Well, it looks nice but I'm sitting with 660Gb used out of 1Tb on my current 2014 MBP and see no way to shrink that down much for what I need and how I use my laptop so unless they offer 1Tb or greater SSD's not going to touch it. Really surprising as 1Tb SSD's have been around for quite some time. Here's to hoping my current MBP hangs on for quite a while. Not a fan of AMD graphics either IMHO. I do 3D work and everything accelerates on Cuda cores and not so much on anything AMD.

All I was hoping for was 15" starting with 512GB SSD, some Thunderbolt 3 ports for future proofing and no price increase... oh well.

I was expecting exactly that too.
Guess I'll keep running this mid 2010 and have a go at building a hackintosh

My 2012 MBP is perfect as is, considering the prices. There is NO entry-level priced machine. And the prices for ALL the Macs are outlandish. Next time I buy, it will be a used one, no question. Or I'll buy a Windows machine and Hackintosh it. I was pleased (but not excited) until they showed the pricing structure.

Cook is NUTS. Not that prices CAN go high- that's okay. But that there is no sub-1,000 entry machine? Idiotic.

Who lot of crying about Pro models from people that aren't pro users in here. If you don't spend 4+ hours a day in pro apps, you aren't considered a pro user.

Real pros don't cry about the price because these machines help them get their job done faster and better. If these new machines shave a couple hours after their work in a month, they've paid for themselves even if they cost 2x as much.

Why would this machine shave a couple of hours off your work?

The uk prices are absolutely ridiculous. Can't see many people paying these prices.

I was 100% ready to buy a MBP and its not just a want but a need. I have to replace by breaking down 8 year old Macbook. I was looking forward to getting a modern computer. Not only am I not as impressed as I thought i'd be with the Touch Bar but the UK prices are so unbelievably ridiculously high that I've put my credit card back in my wallet. eBay here I come for a different pre-loved Mac.

Man, I know the rolling meme is to harp on Apple re prices but my god. I was fully expecting to upgrade my 2011 macbook pro to the new 15" but at that price I'll just stick with old faithful for another year.

You will have to wait 2 or maybe 3 years. Apple doesn't refresh their hardware much. In 3 years, you will pay for 2016 technology in 2019.

Duo-Core??? Intel Iris 540???

Seriously, that's awful value. Thinner isn't better. The processor is outdated, the graphics car is a joke. I honestly don't know what they are thinking.

Exactly, but the problem is that I have to now have to buy dongles, no way to upgrade memory even from Apple, probably can't open the case using screws to replace the SSD when it fails, etc. I would gladly pay more for these options, but what we are learning is that Apple doesn't want to have customers from all walks of life, they just want the handicapped and teens who may not be able to understand the outrageous prices for the supplied functionality. What makes Apple different today is the price and the gimmicks, there was a time when it was more than that.

The Apple Store has just come online following today's event, and the three new MacBook Pro models announced this morning are now available for purchase....

The only 15" MBP memory configuration is 16GB?! My 2011 machine has that much. The Touch Bar is nice. I look forward to the day when the entire keyboard is a force-touch enabled panel and there are no more mechanical keys, provided they can make that actually work well.

But there appears to be zero expandability and in many ways modest specs in the areas that truly bound me. I wish for an expandable 17" machine. Looks like Apple's never ever going to do that again.

LOL at all the people trying to act like the touch bar isn't anything special. Looks like a huge functionality improvement for using a notebook, and they specifically showed how versatile it is for high-level pro software. Nothing like it exists in the notebook marketplace currently.
It's a gimmick feature, to avoid the cost of a touch screen.
They want you to buy iPad Pros AND MBPs, but not offer the touch screen functionality.

What was wrong with on screen Menu items ? They could've offered the same T-bar at the bottom of the existing Retina screen, if it was touch capable.

Pro is just a Marketing term used by Apple to signify "more expensive". Clearly all types of consumers are considering these laptops and have valid points regarding the specs Apple has chosen.

I'll be as candid as I can be. That is one beautiful laptop. Arguably, the new MBP's are the most beautiful laptops on the market. That HUGE new trackpad looks delicious, and the Touch Bar looks awesome and looks like something I'd actually use all the time.

But is it all enough for me to purchase the new MBP? Is it enough for me to purchase it in the wake of some of the competition? No.

guys i have a serious question, i want to get the new macbook, because i need it for work and school, and i want the 13'' one thats all i need, my question would be, is the oled bar all that? i don't think is worth the price tag, but since im getting a new macbook anyway, should i pay for the one with the oled or just make the regular one even better by upgrading the ram and so on ? thanks for the help in advance
think you should wait for user reviews on the touch bar before deciding

It would be great that Apple gives with these new machines iCloud support free. The build in SSD's are not suitable for these great source files. No new MBP for me. Apple can do better....

I laughed out loud when I read this. Just wonderful Apple. You added a stupid touch bar and jacked up the price so much that even Apple diehards are saying no. I've been watching you push out overpriced hardware for years and this is the first time I've seen the diehard Apple fans actually disappointed.

When a post about new Microsoft products has more positive feedback than the Apple product launch on a Mac-centric forum, you know you've messed up.
