Just in case people don't know about Thunderbolt 3's capabilities...you can use an EXTERNAL GPU with the device. So if you get a 13 inch MBP, don't be afraid. If you need the graphics power, you can get it after paying another large amount of cash for an external TB3 gpu.

It's the best feature about Thunderbolt 3 in my opinion. Only reason I've stopped considering the 15" altogether.

So did the 2015 MacBook Pro price lower? Waited out on getting it, but the new price makes things clear.

was it that bad?! what did u expect? the rumors where spot on...

hm. should i get a 13" or a 15"...a bumped 13" with 16GB and maxed cpu, 512 GB SSD is almost the same price as a 15" with the same spec with slower i7 :-/ i think i will go for the 15".

The prices in the uk are just extreme. I think Apple are going for the high end less volume for all their products. They are seriously retreating to the high end.

The "air replacement" starts at over £1400! But a 13 inch air is like £900?? That's crazy.

The iPad HAS to become the computing platform for the masses because most people can't afford this stuff anymore. I think Apple need to be careful because if young people can't afford your platform how do you gain the loyalty going forward?

Not if you have Education Discount *insert  emoji*

What are you doing on a Mac centric website? Go hate somewhere else, loser.
I've been with macs since the first iMac with an intel processor. I've loved Apple and own Apple product. I'm stating as an Apple fan, I'm dissapointed. Name calling behind your keyboard is pretty petty.

I don't know...

The Touch Bar looks actually more useful and powerful than expected. Ok that's cool.
Prices are as crazy as before.

But more importantly : NO NEW MAC PRO. NO Mac Mini update. We're not tasking for new designs, just updated procs , graphics and ports. Wow...

If by summer of next year , they don't deliver serious upgrades along the whole line, that could officialy mean Apple is abandoning the Mac and becoming only a iDevice manufacturer.

I never thought I would actually see MS steal the show in my life..
They abandoned already. There is no reason they could not upgrade the guts of Mini and MP today.

If macOS supports it.

I was thinking about moving over to an iPad Pro this upgrade cycle... guess that seems like the best choice once it gets more of the pro apps that are currently only on Mac.

$2399 isn't completely outrageous for a new 15" MacBook Pro. The 15" Retina model started at $2199 when it was released four years ago. Although the value of all Macs is lessened compared to the iPad.

Apple says they're committed to the Mac but at this point it seems by effectively getting rid of the MacBook Air and not upgrading the rest of the Mac lineup they're very distinctly stating the Mac is only for mobile professionals, go buy an iPad everyone else.

Apple should have a holiday gift dongle pack. It will be like the rainbow colored Apple Socks but instead the 10 dongles you must have all in white.
No hdmi, no usb, no sd card reader, no thunderbolt 2, no magsafe, ... apple is really losing the plot now

Who lot of crying about Pro models from people that aren't pro users in here. If you don't spend 4+ hours a day in pro apps, you aren't considered a pro user.

But the "pro" is the only decent offering for many people. The screen on the air and the lack of ports on the MacBook are disqualifying to me, and I'm not a pro user.

If they offered a reasonable consumer alternative then I'd say sure, leave the "pro" machines to real pros. But that's not the case.

$3499 for a 15" rMBP with 16GB of RAM (no 32GB upgrade option) in what is nearly 2017. Seriously?

$2499 for a 13" rMBP with the same amount of RAM (16GB), SSD capacity (512GB), and a slower processor than my mid-2012 rMBP 15". Seriously?

I would be less upset if they at least offered a 32GB RAM upgrade option for the high-end 15" model. That's inexcusable for a machine that should last at least four more years. That's how much RAM is in my mid-2012 model. Really. How is this supposed to keep up with the professional work I do through the year 2021? There is really no good reason to upgrade your Mac any more, aside from the Touch Bar, which I admit is pretty sweet and not gimmicky like I thought it might be.

I'm going to hold out for the next iMac upgrade. I'm hoping the keyboard comes with Touch Bar, and hopefully the memory on the 27" model will at least be upgradable. Even if not, at least the iMac is configurable to 32GB of RAM.

Somehow the touchbar justifies a $300 increase from the previous $2500 model ? I don't see myself getting anther macbook after this one dies(hopefully a long way away anyway). Dongles for each and every input is ridiculous. Somehow a headphone jack is still there.

Wow. Such disappointment.

I guess I'll stick with my Late 2013 13" MacBook Pro until it dies.

Maybe I'll just sell it. I just use it to watch Netflix anyway.

Cards on the table - I earn just over £250k per year, have no kids and a relatively small mortgage. I also want a new MacBook Pro.

But those prices are madness. Although I can afford it, I just can't justify £1,750 on something I use to send a few emails and browse the web.

Guess I'll wait for the updated MacBook (which I really hoped they're announce today. That was a lot of fluff for some MacBook Pros).

And it has a headphone jack. What are Apple doing?! Incredible fragmentation across their product range now.

You didn't watch the presentation. They showed the performance difference between the 2016 and 2015 MBPs…and it's not minor. It's going to blow your 2012 MBP out of the water.
Yeah, just like the 2012 performance blew the 2008 model out of the water. You know what didn't change between the 2008 and 2012 model? The Base price.

Love the new Touch Bar with Touch ID however their pricing structure at base level really needs to be adjusted.

The cheapest MacBook is now £1249
The 13-inch MacBook Pro (no Touch Bar) is now £1449.00
The cheapest 13-inch MacBook Pro is now £1749.00
The cheapest 15-inch MacBook Pro is now £2349.00

I waited a while for this and this is very disappointing.
Tim Cook is the worst CEO! Horrible!!!!!!
Looks like back to Windows & Microsoft for me.
