The RAM is not the same.

13" Pro's have 1333Mhz RAM, this machine says 1600Mhz RAM. Big difference

As if the evidance wasn't already mounting high enough against this source, Tim Cook has been saying the entire year after the iPhone event things along the lines of, "People will be blown away this year. Just wait to see what we have in store" and I doubt this pathetic refresh is one of their alleged aces.

Token Ring?

As long as they keep ethernet, all the rest is just bonus. We use MacBook Pros at work and dropping ethernet means they are not an option for business anymore.

What if your business used token ring? Or dial-up? Rather than petitioning Apple for antiquated ports you should petition your IT department to banish antiquated policies. BTW, I realize that neither petition will actually works so here's a dongle =>

You're comparing a dead technology to a standard technology. Gigabit ethernet is used every where even hotels. Why get rid of a standard port and carry a dongle around? It's stupid. It's like getting rid of USB ports (here's a 50 dollar dongle plug it in the thunder bolt port). Why would you do that?

I'm sure glad you're not the designer no one would buy a mac but you :p

Downgrade me all you want. Ethernet isn't going anywhere.

Wheres the Sim Card

When will Apple include a bloody SIM card into their portables? Even by their name they are PORTABLE, meaning I am not always inside a wireless network, or near an ethernet cable.

They do it with the iPad, have both wireless and 3g, that allows you to be connected all the time, without having to stuff about switching, so why the hell can't we get it on our portable machines too?

Yes i know I can tether it to my iPhone, and I do, but not everyone has an iPhone, and from what I understand in a lot of countries you have to pay extra to tether the device, so why not let me just slide a 3G/4G SIM card into it, and just be connected every time I open the clamshell?

I know people that stuff about with all sorts of USB dongles, what a pain in the arse.

A laptop is portable, please give it consideration it deserves and let it be connected.

Get mobile hotspot for your phone or get a mifi. Probably not an answer you want but it is a solution to your problem.

I think this is fake only because it uses "Mac OS X" on the preinstalled line. Apple has been using just OS X for awhile now.

Totally agreed, should be seamless with iphone/ipad or intergrated.

NOW this is the kind of MacBook Pro refresh I was looking for! :D hope this is true and the one that this thread is on is just an educational model!

we got the same claimed image. we didn't post it cause we thought it was fake.

arn

With good reason, it definitely sounds too good to be true .... as much as I'd like it to be true

The one thing people aren't thinking about is that the retina display may be OPTIONAL. Just like the MacBook Pros currently have now, you can upgrade their screen to hi-res on a custom build (I did that exact thing with my MacBook).

From current Apple Store online:

The 15-inch MacBook Pro comes with a 1440-by-900-pixel LED-backlit glossy display. You can also choose a high-resolution 1680-by-1050 glossy or antiglare display that gives you 36 percent more pixels.

Maybe this is a picture of just the base unit with no extra options? Just an idea.

I just played with effects in Photoshop in hope of proving this was shopped. Unfortunately, it looks very real and some details like the fact that the label SKU (bottom right) and weight (2.06kg instead of 2.04kg) are slightly different make it look real :(.

I'd like to be proved this is an elaborate fake, but it's not looking good. Perhaps Apple would release only a redesigned 15" and keep the current 13" for a generation until the 13" MBA finally replaces it, kind of like the white MacBook that they kept alongside the Aluminium MacBook introduced in 2008.

Given adequate time, I could easily PS something of that real quality using only a pic of the specs from the current box. Don't believe this.

I REALLY hope that the next MBP won't have retina display. That is such a plus for me. I am so visually oriented that I couldn't live without the retina displays on my iDevices.

New Macbook Pro 15 inch:
2.3GHZ/2x2GB/500GB
2.6GHZ/2x4GB/750GB
Custom 2.7GHZ/2x4GB/1TB
Graphics card is NV, GT650M
This is what the autor of the post, posted on the chineese forum after the original post. He told that he misunderstood the original information.

Like I've Said. Benchmarks from Geekbench shown that 8GB was standard in new MBP's. Looks like were getting more data on that...
