No, my idea would be an iPhone 8 with slightly reduced bezels, at least the top bezel. But I guess at this point they just want to keep making profits from the same design, so the screen will remain untouched.

Yeah. I think the reusing of existing designs has sort of been “the thing” on SE models (so far)

I want to get rid of my 1st generation AirPods for the long overdue AirPod pro 2, hoping black & starlight will be the only options

Would be nice...but I wouldn't hold my breath

What would be acceptably less expensive for you?
I think they'll try to do a $2499 for 27" type of thing.

That work?

don't see why it would need to be more than the $1,299 LG 5k. Maybe an extra $300 for the metal chassis since it's Apple.

I wouldn't mind spending that much, because a monitor should be a long lasting product. I know people who still use the OG 30" Cinema Displays, so this should be something that is a 5-10 year investment.

I guess even with the A15, battery life will remain disappointing compared to the iPhone 11, 12 and 13. Maybe the SE 3 will have battery life equal to the 12 mini which had better battery life than the SE 2.

Where is Jon prosser?
There wouldn’t be anything for him to predict that’s not already been said from other analysts.

He discussed some of the other highlights in the latest podcast if you haven’t listened to it. I also think he’s starting to ‘scale back’ on some of his predictions, because he’s been taking a lot of heat for lack-there-of credibility, even though, some things he has said, has been semi-accurate.

2014 called and wants it's iPhone 6 back.

Seriously, I think the idea of the iPhone SE is great. But all the other mid-range manufacturers have moved onto relatively bezeless smartphones. Isn't it time Apple did the same?
I for one would love an iPhone 5 body with current-spec processor and camera.

The entry level iPad is expected to have A14, 5G, but retain the existing form factor. It's nothing revolutionary so I'm not surprised Apple sent it early for testing with Indian carriers even if it's not expected to launch soon.

For Watch 7, keep in mind only one person claimed completely flat edges - Prosser. No one else did. We know his reputation.
People forget that so did Gurman…

Just hope “Production Guru” Tim announces a final delivery date for 16” MBP’s ordered in OCT which is now stated into 5 MONTHS waiting time!!! So those who want whatever they announce be sure to hit the click only on Apple Store and ASAP if you want it this year.

This ain't a new story.

Recall back in September 2020. iPad Air was launched with A14. The iPad Pro continued to ride on A12Z. The sky didn't fall.

In the real world, buyers look at whole lot more than just the processor when making a purchasing a decision.

I agree. Cost is the number one factor for the domestic consumer and regardless of the spec differences, that 2020 iPad Air bridged the gap for those who wanted a mid tier device without paying an additional £250 on top. So many people on here will say ‘you might as well pay the extra for the Pro’ but it doesn’t work like that. Everybody has different thresholds for what they want to pay for a product and specs often come secondary in my experience.

Nice to hear the new Air is rumoured to only be a minor upgrade. I would imagine the Air 4 will be a great buy once this is released.

The constant obsession with iPhones and iPads and constant updates and events for them is becoming SO tedious and frustrating.... especially when they put so little time and effort into their desktops these days. Apple always used to be a computer company first and foremost and its so depressing that it's like getting blood from a stone to get decent iMac updates from them. I've been waiting nearly 10 years now with my ageing 27" iMac, the constant delays and pushing back of the new 'pro' is ridiculous.

Low-cost…
LowEr-cost, if anything. Looking at the current SE, $400 for an iPhone 8 with a new processor isn’t and never was low-cost, it was just cheaper than any other available iPhone. The M1 Mac Mini isn’t low-cost either, is it.
Nitpicky me, I know.

I mean, isn’t that what a “digital-only” event is - an update to the website before making it available to buy??
“Digital-only” events have so far referred to prerecorded events that are released/aired at 10AM on a Tuesday. No audience, more slickly produced. Not just a press release, or simply a website update.

I don’t see the relation here at all. You’re literally comparing a smart phone to the likes of a desktop/iMac, totally two different platforms for different use cases.

So, you commented on the ‘constant obsession with iPhones and iPad.’ What does that even mean? It’s Apples primary source of revenue in terms of hardware that has the most significant popularity amongst consumers. And naturally, the iPhone has always carried popularity, because of its heritage under Jobs, which has more significance to the consumer.

Apple always used to be a computer company first and foremost
It’s not realistic to expect Apple to be just a ‘computer company’ anymore like they were 20 years ago, and they’ve conformed to the likes of how technology has matured and shifted, you seem to be stuck back in the ages of what Apple was around/before the Steve Jobs era. I don’t think it’s the expectation Apple should be the same company they were 20 years ago, as they dynamically change as much as technology progresses.

I've been waiting nearly 10 years now with my ageing 27" iMac
From my perspective, you just seemingly are the type of person that will never upgrade, and rather would find complaints and faults why Apple doesn’t ‘meet your expectations’. If you’ve been ‘waiting 10 years to upgrade’ with your iMac, then it’s evident you’re not serious enough to consider actually upgrading for that length of time that’s surpassed.

This revisits the rationale of why they used the M1 SoC because of A15 SoC availability. A15 appeared in Oct with new iPhones, while the revised M1 IPad Pros were in April. Given that iPadOS 15 was not what people wanted its makes things more to complain about. ;)

Does the next iPad Pro even need to use a M2 or will it return to a more power efficient A16?
My personal take: I think that ship has parted. I’ll be looking towards M chips on iPad Pro’s from now on… I was on an iPP 11” 2018 (amazing little utility machine, used it a lot), passed it onto a younger brother and now got into a 12.9” M1 (8GB).

While definitely overkill most of the time, it’s crazy snappy, Procreate’s 3D model painting/texturing capabilities definitely had visible hiccups on the 2018’s one. Not at all on the M1. Also Affinity Photo, Designer, etc flies.

Maybe larger screens get M chips and smaller ones A chips.
To be honest I don’t mind if the future M’s performance is matched with an A16X chip though… however irrational, after having tasted it, wouldn’t want to dial back in performance even if that power is only really used at specific times.

I would totally embark on that. At the same time, 10 years ago $1000 for a TB display my young green self deemed it excessive, so I bought one open box and 6 months later another one used for $700, both of which are still going strong to this day. Bright as the first day, still colorful, no signs of wear or failure anytime.
I think it would be still be useful however even with inflation accounted for, $1500+ price would be a substantial increase:
“$1,000 in 2010 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $1,278.58 today”

Tricky spot… if you really need it I would say forget about it. The March event might say “available to preorder next week”, and then when hitting that preorder button it could say “delivery estimated in 2-3 weeks”.

For the delivery, if you have an Apple Store close by and don’t need any especially configuration you can hunt it down by checking online and store pickup options, they update stock listing couple of times a day… but me personally would risk that only if I don’t need it.

the ‘constant obsession with iPhones and iPad.’ What does that even mean? It’s Apples primary source of revenue in terms of hardware
Also to mention that thanks to the R&D poured on that for all these years and the revenue enabling it all is in big part the reason why today we have these nice new M1s family of device offerings for the Mac.

Expecting a new color for the iPhone 13. Perhaps, new Apple Watch bands? So far Apple has been killing it with the new Apple Watch bands.
Yeah, new 13 color is a good guess. Maybe they jumped the gun, though, with the pink. Maybe they could do purple, but the 12 is still being sold, so ?‍♂️
