The one thing I've liked about Apple in the past is that everything went together. I could plug in my phone and use the headset that came with my phone on my mbp. I also use a Wacom tablet. I'm just not sure I want to carry around adapters for everything. It doesn't feel cohesive right now. Add in the price jump and I think I'll wait and see instead of ordering right now.

UK pricing is insane. I know it's partly down to the Brexit vote, but couple it with the price hikes anyway... and wow.. you end up with some sheer madness.

I guess this brings my time buying Apple computers to a close. They simply just aren't worth the money any more. Time to vote with my feet / wallet.

You guys are missing the point. It's $400 more for

1) MUCH Better display
2) MUCH better speakers
3) MUCH thinner / lighter
4) Classier keyboard
5) Touchbar
6) Etc.

It's better in every way (by a lot). I think we were being ridiculous thinking it'd be the same price or only a little more.

The only thing I'm annoyed about is the 256gb base for the 15". I mean REALLY APPLE, REALLY.

On the same logic technology should get more expensive because it's better each year? It's actually the other way, the more time is passing the less expensive technology gets and new technology is priced at the old one.

In a year, people knocking the touchbar will hide and become silent. The touchbar constitutes a great advancement for usability. Too bad some people just can't see it.

They're the same people that complained that the iPhone didn't have a physical keyboard.

They're the same people that complained the iMac didn't have a floppy drive.

They're the same people that complained the Mac mini didn't have a DVD drive.

The sad part about this Apple will probably sell a bunch of them, and then pat themselves on the back using it as evidence they were right with all their changes. They will look at all these complaints as nothing more than the whining of some highly vocal minority.

The reason they will sell a bunch is because there is so much pent up demand for newer hardware. Aren't you all happy Steve Jobs ended the clone program, now? Apple made you all an interesting-sandwich this time, and you can either eat it or starve.

Did they seriously get rid of MagSafe?!? Why would I want a MBP that regressed to an older, worse electrical connection?!? Apple's board needs a rehash, cuz Tim is making things worse and worse... and Jony's done, he has officially run out of ideas.

Clearly you don't understand the difference between a product and a commodity.

Seriously? They just launched a new feature, but only in SOME of their new Macbooks? So all those who can´t afford anything more but the cheapest one, are left out of the party.

This is Apple causing segregation in their customers base. Which they never did before. Infact, that was one of the things Steve Jobs maintained, to just have one product and not a million different configurations.

if u guys didn't get the memo... clearly they are selling the concept of the macbook pro replacing full on workstations. The future is mobility for apple, which I kind of agree. With today's computing power and actual computing needs, one do really wonder the advantage of a big tower vs a mobile machine.

Where i'm extremely disappointed is the lack of cross ecosystem integration of any of their latest features. If you haven't realized, the new macbook will not be able to charge your iphones, will not work with the earpods they shipped with new iphones, and the new touch bar becomes useless as soon as I plug the machine into a monitor, which i will most likely be using a seperate keyboard and touchpad, that will not have any touch bar integrations what so ever. At least add it to your own god damn keyboards

I do not know who can use a 256GB laptop. I do not have lots of photos, but everytime I back up my iPad and iPhone, my laptop is always full. With 512 or 1TB the price will be so expensive :(
Why don't you back up to iCloud?

no, only you wonder it, the rest of us know the difference for when unlike you, we actually use our desktops for pro applications, like CAD.

Was so ready to finally replace my Early 2011 MBP (I haven't even gone to RMBP yet) Today, maxed out, so excited with CC in hand ready to go and have to say after watching that keynote I am just not that excited with what they offered us today. I sure think I should be as I'm still on Sandy Bridge, but did update to 16gb 1333mhz and to 512SSD a couple years back. No 32gb of memory? Guess I'm gonna keep the 2011 going for the unforeseeable future. May have slowed down some, but I'm not shelling out $3500 for that (Wanted it loaded). Interested to check one out in person however.

Wow they've really screwed us with the UK pricing. £2349 for the base 15" model. Add the internal upgrades and it tops out at £4049. Even with the fancy new touch bar they are not going to sell many at that price.

I have a question. Was the MacBook Air ever available with 16gb ram? I don't see that option.

I don't believe so. When I picked up my Air back in 2013, the most I could have was 8GB - as I tried to max everything when I bought it and was annoyed I couldn't have more RAM. As it is, 8GB has done me just fine.

They're the same people that complained that the iPhone didn't have a physical keyboard.

They're the same people that complained the iMac didn't have a floppy drive.

They're the same people that complained the Mac mini didn't have a DVD drive.

Tell me about it.

It's just mind-blogging that people think a row of Fn offers more usability value than a touch bar that can display information, offer soft-button of various sizes and let you perform gestures. You can still rely on muscle memory to touch those soft-buttons once you are used to how a given app displays the buttons. It sure beats a row of Fn keys that are barely used by the great majority of users; not to mention you would have to memorize what a given Fn key does. Why can't some people see this? Is it their fear of change?

Why didn't Apple go full touchscreen? Why this clumsy half-measure?

I'm sorry if this has been asked already but is the $300 difference for the 0.9GHz i5 and faster RAM (+ the touch bar) really worth it? I don't care about the bar, but the processor and RAM matter.

You are dismissing people's legitimate complaints that Apple is marketing this as the "Professional Solution" with no updates to the Mac Pro let alone the iMac. Some people have been waiting over a full year for a real update to the entire Mac line and have only been offered up prosumer friendly devices. I seem to remember someone saying well over 3 years ago "Can't innovate anymore my ass" to a product that hasn't been updated since.
Did you honestly expect updates to their desktop line? When was the last time Apple managed to surprise us with a significant update without leaks and rumors getting out? I mean seriously, we knew exactly what was going to be included in the Macbook Pro at least a week ago, and had heard NOTHING about the iMac or Mac Pro. Anyone expecting different today should really re-examine their expectations. I understand complaints about a long period of lack of updates to those machines are valid, but is their place really here with this event, an event that had absolutely nothing to do with them?

I was planning to buy this new Macbook. But now I see that the one I want is too expensive. So I cannot afford to have this fancy new touch bar. On my budget, I get a boring "old style" Macbook. BOOO APPLE
