I joked Asus some time ago about them trying to copycat Apple and trying to be innovative. But seeing what products they want to bring, they're actually doing it right.

Had saved up money for my first Mac, but if this comes to fruition I am decidely rethinking my purchase.

These specs could be true and that the leaker didn't have access to a retina display model because it's a built-to-order add-on like the 1680x1050 resolutions on 15" MBPs for an extra $100-150.

Can someone, who is more familiar with the hardware available to Apple for the next refresh of the MBP 13", comment on the chance that the entry model will have a quad core and/or dedicated graphics? I desire both of these in the small footprint so badly!

I two hope that the 13" will have quad core and discrete graphics!

There is an Ivy Bridge quad core chip that has the correct TDP to be shoehorned into a 13" case.

I just hope that apple will do this along the dedicated graphics!

Frankly I would be happy with a similar 2.8Ghz Ivy Bridge dual core chip with hyper threading along with dedicated graphics!

Still running windows = not innovative.

This isn't a knock on windows, but I can get a Lenovo, a Dell, an HP, or build my own machine that runs windows. A strictly hardware company can only be so "innovative"

hope it's fake, because otherwise it only confirms my suspicion, that apple has once again lots its way without jobs, and they're starting to spread themselves thin when it comes to their computers and osx.

The Mac App Store reads "OS X Lion", so they renamed that as well...

What I said earlier:

In the 10.7.4 update, Apple updated the Mac OS X logo in the 'About this Mac' window to the same font as in 10.8. It's still 'Mac OS X' and not 'OS X' found in 10.8.

Plus, MacBook Pro boxes that came with Lion preinstalled still have 'Mac OS X' on the label.

The App Store, however, has always shown 'OS X' since the launch of Lion.

But you can't add in the creases and grain. I mean that crease alone, means an epic fake, or it's real... :/

I think the best way to fake this one is to bring it into the real world: Scan an existing label, modify it in PS with the correct font, etc., then print it out and stick it to something and take a cellphone pic of it. If you don't do a horrible job on the label the qualities of the cellphone camera will wash out minor imperfections. Get the kerning, alignment right and it'll practically sell itself.

The fact it's a sticker is the biggest strike against it. It has been a while since I bought a new mac though. Are the specs now labels or are they printed on the box? Maybe they're updating pre-existing MBP 13 boxes to the new spec, hence the label?

That said, I think this label is disappointingly real. It's nice to see USB 3 though. I think that it's a change Jobs would not have approved of (but he was wrong) - let Thunderbolt stand or fall on its' own qualities rather than a false competition with USB2.

Apple must be getting 1280x800 panels for 5 cents each or something. Why would they keep using them? This isn't 2004!

So what, the retina model would still have the same screen real state 2560x1800 pixels = 1280x800 points. The Air is consumer oriented and has more real state than the 13 Pro? This is madness

100% Fake

It's a Fake.

Apple stopped calling the OS "Mac OS X". Its "OS X", so the label of the MacBookPro won't be one from a new product.

SuperDrive and Ethernet? I really hope this isn't real. After setting my mind on the 13" Air, I saw a few thin MBP mock-ups and fell in love with all of them. It would be disappointing to see no major change whatsoever.

Better to just deal with reality than try to chase some fantasy.

So much for "Quad Core" "SSD standard" "Retina Display" and "Losing the Optical Drive".

I'll laugh so hard if this turns out to be real.

It better be priced at $799 max.

I'm sure someone else probably posted this before me ... but couldn't this be the new Macbook? Basically, axe-ing the MBP 13" and rebranding it as the entry level Macbook.

That would explain why there haven't been any rumors for the MBP 13" and all of the rumors have revolved around the MBP 15" and the Macbook airs.

This seems plausible, at least to me.

I just played with effects in Photoshop in hope of proving this was shopped. Unfortunately, it looks very real and some details like the fact that the label SKU (bottom right) and weight (2.06kg instead of 2.04kg) are slightly different make it look real :(.

I'd like to be proved this is an elaborate fake, but it's not looking good. Perhaps Apple would release only a redesigned 15" and keep the current 13" for a generation until the 13" MBA finally replaces it, kind of like the white MacBook that they kept alongside the Aluminium MacBook introduced in 2008.

Excuse me, but wouldn't it be trivial for someone to create that in Word, print it then photograph it?
