Questions to the New Zealander and Puerto Ricans:
So you're not getting the Flag Loop thing?

Thanks in advance

if apple was to release the new Flash based iPod then they could flogg a truck load on the way towards x-mas ppl at work want to buy an iPod ,cos it's an iPod but do not want to spend more then £60-90 so if flashed based and with the new aac codec would be kinda cool as well as the launch of iTunes around the globe they could well and truly clean up at x-mas

iTMS is up and running - only login through iTunes doesn't work

I'm afraid the whole thing isn't an indicator for anything. It seems that login through iTunes is broken for all countries of the planet except for the USA, Germany, the UK and France. As Apple clearly stated earlier on, iTMS will only be launched for around 5 to 10 EU countries in October. It is extremely unlikely that Apple will launch new stores all over the world.

PLUS: iTMS is still up and running - and although I'm not able to enter the store through iTunes (I live in Switzerland), if I go to http://www.apple.com/de/itunes/store/ and click on the "Top100" link in the lower right corner, the store launches just as it did before. And there's NO Swiss content to be found anywhere. I for myself am highly sceptical that Switzerland's going to get a store tomorrow. For Austria and the Netherlands it seems to be looking better: lot's of local content has been popping up over the last couple of days.

Happens to Malaysia Too!

Just read this news and guess what, loaded up my iTunes to check.

Saw the message:-

"The iTunes Music Store is not available in your country yet...."

Clicked OK then saw the 4 flags.

Clicked on either one of the flags and it took me to the message again.

Does this means that iTMS will be coming to *Malaysia* too? Or are we reading too much into what could turn out to be a temporary maintenance shut-out

Cool!

Dunno if this was ever posted here, but here's something that might indicate canada is coming soon. Some guy asked Steve and got an answer. (Or so he says at least). That was on october 10.

E-mailing Eric, the 'some guy' in question, got me a response quickly. In short, the e-mail definitely looks real - it came from within Apple, anyways, and so the chance of it being from Steve Jobs seems pretty good if Eric is not pulling a scam.

Especially if you could find iTunes gift cards in the shops here in the UK...

if they can sell them like they sell phone top up cards they will make a killing in the UK

As far as an Australian store goes the Australian Financial review were pretty confident it would happen. I wouldn't expect them to publish something unless they had info a bit more concrete than rumour...

Especially with teenagers, and people like me who are sans credit card.

iTMS Link Maker still works

I did notice that the above still gives direct access to the store, after which browsing can still take place.

If you click ok, you'll be taken to the flag page.
And, whatever you choose the flag, you'll be back at the same warning page.
You can enter the store by clicking first
the eye button and double-clicking some of the genre, however.

Has anybody actually clearly read the instructions? It states that you are to click the "BROWSE" button, not the "OKAY" button. A rather diferent thing happens. Cleary the site is being updated, but it is no indication of whether a particluar country is getting the service or not. Hell, I'm in South Africa and get the same message.

Clicking the"BROWSE" button allows you to access the store content in "TEXT" only mode. That would be why one of the posters buddies could search the store. Nothing sinister going on, but there is definitely an upgrade taking place right as we speak.

If "loop effect" is happening in too many countries. IMO, we are all being too optimistic that *all* these countries are going to get itms tomorrow.

There will be disappointed people tomorrow.

In Malaysia this effect is occuring - no offence intended - but - I'm sure there are countries that Apple will support first before Malaysia.

And yes, Glading has nothing to hide, he does own an iPod and it's bursting with more than 400 albums. "I love iTunes and I love my iPod and I wish we had iTunes in New Zealand because I would be on it every day getting tunes."http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/businessstorydisplay.cfm?storyID=3603640

o well if Sony bosses( or ex) want itunes i say let em have it and put em out of the misery

Yeah it seems as though I got my hopes up to soon as well. Well at least there will be a new version of the iTMS tomorrow, and I can keep buying cds of american site with my girlfriends account.

Hi,

I flatly refuse to allow logic to enter into this.

Competition?

Interesting to see Sweden and the Netherlands in the list. Both big economically in Europe but still legal to download music.

In Sweden it seems the law will change early in 2005 but still an awful lot of music avaliable p2p which originats or was ripped in Sweden (Ripping is illegal).

The Flag Loop seems to exist for every other country except the 4 original ones already supported by iTMS, so I don't give it any credit as an indication whether iTMS will be available tomorrow in those countries or not.

But for the sake of completeness, please note that it also happens in Luxembourg. 🙂

For those who arent aware of it, Luxembourg is/will be the head quarter for the pan-european iTunes Music Store. There were even job offerings on mosnter.lu a couple of weeks ago, and I even went so far to check that it is a real adress/building where it will be located. 😉

Profit Margins are gonna go waaay up!

I forsee a very profitable quarter for Apple if they roll out that many addditional countries. Canada alone man. Go apple!

Maybe they'll group countries together:
itms northern europe (norway/finland/switzerland/sweden/netherlands)
itms germany (germany/add austria&belgium&poland)
itms canada
itms mexico
itms italy
itms spain

my wish: black 60GB U2 iPod
