Date on the Calendar is Friday the 15th. The 15th in October was a Sunday. The 15th in September was a Friday. This iPhone footage was shot on September 15th and is just now being posted because it might be a part of some marketing stunt. But why? Her channel has hardly any views and subscribers. Super weird. Also, why would an Apple feature Google Maps prominently on the home screen, along with a whole folder of "Church" apps and another filled with competing music streaming services? The only other thing I can think of is there is some sort of internal date that employee devices are able to be shown publicly and he made her sit on the footage. But then why did they allow her to bring a big dSLR with hotshoe mic onto the campus? Not much of this makes sense.

The date was already previously confirmed for when the video was made. Aside from that, I think you're reading way too deep into this. Clearly her father is an engineer of some sort for Apple and I guarantee you he has permission/consent with the campus and the iPhone X footage shown AND filmed. Apple isn't going to regulate everything this particular iPhone has for personal use.

Then why was the video just removed?

If they're expecting to have inventory on-hand for launch day, does that mean that this Friday's pre-orders will all be shipped and filled on launch day? Or are hopeful early adopters going to see their delivery dates pushed closer and closer to 2018, depending upon how many minutes past 12:01am they manage to get their orders in? (I mean, we've all heard the stories...)

The campus was beautiful. California is beautiful, at least the parts of it was I was fortunate to visit. I’m sad for the devastating destruction they’ve faced recently.

My comment was just posted after this article was updated with the removed video. There was no way of me knowing it was removed after the fact of my Post.

Regardless, a lot of your assertions were not relevant As to why the video pre-existed.

Yeah, but you're still wrong. :D

The video was filmed on September 15, 2017. Just 3 days after it was unveiled.

I don’t think so. I tend to believe MacRumors community who reliably informed us that this is a marketing strategy from Apple.

Missed you post in regards to it not being approved by Apple..... it's cool to jump on the bandwagon post action I guess....

why do people think he's going to get fired? there are 100s of videos on youtube showing off the phone, and playing with it in the apple campus, right after the event by reviewers and vloggers... how is this any different? so much cynicism lol

Well I guess the people thinking it's ok, just some marketing were wrong!

Why? Because removing a video can't be a marketing tactic? Make it more "legit" as something we are not suppose to see and make it more viral-worthy and forbidden. Do not doubt the clever ways institutions find passage into our heads. Sometimes you have to be counter-intuititive.

The video portion showing off the X is still up on Reddit. That's the part Apple cares about, right? The video was out long enough to get attention.

No less than your assertions. We don't know the full details behind this and the justifications of why this was filmed. That doesnt make my Post wrong, because it has not been verified or concluded anything pending after the video. Regardless, her father was or is an engineer for Apple based on the fact he clearly is using/testing the iPhone X. And the video exists on Reddit still as well.

I called you out. There is no evidence supporting anything you stated prior, it was all ill-assumed. Let alone full reasons as to why the video was posted to begin with, even if the video was removed after the fact. This video existed long enough to gain more than enough attention.

If I worked as an Apple engineer, I'd be mortified at having such a vacuous offspring only interested in endless shopping (with my money no doubt) and using my credentials to get likes on her YouTube account. Sad thing is, I get the impression he's proud.
She actually seems very intelligent, but she came across in a way she probably didn’t intend to, especially in light of the fact the video is now removed. If she spends most of her time in that environment she might not have been aware how far up the sticks are wedged up our butts here in the rest of the country and beyond. That goes especially for myself. I’m always paranoid about being too generous of a parent. I like to run a tight ship. :p

I have a friend from California, and she loves to talk up a spa day and mani pedi blah blah blah. But she’s actually whip smart and does a ton of humanitarian work. But if you were to catch her in a cross section of her day when she’s blathering on about shopping and nails and whatnot, you’d think she’s vacuous, too, but she’s not. She will tell you herself it’s just some sort of California girl thing that comes out. I don’t know because I’ve only ever visited there for brief stays each time. The people there seemed lovely for the most part. Much more polite than what I run into here at home.

I have some experience with this (iPhone 6 & 6 Plus after it was announced but before it hit the shelves) and I can tell you that Apple is NOT okay with random videos and photos of the device being posted to the internet like this via an engineer's daughter, friend, etc. If it can be easily traced back to said engineer, he/she is not going to get a pat on the back.

Because it was at the event...

The point is the phone was shown off all over youtube, its not a secret... Plus this guy is not an idiot otherwise he wouldn't be an apple engineer... Like he's really going to sit in the middle of the apple campus and let his daughter record him and answer her questions without clearance. come on lets use a little common sense here.

To be clear for those that are not aware:

Those that are allowed to "carry" the device (both before and after announcement) are held by strict agreements... basically the agreement is that you can use as your phone (but it's not yours), and do not show it to anyone that's not authorized to see it, and do not discuss features with anyone not authorized to discuss it. That agreement expires upon FCS (first customer shipment). Violations of this are treated seriously - it's a violation of your contract with your employer.
