Has anyone tried reaching out to incase? I emailed them about a week ago, but never got a response. Not a good look

This padded case was 99 cents :D

I did for their new icon case in a rMB size. They said July for a rMB version. That's sucks and not what I would expect from them.

Hey everyone, if you're interested in a beautifully designed case/bag for your Macbook, check out my unboxing and impressions of the Waterfield Designs Travel Express. I know Waterfield is very popular here on Macrumors, and it is also one of my favorite companies. My video is below, enjoy!

Thanks for the video! I'm going to purchase on payday. How is the interior padding on the MacBook compartment? Would it protect the MacBook from other items placed in the other pockets? I'm hoping the interior padding is similar to my Bolt briefcase by the same company.

The padding is quite thick, you won't have to worry about any other items hurting your Macbook. The lining is also a micro-fiber material so you don't need to worry about scratching either! Thanks for checking out my video also!

Yup!

Those are the only two places I've purchased from in the last ten years or so.

I think I recall people posting that they had dust/grit/etc. getting trapped between the plastic and the aluminum, which resulted in a lot of small scratches.

Putting a shell like that on this machine is the worst thing you could do. Unlike the MBA and MBP this machine relies on the chassis to dissipate heat. That shell will do nothing more than act as an insulator artificially keeping the die temp up and throttling active.

Post your pics!! I'd love to see a video or some pics of the sleeve.

I'll post pics and a video. I don't have the rMB any longer, so I just have the case. I ordered the same case for the 11" air and the bolt bag. I'll make a video of both when they come.

It is by far the highest quality sleeve I have ever seen though.

I just want a nice, simple, cheap felt sleeve with a perfect fit.

Not super cheap, but nice/simple: https://www.etsy.com/shop/packandsmooch

I had a felt one on my 11" MBA for three years. Wore well. They don't do rMB ones explicitly (yet) but you can request custom orders.

I just got off of the phone with the owner of Byrd & Belle and she is going to make a custom sleeve for me that adds a few pockets for carrying the USB adapter and other things like a small notebook.
She mentioned that she will probably roll this out as an actual product for the 12" MacBook so I wanted to get some ideas from the community.
Any recommendations for pocket size and functionality you guys would like to see?
Here is their iPad carryall which I might steal a few designs from.

This is mine i received today and couldn't be happier. I needed something to put it in and carry with a little pocket on it for a few little cables. The case is made very well and it has a stiffness to it as well which i like very much. It fits prefect as well with no moving around. Here is the link as well.

Got the same one!

Mine came today, literally just opened it. I like it a lot, much sturdier/stiffer than I thought which is good. The MacBook doesn't wiggle around much at all, a very tight fit when the case is zipped up. And the pouch has enough room to hold either my charger and a few cables or my iPhone 6+ and Galaxy S6, which is exactly what I needed.

Overall very impressed with this case for the price I paid(less than $20). If I find a good enough leather one down the line maybe I'll switch to that but I'm very happy with this purchase.

I want to chime in here with a review of the Waterfield MacBook Suede Jacket Sleeve - 12" MacBook Retina - #37 / Vertical for $25.00

I ordered this with optimism because in the past I've had t he Suede Jacket for my Air and Pro and loved both.

I loved their previous sleeves for the perfect fit, and their unwavering commitment to producing an exact fit for the product.

BOY WAS I WRONG!

So I get my shipment, and I was really excited. I tore open the shipping bag, and was absolutely disgusted by what I saw.

They took the 11" air sleeve, and glued a strip of foam\rubber material in the end of the sleeve. At first, I thought it was just there for shipping, but then when I tried to pull it out, I realized exactly what they had done.

They literally took the 11" Air sleeve, and since it's a close fit, they figured they'd fill the space with a half inch strip of foam rubber padding at the opposite end you slide in the laptop, to give it the appearance that it was designed to fit the macbook. The problem is, it's blatantly obvious that whoever came up with the half-baked solution didn't actually have a macbook in their hands.

Not only is the strip of foam thicker than the entire macbook, it looks extremely boxy, and looks like something a child would do in order to jury-rig something to fit.

I posted pictures, except for the boxiness it's hard to tell what I'm talking about. I just can't believe Waterfield\SF Bags would put their name on such a half-baked solution. I get it everyone wants to get the early sales and say they have a product that fits, but this absolutely is a horrid fit. The edge where the foam is looks like garbage. The sleeve fits rather loosely as it clearly wasn't designed with a 12" Macbook in hand.

Further the frustration, as you can see, right out of the package, the case was covered in random dust\debris. You can see by the picture taken along the plane of the macbook what an awful, awful fit this sleeve is.

I'm appalled at Waterfield. I emailed them to see what they say, but what can they say? They'll probably take it back, but now I've lost all trust in them as a reputable case maker. How am I supposed to ever order a case from them again knowing they cut corners like this just to get money out of me?

I know it's a bit dramatic, but common, the sleeve was $30 for a tiny thin felt sleeve. I expect MUCH more.

My recommendation is avoid this sleeve like the plague. Back to my Crumpler 11" Air Fug neoprene sleeve. Perfect fit but for the half inch of fabric length extra... least it looks classy and doesn't have lumps or a big hunk of foam glued into the inside. Ughhhhhh.

That's really depressing to hear. The 12" retina outback sleeve is a totally new product. They didn't rehash the 11" air sleeve. Here is a picture.

Many of the sleeves for the 11 are naturally a little bigger, so they don't have to re-hash them. You really only notice the fit issues when it's a super form fit case like a sleeve. But yeah, real disappointed.

I was hoping the one I posted would fit the 11" air, but it is too small. It really is form fitting.

watch out if you're looking at the spigen incredible shield. its advertised as coming with a screen protector, but it doesn't include it.
