My guess is as good as anyone else’s.

What I think we’ll get:
- Redesigned chassis with distinctly thinner bezels on both 14 and 16in. models. It will supposedly look more iPad Pro like, but the current design doesn’t look much different than that already.
- New Magsafe design of some kind alongside USB-C being retained along with reinstating HDMI and SD card slot. I doubt we’ll see ethernet-within-the-brick like they did for the iMac 24, but who knows.
- Both 14 and 16in. models will supposedly have same capabilities, but I suspect there will also be a lower tier 14in. priced similarly to the current lower tier 13in. The “entry” Pro will have the M1X, but maybe with 8GB RAM rather than 16…maybe. The other possibility is both 14 and 16 starting with 16 RAM and 512 SSD and you can option upward with pricing structure similar to as it is currently.
- I suspect there will be different colour options than presently offered. It will Silver or Space Grey (not both) along with something else. I seriously doubt black or White. Oh, and white bezels are not out of the realm of possibility.
- Definite upgrade to webcam and audio.

While the new Pros will be of great interest within a certain segment of the buying public I believe the new MacBook Air next year will garner even more attention given it’s the gateway to the MacBook line and the most accessible price wise.

Do you really expect that MBP with a M1X chip will draw +100W?
I have no idea, just mentioning a potential limitation with USB vs MagSafe.

But we do know Apple can design an M1 system that does. The majority of the iMac's power usage will be the big screen which won't be as much of an issue with the MBP. But can you imagine what kind of performance they can get with an M1X that doesn't have power limitations?

The touch bar idea isn't completely horrible. What if they changed the function row to individual buttons that change contextually? Or some kind of hybrid? (smaller touch bar along with traditional F-keys)

When you're wrong next week, will you own it?

When I’m right will you accept it?

Or will you excuse Apple like we’ve just seen with the mini 6?

“Oh Apple can’t possibly be expected to deliver an LCD display on a $800 device in 2021 that doesn’t make people sick with jelly scrolling, after all no LCD is perfect”

Seeing how half of the YouTuber saying 256GB should be more than enough for “majority of people”, I’d not be surprised if apple even bother to release 8GB 256GB for 14” MacBook Pro.

I expect the "standard" 14" to remain 16GB/512GB like the Intel model.

That being said, we might see a less-expensive 8/256 model to replace the M1 13.3" 2-port MacBook Pro, but I honestly expect that model to just disappear when the "M2" MacBook Air is released in 2022 (or stick around as a low-end model for price-conscious people).

Wondering how insane the discrete GPU is going to be. Probably on the order of M1..

It won't be discrete, but it will have 16/32 cores so it should be a screamer.

Okay…? So you will never buy anything with this logic. Yes, it’s the same design since many years. The ports? Yes, the same that were in the sub-2016 MacBook era. The chip? A more powerful version of a chip that is as we speak in many MacBooks without issues.

If you don’t want to buy it it’s your choice, but it’s not a fist Gen anything
You're right, it's not a fist gen. Hopefully not, anyway.

It neat to consider all the possible improvements both power efficient and processing advances in a redesigned MBP. Can’t wait for all the details and following discussions from the announcements. Plan on spending time with examples in the store.

The only way this could be better is if it was possible to run Windows natively. After 8 years of macOS, I really want to go back to Windows. Mainly due to small interface conveniences (e.g., minimising an app by clicking on its dock icon), but also because of some common-sense features that Apple just refuses to adopt, such as passthrough lossless audio.

My current MacBook Pro needs a replacement so badly that I can’t wait for this release. The updates since I bought mine were so underwhelming that I could not justify it. Hope this one really makes sense.

I'm excited about all of the rumored improvements, just wish they were keeping the Touch Bar. I know it wasn't the big success Apple was hoping for, but it seemed like it was marginally better than standard function keys. I wonder how much keeping the Touch Bar would have added to the price?

Any word on better display support? OK, I can get my M1 to work with two monitors (using DisplayLink), but the lack of support for monitors is shockingly bad.

I hope Apple addresses this.
