Probably is real.

Apple really does not have to give the best and most up to date anymore. The reason-- people sadly will buy it anyway.

(just like they pay for overpriced RAM)

It says "Mac OS X" is preinstalled .... That should be just "OS X" since Apple dropped "Mac" with Lion.

Might have been mentioned in previous replies I didn't went through all of them.

Sadly this looks very real to me. I can tell from some of the pixels...

I agree...why would an Apple fan even bother to create a fake label?

Everyone knows that because of their inherent attractiveness, Apple fanboys ALL have blindingly beautiful sexy girlfriends who constantly want to make love...so an Apple fan wouldn't even have the time to do it. Isn't that right? Huh ?

This is quite underwhelming. Perhaps it'll be a Lowe priced Mac for the educational market? Doesn't really square with the 9to5Mac rumors. I mean this certainly isn't worth an announcement at WWDC.

I'm happy enough if this spec is real.

The 13 inch has always been at the low end... and keeping much of it the same keeps prices low.

For me, the introduction of USB3 is something I've been waiting for a long time - at last we have affordable high speed external storage on the Mac! Thunderbolt promised this - but it's been a disappointment (and it can't be retrofitted to old Mac Pros).

Once Apple has USB3 (and more importantly, drivers built into the OS) out there I expect to see Mac Pro USB3 cards follow in quick succession. The cards out there at the moment are a poor combination of high cost and unreliable home-brew drivers...

Really disappointing news!

It seems it's been way too long since Apple has shown some new products that just blow you away ! At least for the Mac (and iPhone)...

PLEASE, let this be next week! A 15" MBP, Retina, SSD, USB3, Dual HDD, 12-cores, 12-cores, 3,8 Ghz, Nuclear Battery, Built in cup-holder and espresso-maker ! IS THIS TOO MUCH TO ASK !!!

(Less would suffice, but let it at least be somewhat better than this leak!)

Who says this 13" model going to be called "Pro"? They are missing a "MacBook", people - that is very strange to have a MacBook Air and Pro and not a simple MacBook (especially since they had one before). It would make sense if they kept the 13" and made it simply MACBOOK forgoing the redesign and saving that for the Pro 15".

Also, another possibility- everyone is so intent on figuring out if the image is edited - has anyone stopped to think that the label itself is a fake and the photo is legitimate? Not sure if someone already posted this theory, but it's something to think about.

WTF is "Turbo Boost?"

I remember in the Pentium 1-2 days you could push a giant button on the front of your PC called "turbo" and change the clock speed from 100 to 133MHz.

Is Apple really using some old PC term from the 90's?

Steve would be pissed.

It has nothing to do with Apple or Steve, every CPU has a safe operating range and it's down clocked so it lasts longer an article @intel couple of years ago when they first introduced the iSeries came out with turboboost said that @ max speed the CPU is only running in about 70% of it's capability with turboboost it should reach max potential (I'm still not convinced) as manually overclocking pc's show that they go way above the "Max". As to Steve get it over with it is a big deal but, he's done what ever was needed now it's up to them. As to the specs they seem real, and in the rumors I don't remember reading anything about 13" retina screens. The 13-inch is the base model to replace the Macbook as the 11 air inch is underpowered to do so. I am so hoping on huge changes in the 15 inch.. it is time to upgrade.

I'm a lonely, single Graphic Designer and even I didn't have the time to do it purely because it's pointless, like I said before, I could design you one of these with your dream spec on it and we could all print it out and stick it on things and take photos of it to show eachother.

50% of us will say we're disappointed, the other 50% will say 'I Told You So' and we'll still be checking back in an hours time just incase!

And for everyone who KEEPS asking about the Mac OS X and OS X difference in the listing, it's been mentioned in this thread about 10 times already, please read previous posts? x

I really hope that this isn't real...I wanted retina! The 1280x800 is kinda crappy, and It would be nice for a bump. Maybe they are going to have this as the 13 pro, and give the Air the bells and whistles? (the 9 to 5 Mac report failed to mention the 13 inch pro, only air...)

It wouldn't be the first time that Apple updated some of the laptop models while leaving the others alone.

They did this when they moved from Power PC to Intel. I believe the first macbook pro was a 15 inch model, and they left the iBook and 17 inch powerbook alone -- initially.

It's make sense, since a retina display is expensive and may not appear on a lower end 13 inch macbook pro. Apple may therefore introduce the retina display *and* a redesign on the popular 15 inch and cut the price of the 13 inch to make it even more attractive to those who don't care about retina/redesign so much but want a cheap Apple laptop.

I think the 17 inch macbook pro might be discontinued even though I'll be sad to see it go.

4GB of ram, really...
Ya, because 8 GB of ram is about a $30 upgrade.

Hopefully this is meant as a cheap barebones entry model going for a new price point of around $799.

This is pretty underwhelming if true, hopefully there is some real upgrades coming to the 15" & 17" models.

Seems perfectly fine to me. I know you all have short attention spans and memory but if you cast your mind back to one week prior the Sandy Bridge MBP update a similar picture was released.

The thing is, everyone hypes the self up expecting a redesigns nd all this and that. Apple are happy updating the internals, reducing cost and increasing margins and profits.

His could easily be for the base model, with a higher res "retina" option as BTO.

Can't wait, either way.

I hope this is fake, or at least give the 15" that retina display. This will be my first MBP, and I'm hoping it'll recieve a big upgrade over last year model. Been waiting a long time :(

I'd be embarrassed to present that at the WWDC.

Well it's a good thing you're not going then. It is the World Wide DEVELOPERS Conference, not the World Wide Hardware Conference, so you shouldn't be expecting anything too exciting outside of the software announcements and developer programs. Your current disappointment and possible future embarrassment during a hypothetical WWDC visit is based on rumors from places like 9to5mac that are wrong at the majority of the time. This is MacRumors, after all, not MacFacts. People shouldn't get too emotionally invested in anything they see here.

Found it!

http://bbs.weiphone.com/read-htm-tid-4835436.html

If you're using Chrome, it'll translate the simplified Chinese to English (although there are peculiarities - like Apple's "thunder and lightning" connector - machine translation isn't perfect :) )

The funny thing is, they claim that it was a friend in the US, working at Apple that snapped the photo.

Look at the pic I've attached from that site you posted, they list Intel 300 graphics, and USB 2.0...

You know Apple are always trying to upsell things to you. 13" consumers will either be forced to eat another pointless upgrade, wait another year or get the 15" (hopefully retina display). Rumors of the 17" disappearing and now this, all signs point to 15" retina.

I'm gonna laugh so hard if this is all the update is. All these lofty rumors for months...
