Well with a 2 hour timeslot, it sounds like the changes could be pretty radical, or (probably gonna get shot down for this thought), are they gonna split the time to 1 hour on the Macs, and another on their Alexa equivalent speaker thing..

An hour of "updates"

5 of your last 20 posts are of the tired "watch straps lol" variety and in a thread where the Intel delays have been shown again and again you still seem to have missed it.
I know...Its an old joke now promise no more mention. On a serious note for an average consumer even a 2012 mac is adequate however power users its a different story.

Going ARM processors would make no sense at all, that won't happen...

I hope it won't as it has taken ages for the most important application of all 'The Sims 2' to be recompiled after the move from PowerPC to Intel :D , there was that horrible period when OS X had no rosetta engine to play PowerPC stuff, but still many things i wanted to use were not made for Intel. I don't want to go through that again with ARM. I still wish rosetta could be installed now.

We talk about Apple one day going down the ARM route and it wasn't that long ago Mac's were RISC based processors.
I think its safe to assume the Mac is leading another double life in the labs. The biggest issue is software compatibility so maybe another Rosetta emulation will happen!

So basically, you don't want to understand other peoples' needs and requirements but you're asking them to understand yours ?

FWIW, I also own a 2014 MacMini refurb and am generally happy with it, albeit, I've regretted selling my quad-i7 2012 MacMini.

The reason for the teeth gnashing is multifold, but do you not get the general trend that Apple has pivoted away from focusing on computers and focusing only on the iPhone ? As a result, many of us that have been Apple loyalists since long before you joined in 2011, are justifiable pissed at the direction their computer division has taken in recent years.

You can be pissed, but mobile at the center of the industry is the new reality, like it or not. The truth is, even though most of the Mac line hasn't been properly updated in too long, there is very little that would have changed had they updated it earlier. You would have gotten moderately faster internals and moderately better battery life. I think Apple saw this and decided that rather than bothering with a proper redesign at a stage when they'd have comparatively little to offer, they'd wait it out until enough things had come in line to make a refresh of this fully mature product platform actually feel like something worth waiting for. Hopefully we won't be disappointed.

The first hour will be devoted to the new rMBP booting up on it’s 5400 rpm hdd, with the second hour as overflow in case it hasn’t finished booting up by then. We’ll probably get the full two hours out of this event, if not more.

Think you're on the money with this thinking (hope hope).

Still feel Cooky dropped the ball on the ball on the Mac Pro line up. The form factor is current thinking but internals are dated. Maybe Thursday will see an update here as well.

Maybe price drops in iCloud storage tiers, that will take 15 mins.

Don't forget the VGA camera which'll return for at least two years. Remember it's getting thinner again, it's not like Apple has any practice with fitting high quality cameras into small devices. You can't have it all.

they lost me at 'keyboard will have same butterfly design as on the macbook.'

SHAME!

Same here. I couldn't care less about the rest of the specs as long as the keyboard is totally useless piece of garbage.

Get over it.

Typing is so much better on the new keyboards.

SHAME!

Only for those who love to use iPad on-screen keyboard. Zero feel, fingers hurting after any extended use. No sane person wants to use that for any real work. It suffices for light facebooking but that's pretty much it.

And at the centre of this delay is Intel. Apple can either continue with Intel which is becoming unpredictable or transition to ARM.

We didn't get any rumours on the RAM yet, right? Here's hoping they'll offer the ability to upgrade to 32GB. My current 16GB is not always sufficient when running multiple VM's.

Don't get fooled by the 'Pro' in the name. They aren't supposed to be used for stuff like that anymore.

You should realize will not be a 5K Thunderbolt Display ANYTIME SOON, not this Year, not Next Year, the next standalone 5K Display Will Be USB-C <=> DisplayPort 1.3/1.4, read carefuly that Ming-Chi Kuo didn't name it as Thunderbolt Display, and just as 'Cinema Display'.

Agree, hopefully it will have more trave as the one on Magic KBD (the butterfly design it's perfect on the new Magic Keyboard coz has normal 1mm travel), and Macbook Pros use to share switch with Magic KBD.

Tried the magic keyboard. Sent it back after a few days because I was inventing whatever excuses I could not to use my computer.

unless it's a new design, do they really need to have an event for this? I'd love to see a 4K HDR capable ATV but that probably won't happen for 5 yrs. SMH.

I see an updated iPad Pro being announced briefly here too.

Not likely. They generally have their iPad events in the Spring - March/April.

If the MBPs get the rMB keyboard I'll use my 2010 till it dies, probably. But this aspect of the rumor doesn't make any sense. if Apple believed that it was so great, they would have rolled it out across all its products, instead of creating a separate Magic keyboard with more travel for the MBP and desktops.

And even that was a big step down from the current one. Not nearly enough key travel to make it feel like a keyboard. Too close to a touchscreen for me.
