I hope the new se will go back to the small 4” or a full screen. Keeping the iPhone 8 look is ridiculous. I would love a new 4 inch one again. I don’t need a tablet sized phone to carry around

Seems like a bit of a snooze event if the SE has no redesign, and it already has the worst battery life in a new iPhone you can get, I wonder if adding 5G wouldn't make it drain even faster?

I wonder if choosing 5G was the right direction over putting that back and doing the redesign first, but it's going the same way as 5G vs ProMotion. The cost to make a design that's been similar since the 6 and pretty well identical to the 6, and that 326PPI LCD that's been around for 7 years since the 6, must be so very low for Apple now, I guess this was still the cheaper route.

It would be funny, in a twisted way, if they turn what they deem their consumer models of iPads and maybe the iPhone SE into companion products for their iMacs and soon to be released Macbook Air. What if they put some white around the screens and the same colors the iMacs are on the back? What new thing could they do and not have it leak out beforehand?

No disrespect, but do you understand the point of the SE to begin with? It’s Apple’s ‘lower budget entry’ model meant to be more affordable, distinguished away from the more expensive/‘Pro’ iPhones in September.

So, by redesigning an iPhone, would just change the cost that would reflect to the consumer. By reusing the same chassis/components, saves money, which allows Apple to likely retain a similar price point to what we’ve seen before.

Where is Jon prosser?
Jon Prosser already showed off a photo of the 5G SE on his Genius Bar podcast.

The irony being that you can’t really leak the 5G SE and also have anyone believe you since it’s 1/1 the same design and same colors that Apple did for the SE 2020.

I actually think leakers in general don’t really care that much to cover the 5G SE since it’s probably the least interesting new iPhone to ever come out.

You can literally post photos of SE 2020 and say it’s a leak. Lol

SE 2016 was exciting because that was unexpected and the first SE ever. 2nd was also kinda exciting since nobody knew if Apple would keep doing more SEs.

But this 3rd SE is mostly just a repeat of SE 2020 with a few upgraded internals. Couldn’t be more boring.

It's an enterprise iPhone. My company buys these by the dozen for employees. A15 means it will run all the latest software and companies don't really care about all the other stuff like photos, FaceID, etc.

2014 called and wants it's iPhone 6 back.

Seriously, I think the idea of the iPhone SE is great. But all the other mid-range manufacturers have moved onto relatively bezeless smartphones. Isn't it time Apple did the same?
Apple gotta squeeze another year out of that 2014 design.

One more thing.... redesigned MacBook Air with M2 chip! March is the time for a 18 month refresh of the Air.
They don't do model refreshes so soon. The M2 SoC won't occur until after the Oct iPhone event associated with A16 at the earliest. Apple needs to release other Macs using M1 Pro and M1 Max beforehand.

I'd love to see a smaller iPhone that was maybe 30% the size of the Max, that you could take with you when you run, swim, bike or keep in your pocket. It would share the line of your larger "work" phone whereas shutting down the larger phone would make the smaller phone accessible and vice versa.

Sometimes I just want a small phone without all the bells and whistles

Will I be able to use the 4g as I do at now on the new SE as I don't have a 5g sim plan and am happy with 4g?

Exactly. The SE is for people who buy their clothes at Walmart, not fashion mavens who want a new design, just so other people look at them and say, “Wow, is that the new iPhone?”

Isn’t that what the Apple Watch is for? It can make and receive phone calls. I don‘t think you can get smaller and simpler than that.

If the Air is just an A15 and 5G, that would be hugely underwhelming after a year and a half. Almost nobody is going to notice the difference between A14 and A15, and what’s the percentage of people who even get cellular on iPads? Gotta be low, right?

I do assume it’ll also get center stage, at the very least.

Predictions on when the new iPad Air hits the stores? I just got my new Air and a have one week to return, but I need an iPad by March 11 as I’m leaving on a trip the next day.
Since the lastest iPad 9 and Mini 6 were presented September 14th and started to ship around 24th, I think a week after the event would be a safe bet

However the Air 4 is still a great machine still worth its price - and the pricier 11" XDR could be presented instead the Air 5 so...

You're right, people mainly buy the Air as a cheaper iPad Pro so as the design isn't changing many would still prefer Air 4 dropping it's price - unless Air 5 comes with more upgrades

I may trade my iPhone 13 pro for this but if it’s all screen with Touch ID under the display I would do it with a blink of an eye , I had the 12 mini how this compares to that in sized ?

Or for people who are business users or those not really into phones. My step mum has the current SE and she is very fashionable and not short of a few bob, but has zero interest in phones as long as it’s got iOS on it. A lot of sales reps I come into contact with also use the SE too because companies find them a cheaper way of giving their staff iPhones. This is outside of America too.

But you entirely missed his.
If you cannot acknowledge that just replacing aluminium by glass on the back doesn't change the design, you're the one missing my point entirely. The shape is the same, the 4 corners are the same, even the radius of the corners and sides are the same. There was even an article at the time, here on MacRumors, pointing at lacklustre sales because of lack of a newer design and innovation.

JFC, what is this comment of yours? Yet another rant in order to contradict someone else's post for the sake of contradicting?

The current design of the iPhone SE = design of iPhone 8 = design of iPhone 6. A mere change of back material doesn't account for an iPhone change of design.
