explaining that I posted a few back. This video is the same style as her others... I believe she just posted it a few days too early, and her YouTube channel will be growing as a result of the oops.

Are you talking about the girl in the video? does that girl look anywhere near 12 to you? LOL! she's married and pregnant... if that was a 12 year old there would be a bigger problem

Shhh! You’re only supposed to complain when it gets thinner.

Thicker is absolutely fine if; A: Camera bump removed. B. Phone is smaller or more ergonomic overall (ie iPhone 3G/4/5).

The X still has a camera bump despite increased thickness, is more like a phablet in size being larger in every dimension than the already-large 6/7/8.
