Hi,

Just want to let you know that I get the "not available yet" -> flags -> "not availably yet" loop too. I am located in Slovenia.

I don't believe we'll be getting the iTMS here, but... who knows 🙄

Unfortunately, you won't be recieving ITMS tomorrow. But your friendly neighbor Molvania will, but unfortunely nobody there owns a computer and only one artist will be available, Spatzal!. Spatzal!, Two girls, one guy and a transvestite make up Molvania's most successful pop music act. Spatzal! was able to take fifth place in the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest with their catchy dance tune 'Vlarsh ei Czolom' ('Your Boogy I am Shaking').

Never heard of Molvania? Check it out here:

Maybe they'll group countries together:
itms northern europe (norway/finland/switzerland/sweden/netherlands)
itms germany (germany/add austria&belgium&poland)
itms canada
itms mexico
itms italy
itms spain

Switzerland is as much a part of Northern Europe as Missouri is on the West Coast and Belgium and Poland are not any more related to Germany than the Netherlands or the Czech Republic in that all are neighbours of Germany, although Belgium has a small German speaking minority and Poland a really tiny one.

my wish: black 60GB U2 iPod

OMG sorry but your wrong..

1) Northern Europe? You cannot group those countries together. MOST ARE NOT EVEN IN THE EU! Duh ;P Thats like linking Mexcio and the USA together... except it's more acurate because of Nafta!

2) Oh yeah cause we all know the belgian speak perfect GERMAN.. they speak dutch in half the country and french in the other half.. with a little bit of flemmish in there. The SWISS do speak german though.. A bastardized form.. but german none the less.

So your groups make NO sence at all.. Maybe we should group MEXICO and CANADA ALIKE if we do those groupings (rolls eyes) And dont expect a 60 gig U2 Ipod before a 60 gig regular one ;P

Sorry I get upset when people in the USA have no CLUE about europe!

Thanks for clearing that up. Very graceful sentence.

Oh man we just double spanked him.. where is the Geneva Convention on that one ;P Someone call the Red Cross.. Oh never mind they are busy swapping files with Germany 😛 LOL!

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the "not available in your country" message is the one that's been showing up since who knows when..

So, I'm thinking that this might be a global launch of iTunes with all offerings being available worldwide instead of a separate store for each country. Man, that would be awesome, there's so much euro music that I would buy in a flash if it was available here in the US. Also, could this be the reason why some of the European independent labels hadn't yet showed up in iTMS?

Don't confuse artists with locations. Digital music distribution rights are ridiculously complicated, and it's possible that Apple may own the right to distribute a particular album in one country but not in another.

I don't think we'll see an everything-everywhere model for a while.

I seriously doubt Apple can release the iTMS in so many countries at once...

By the way, I get the same error (not available->flags->not available loop)

Blame it on our wonderful world-class education system. Hell, most of our high school students could not even point out on a map where the United States was in a recent test.

Just that it seems they've added the word 'yet' to it, and that you cannot even browse anymore after selecting a flag. But this 'yet' it not very credible in places like Malaysia, Croatia and Slowenia (although the latter as part of the EU could get it, if Poland gets it as well, being quite a bit richer than Poland).

Although it is not exactly the same, most Europeans would have trouble naming more than maybe a dozen U.S. states.

There is nothing wrong with ignorance, as long as you aware of it.

it is good to see other parts of the world are being welcomed into itunes. Go apple let others see the light 🙂

Dutch or Flemmish

Correction, I am a Belgian, this is our situation:
There are 3 official languages: Dutch ('Nederlands'),French ('Français') and German ('Deutch'). 60% speaks Dutch, 40% speaks French and a minority speaks German (they are included in the percentage of French)

The Flemmisch somebody in this forum discussed is actually a synonym for Dutch, but it is possibly politically loaded: compare it to 'Australian': 'Australian' is actually English, but some wille say Australian because they like to stress the Australian Independence. Some say Flemmish because they like to stress that our Dutch is 'different' from the Dutch spoken in the Netherlands.
But actually it is the same language, with some regional variation in vocabulary, some words that people in the Netherlands say, we in Belgium would never use. And a little difference in pronunciation, but no big deal.

another way to check if you will have Itunes tomorrow...

on the Dutch site macosx.nl I found another way to check whether or not you will get itms in the very near future:

go to your local apple site,
go to the online store,
go to the ipod.

Check if you get specifications that you can browse and download music from the itunes music story.

It seems that both in the Netherlands and in Belgium, the text has been adapted,

It says that "thanks to the integrated Itunes Music Story you can browse through hundreds of thousands of tracks and audiobooks until you have found exactly what you were looking for."

Maybe this is a clue that the store is arriving: check it out and let us know!
How is this in your store?

I cam from that education system.. and I can get most of it correct.. but dont ask me those little African countries or break away soviet states.. cause BAM I got's NO CLUE! I dunno a Lithuania from a ummmm (insert random soviet breakaway here). Now a Zimbabwa from a ummm (insert random african country here.. not including south africa or kenya.. cause thats too god damn easy!)

At first I just got the "not available in your country yet" message, then the 4 flags, and I could browse using the browse button. But after trying the flags again I was able to access the German store. And through the German store I switched to each of the other 3 stores.

So, although I live in Canada I have access to all 4 current iTunes stores. But since I don't have an address in any of those countries I can't buy anything. Its just the same as it was before except I can access 4 stores instead of just US iTMS.

You can bet we won't see an everything-everywhere model for a LONG time.

Not only digital distribution is complicated. The big problem is the copyright registration: a song can be registered under different Music Publishing houses (BMG Music Publishing, EMI Music Publishing, Sony/ATV... see here) in different countries.

10 am pacific time is what 6pm in the UK so that will be what 03.00 am Sydney time i think late night for you Aus members

I'd never spank anybody 🙂
anyway, are your from the Netherlands?
And, our best export product is our music... (not the chocolate (went to Swiss), the French Fries are Belgian (want a recipy, I'll give it to you) and our beer, OK, our beer is another decent export product)

And I do not speak German, although I had some German at school, but I wouldn't be able to conduct a conversation in it. But I would probably understand what they would talk about since there are quite some similarities with Dutch, English, and French.

And what is Wienkle?

Your Belgian Friend

i'm pessimist

simply:

no poland, no czech, maybe no scandinavianand iceland, maybe no new zeland and mexico. i'm thinking about itms in netherlands, belgium, italy and spain.

We could always do that, just usually from within the store at the top left under "switch stores" upon which it would go to the same page of flags.

This text is there in the Swiss, Italian, Irish, Danish, Swedish, Austrian, Finnish, Spanish, Portuguese, Belgium and Japanese(!) store, but not in the Canadian and Australian one. It also not present in the Norvegian, Icelandic (Icelandian?), Greek, Czech and Polish store, but they have much less text anyway on that page, maybe they did not translate all of it. (Interestingly, the Finnish and Portuguese store is in English, although the main Apple web page is in Finnish/Portuguese.)
Luxemburg does not seem to have an Apple web page.

It looks like most if not all of the still iTMS-less EU-15 countries will get access (plus Switzerland and Japan). Sorry for Canada and Australia. Inconclusive on the new EU members like Poland and smaller Non-EU countries like Norway.
