No, I can get a much cheaper price because I'm eligible for the Higher Education pricing. In the UK HE store you get 3 years warranty as standard and to upgrade to the full blown Applecare only costs about £60.
 
One question.

The UPS tracking system has been stuck in IMPORT SCAN since this morning and it's supposed to be in Netherlands, but in the Apple Store they say it's already prepared for the final delivery, kind of like it's coming right now.

What should I believe?
 
just checked tracking again. Export scan now been done, but delivery wont be until Monday 27th Oct.

Oh well...was hoping be here in time for weekend. Just have wait till next week but at least its on the way.;)

Give it one more day, because it will surely suffer an exception regarding customs soon...

Actually I was slightly wrong... the transaction hasn't actually gone through on my credit card it's still there as a pending transaction - so I guess they just reserve that amount when you place the order and then take it when it ships(?) Sucks a little as now I don't have much of my limit left to use and I don't know when I'll get the book... but on the other hand if they don't take the money until Nov I'll get an extra month to pay for it (I think).

No car unfortunately, but I'm happy to wait for it as it at least appears to be moving. Ours look to be going on the same flight. :D

Anyway you can't (as yet) get the 2.8 model in stores. I actually have the 2.53 already but decided I'd be better off going for the highest spec. I also saved £100 by ordering via quidco so kinda justified to myself that I'm only spending an extra £100 over the 2.53 model in the retail stores.

Here's hoping we get shipped today or early tomorrow... then it's just the waiting games with the courier! :rolleyes:

Mine's also showing "exception" right now, though it says it is on time and expected to be delivered tomorrow... I wonder how will it be here tomorrow if it hasn't already left holland.

Finally caved in and placed my order for a cto MBP.

Did you order from Amazon too? I really hope that they get them in quicker, so we can have them before the 11th!
 
Mine's still on "prepared for shipment", how long does it take for them to ship the darned thing? I want to get onto the tracking its progress part!!

mine took about 7hours to change to 'shipped' status.

we'll see. At moment my sights set on monday. thing is I probably wont get chance to play with it until tuesday evening :(
 
Well, Apple are still showing 23oct as my "estimated delivery date". UPS isn't specifying a date anymore (previously said 22nd.). Was shipped Monday morning. UPS' latest update still says it's in korea.

I want my lappy :(

If you read the meaning for the 'exception' state on the UPS site, it basically states that there may be a change to delivery schedule. So if it is already in Netherlands, does this mean I may get it sooner ?

Has you delivery date now changed?

Well, it's not in Netherlands, they're just processing papers, it will ship tomorrow to Korea and then to Poland (what takes about 15 hours) > Germany > Netherlands. That's where I am now. Mine was supposed to be here today but the UPS system says it'll be here tomorrow, so the Netherlands > Home trip should be the shortest.

Well, you see, I've been way too much following this thing! xDD
 
Man, you guys are lucky. I made a fatal mistake.

I ordered the day after.
I ordered 2.8, SSD

Ships: 26 Nov, 2008
Delivers: 04 Dec, 2008 !!!!!!

I rang apple and only found that out later. Lady said that she can setup a split ship on Friday 24th/10, so hopefully I will get it early November (trying to keep my expectations low).

P.s. - i'm in Netherlands.
 
the packet data at netherlands is them processing the customs data at netherlands (ahead of shipping) so that it has a smooth(ish) journey. Just after replying mine is now in Poland. Always the way! Perhaps it will be here tomorrow? Who knows.

thanks for the info. I think maybe I should stop checking the status of mine. I know it not going to help it get here any faster, but I just cant help it. ;)
 
Mines still not shipped and its been 8 days and 3 hours since i ordered it :(:( AHHHHHHHH!!! Ok im being impatient but come on... 3 hours over ;)
 
WHAT! ahhh mann i thought it was 8 normal days for it to be ready then the shipping says were business days :(:( now im sad!
