Alright guys, hoping you can help me pick something out. Just got my new Gold MacBook yesterday, and would like a case for it when it's not in use and for transportation.

Most important: want a snug fit! Not something build for the 11" air as they are slightly different dimensions. It seems there are a lot of 11" air sleeves out there being advertised as for the 12" MacBook

  • Would like to keep it around $50 or less
  • Don't want a bag/backpack, just a sleeve/envelop type case, though a pocket would be nice
  • Prefer slim over bulk, don't need drop protection only from scratches/smudges
  • Would prefer leather but open to felt too I guess, with some soft inside to prevent scratches
  • Don't want any zippers, preferably a magnetic flap on top
  • Ideally some way to charge while in the case/access to the port

Any ideas? I've been looking at the following ones, but would like to hear from anyone that has personally used them with their Macbook:

  • 1 This looks good, but want to know if anyone has used it. Is it snug? Pictures show the Air which is why I want a personal review/comment. Also doesn't have a flap and is pricey, but I could live with those.
  • 2 Says its also for the 11" air and now reviews saying if it fits good or not. Anyone tried it?
  • 3 Says its for the air but one review actually says their new Macbook 12" fits perfectly. Just curious if anyone here tried it.

Hey everyone, if you're interested in a beautifully designed case/bag for your Macbook, check out my unboxing and impressions of the Waterfield Designs Travel Express. I know Waterfield is very popular here on Macrumors, and it is also one of my favorite companies. My video is below, enjoy!

Are there any nice shoulder/messenger style bags for the new MacBook? I usually get Incase, but they don't have anything available yet.

The case I showed above can be purchased with a strap that converts it to a nice small shoulder bag, I show this in the video. But if you want something more substantial, Waterfield also offers their signature Muzetto in waxed canvas or leather for the new Macbook:

Would an iPad Air fit in there as well?

Thanks SO much for sharing this... I have never ordered a Waterfield product, but have always wanted one. I ordered mine last week, and it should arrive on Saturday. Can't wait to get to it when I arrive on Thursday! :)

Not neoprene, but SFBags makes a very nice, very thin ultrasuede sleeve in vertical and horizontal opening formats.

I just got thy one. It is understated and very classy. Just right to walk from in-house meeting to meeting. The little rubber bumper on the bottom of the inside of the bag cradles the hinge end. The small flat straps on the side of the top of the bag are useful for Helping to insert the laptop of the bag.

It is not going to protect against hard knocks as it is simply a fabric sleeve.

My co-workers noticed it right away. Again very classy.

Not sure if anyone has seen this bag yet. My rMB is on order so I have a little time to make a decision. But this bag looks slim enough...yet has enough space for power supply, adapters, and other items for when I travel. Will have to figure out what I am going to put in the iPad slot though...since I don't plan on carrying my iPad once I have my new rMB.

And they are available through Amazon.

I have the Waterfield (sfbags) Muzetto--black leather with green trim--case for the 11" MacBook Air. My new MacBook fits perfectly. Very happy since it was a relatively pricey bag.

I do like the Muzetto and glad it fits yours since there's not one for the rMB yet.

I was wondering if anyone has either the Outback solo or Outback sleeve. I'm trying to decide between these two and I think I like the sleeve better, but i wish it had a pocket like the solo

I see that several ppl are refering to Picasolabs. Im interested in their sleeves but this thread is giving me second thoughts:

Does anyone knows anything about delivery time? Emailed him a couple of days ago but no reply. Feels sketchy

If someone have something similiar to recommend i would appriciate it! Sleeve in leather/suede/felt with good fit.

Here is the WaterField Waxed canvas bag next to the CaseCrown Campus North Messenger Bag. I really like both but will probably be using the WaterField the most. I just love the look and the size. However, if you are a student or someone who needs lots of space to carry other things besides the MacBook, the CaseCrown is an excellent choice, all kinds of space and its significantly cheaper at only $27.

Is that the Waterfield Travel Express bag? The strap on yours looks different (better padding) then his video a few posts above.

EDIT: Never mind, you ordered the Suspension strap....love it!

Yep, it's the suspension strap, it's great. Really love the bag so far although I've yet to use it really.

love the water field bags! thinking about ordering the rough rider bag with a outback sleeve for my new 2015 13' rMBP. Anyone else have that combo please let me know what you think about either or both before i take the $400 impulse plunge

Got Waterfield/SF Bags sleeve with flap and nice strap, horizontal, black leather trim, with piggyback pouch, and it's great! And totally amazing customer service, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Ugh, this is so frustrating, still can't find a sleeve for this thing.

All I want is a leather(maybe felt...maybe) sleeve, with a pouch for papers/iphone, and a magnetic flap would be nice too. A port for charging would be nice too, or a vertical orientation so the port's accessible when its inside.

I honestly can't find something that meets that description. Closest I've found is this, but it a review shows pictures that its a rebranded 11" air case and that it's not s Snugg(pun intended) fit.

Am I honestly being too picky or am I missing a case that fits my needs?

Acme Made Skinny Sleeve for Macbook Air 11"

Bought it here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acme-Made-S...354?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4638ee983a

Dimensions

MacBook 28.05x19.65

Sleeve 29.95x19.20 inside

And purchased a Best Skins Ever matte

http://www.bestskinsever.com/macbook-12-inch

I don't use the Trackpad skin.

Same setup as my rMBP 15.

The Skinny sleeve stays in my laptop bag for extra protection.

I just got my Acme Made Skinny Sleeve for MacBook Air 11" in today from Amazon and it actually fits the rMB very well. ( the difference in the dimensions between the two is practically negligible)

I actually really like the look and functionality of that sleeve. Have you contacted Snugg to see if they would consider constructing a version of it for the 12"? I would consider that as well, and could contact them.
