Usually they don't launch new products on Friday, but who knows... we're not living our usual lives these days.
I'd really love the name iPhone Classic, but I guess it will be SE. iPhone 9 wouldn't make sense, we have 11 and likely 12 by the end of the year, the phone would look too old.

It is going to be the perfect phone for people like my parents coming from a 6 or a 6s who really like having the home button instead of having to do the swipe gesture. I'll eventually buy this phone for them once I'll be able to find a good deal maybe in 2021.

With all that's been going on in the world lately, it would take some serious cojones to release a new phone, seeing as people are losing their jobs left, right and center....ending up in the hospital or worse. We are in the midst of the worst global catastrophe of our lifetimes, I think launching a new iPhone at this current time would be seen as poor taste.

Apple may be better served to hold off for a least a couple more months (July, perhaps?).

They did just release MacBooks and iPads though.

Assuming that this was originally going to be announced at the rumoured March 31st event, which almost certainly would have been for additional hardware as well, I’m hoping we might see more than this. Like for example the 13/14 inch MBP which is the only laptop using the old keyboard, and also the iMac, which is also massively neglected when compared to the new laptops as well. I can spec a laptop way higher than the iMac, which surely must be rectified. I can’t see them waiting till WWDC for either of these. Fingers crossed.

also, this is the first time I've heard it could have a 256GB model, and that has me so stoked. It's the only thing I was wishing (from these rumors) that it didn't have. Here's hoping prices are $399, $450 (for 128GB) and $500 for 256GB. With a trade in for my iPhone 6S+ i'll be stoked. And it eliminates my need for a second music only player :)
$550 for the 256GB.

I definitely heard that rumor too. Who knows what they're planning. I'm hearing everything now. Jon Prosser is saying either the 14th or 15th and this is saying possible tomorrow or next week?!?

A couple days ago that guy was also saying it’s called iPhone 9 so I think he picked up on a bogus rumor.

Wait. Any news on the 5.5 inch iPhone se 2020? Will it release tomorrow alongside the 4.7 inch? If so, will the 5.5 inch be $550 for 128 gbs? I hope it is under. *OFF SWAPA *Should I get an XR in mint condition for 128 gbs for under 500 (possibly 450 or 485 before taxes.) Or get this?

reading and typing this on my se with one hand right now

if i could get this size in the x/11 form factor i would buy it instantly

this “se 2” seems like the worst of both worlds. giant bezels and too big

already returned an xs cuz it was too big
If you don’t like the 6/6s/7/8 you won’t like the 2020 SE.

No mention of the Plus at all, I’m pretty surprised. The iOS14 leak mentioned it + Jon Prosser confirmed it’s existence as well as it dropping at the same time as the smaller model. Kinda disappointing
Kuo suggested it would be a year later in his note:

Seems a bit of a weird choice if it's going to be a 5.5" version of this. He does suggest it could have the XR/11 design instead, though.

So it's basically an expensive iPhone 6S without headphone jack? ...pass..
I think it’s more like an iPhone 8 with an A13.

It’s ok and I’ll probably buy one, but I really hope it will have 4 Gb of RAM as the others A13 SoC out there. I can’t see the point in a 3 Gb version...
The 8 it’s replacing is 2GB, the much more expensive XR is 3GB. I’d be surprised if it were 4GB, but not completely shocked.

I keep seeing posts from this guy... not sure if he can be trusted.

He says the Plus is coming later:

I think Kuo said next year.

Depends on Intel, right?

If this has a headphone jack I’m ordering it day 1. If it doesn’t my iPhone 6S is still working just fine.

I don’t see any poor taste in releasing a new phone. The economy still needs to function as much as possible. Business needs to be conducted. Plus some people in the world need a new phone right now, and I’m sure they would appreciate a good quality, low cost iPhone.

I hope they get the non-US pricing right for once. If this thing costs like 500 euros then it's not exactly budget option now is it

And absolutely agree about the headphone jack. I can't live without

By the way, I wonder if it’s worth it for an iPhone 8 user. I’m pretty happy with my iPhone 8 but maybe it will have shorter battery life when I update it to iOS 13. Aside from that, I’m happy with it.

But having more RAM and a 7nm processor is appealing
Hey @Romeo_Nightfall I’ve seen you’ve pushed the red button on my comment, quoted above. Can you specify what part do you disagree with? The part where I say I’m happy with my iPhone 8? Or the part where I say that having better internals would be appealing?

Anyone remember how fast the SE felt on launch year, because it was running the 6S chipset at a lower resolution, and in doing so felt even more fluid than the flagships?

A13 on 750P? Holy overkill batman! Though at that point, an interim resolution bump even to 900p or so would be appreciated, as the SoC is well overkill at that point and the GPU powers higher resolutions with still stellar bettery life.
Personally, I think 326 PPI is enough. Any higher for me would be diminished returns. I’d definitely rather have the extra battery life.

It's no different than the iPad (2017), iPad (2018), and iPad (2019).

The old iPhone SE is no longer available for sale and it's a 4 year old product. Most consumers shouldn't be confused.
Most consumers never even heard of the original SE in the first place lol.

We'll have to see the details, but unless you're missing something specific, the 8 is still fine. I'm on iOS 13.4 and have not noticed a significant reduction in battery life.

The one feature that would do it for me is eSIM/dual SIM, which would allow me to get rid of my work phone and more easily use local data plans when traveling internationally (although that is now less important given the current situation).
Yes, I think that you’re right, although I expect insane battery life from this new SE. However I think I should wait and see the new 5.4” iPhone and its pricing. Maybe it’s just not worth it to spend 400-450 on the SE if I can buy the smallest next generation iPhone for 650€...

Considering the 20% VAT it would have to be priced around €500, wouldn’t it? And it’s an 8 with an A13, I can’t imagine it would have a headphone jack but who knows?
