She actually seems very intelligent, but she came across in a way she probably didn’t intend to, especially in light of the fact the video is now removed. If she spends most of her time in that environment she might not have been aware how far up the sticks are wedged up our butts here in the rest of the country and beyond. That goes especially for myself. I’m always paranoid about being too generous of a parent. I like to run a tight ship. :p

I have a friend from California, and she loves to talk up a spa day and mani pedi blah blah blah. But she’s actually whip smart and does a ton of humanitarian work. But if you were to catch her in a cross section of her day when she’s blathering on about shopping and nails and whatnot, you’d think she’s vacuous, too, but she’s not. She will tell you herself it’s just some sort of California girl thing that comes out. I don’t know because I’ve only ever visited there for brief stays each time. The people there seemed lovely for the most part. Much more polite than what I run into here at home.

It was like that show The Hills on MTV

Total cost of the episode was $80,000 now go run out and buy everything we showed off

Isn't there an embargo and NDA signed for this sort of thing? Usually the embargo is lifted just a few days before launch but this soon and from such an unqualified person...I dunno...seems like this is not sanctioned from the top. Could be a big mistake.

Historically, I always upgrade. But I feel the conflict within me about this product. Not sure what I'll do this Friday.

Same here. I'm due. However, the X is better than the 8+ which I normally would get, and I'd probably go for the X. However, that damn 'notch' is just so un-Apple. It's just so ugly, annoying, unbalanced and feels like such a lazy solve that I just can't come to terms that Ives allowed this through the design and approval process.

I'm holding out hope that next year's model will have a better solve for the notch. So I'll hold onto to my 7+ until there's a more attractive upgrade.

lol I'm sorry but it's hilarious people are up in arms about this and making a big deal of it.

Apple probably cares but that's it.

The phone has been announced and plenty of hands on videos

Sure it's in the wild / apple campus. And that's sweet but..

Big deal!

Preorders go up in two days phone ships in 9

If this were an unannounced model like iPhone 4 days I could understand the hype and drama

At this point doesn't make ANY difference IMO

Yes. The embargo is typically lifted for media typically the day before launch day (sometimes up to a week before). For employees, not until the first customer shipment happens.

Apple demanded the video be taken down because father called the phone iPhone Eks

It can be heard in the first half of the original video. He did correct himself later though, which can be heard in the second half.

No, I'm not joking

Pretty accurate.. though not in all cases. I can talk about the X.. just can't post a review or video using it right now. Not that I would, I'm not that kind of reviewer. It really depends on the product itself is how Apple handles releasing of data.

If I worked as an Apple engineer, I'd be mortified at having such a vacuous offspring only interested in endless shopping (with my money no doubt) and using my credentials to get likes on her YouTube account. Sad thing is, I get the impression he's proud.

I'm not sure how you can make the leap that her only interest is endless shopping or that she is "vacuous." Do you have access to her last report card or her current resume? She seems like a typical teen girl to me. She enjoys shopping. Many females do. Many guys sit in stadiums or in front of TVs for hours watching other guys play with balls, not to mention fill out fantasy league rosters -- hardly a more productive or intellectual past time than shopping, but it's a way to "escape."

If she had the impetus to make this video more power to her. It's not like she is a video professional with massive on-camera experience. Why judge her on that basis on a 5 min clip? Why judge her at all? Plenty of news reporters that look and sound smart on-air are empty vessels IRL.

To be clear for those that are not aware:

Those that are allowed to "carry" the device (both before and after announcement) are held by strict agreements... basically the agreement is that you can use as your phone (but it's not yours), and do not show it to anyone that's not authorized to see it, and do not discuss features with anyone not authorized to discuss it. That agreement expires upon FCS (first customer shipment). Violations of this are treated seriously - it's a violation of your contract with your employer.

I do beta tests for Netgear’s Consumer (ie Routers, Arlo Camers) and Buisness divisions (ie NAS etc) and have done some for Roku and even Epson as well, and they all had pretty much the same rules as part of their NDA. That guy should have been more careful.

Yeah this is not a game when we're talking hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars in revenue at stake. These are not slap on the wrist violations.

Did anyone snag a copy of the whole video? I only saw the one on reddit that was the 2nd part... curious about the shopping part everyone is up in arms about. (I need to get a life)

The Dad seems to be a real news junkie!

Video removed. Wonder if Apple did this teaser on purpose or this girl messed up.

How long have journalists and bloggers been using the phone? Do they even have review units yet? When will reviews drop?

If that guy wasn't authorised to show off, he's already been canned

FTFY ;)

I'm sorry, what's FTFY [along with laughing emoji, cause apparently I can't post the inbuilt emoji from my iPhone, so I'm typing instead]

I bet the girl said it "it's so huge"

Definitely a marketing move from Apple to appeal to her audience base, which I assume is Teens and younger.
No way, look her up, she has 315 followers. if she had maybe 100,000+ then I would say maybe but personally I think that is a little bit of a stretch. Also this is no way her Dad was not yelled at by his boss.
