The last 30 days has been so bad!

Having a good role model

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
corinthians 12 7-10
Yeah, it was more of a joke. It wasn't a lesson in humility.

seems like Macbook Pro discussions are going to yield in "Slow news day" comments soon!

It is getting progressively more tiring to read every single article on this site get clogged up with the same repetitive whinges about Tim Cook and Apple. I've hardly logged on here all day - it feels like the enthusiasts are being chased away.

Don't you suppose it could be that the once steadfast Apple supporters are the ones whining or just not posting here anymore? If you read the news here at all, you'd know that the news isn't good and yes, PEOPLE ARE PISSED!

What are the "enthusiasts" supposed to be enthusiastic about? Emoticons? Certainly not new computer hardware.

Unfortunately for me, this update hasn't fixed my problem. My machine will not switch to the integrated GPU when running on battery power even though Activity monitor shows no apps requiring the high performance discreet gpu. The RP 460 drains my battery in 4-5 hours while reading iBooks with the screen brightness at 25%. If I weren't using this machine for work 11 hrs a day, i'd try to get it swapped for a new one.

:-/
Have you double checked that graphics switching has not been turned off? It will stay on the dedicated graphics all the time otherwise.

Stop ******** on Apple all the time MR posters. Apple employees are not stupid. Get some balance on how you view things..Gain some self control before you post

If this battery issue was in the Windows world, you'd be completely on your own. To those threatening to make the jump - go and good luck

First, get a grip. You sound stressed.

Second, ever read stories here where MR reports on f-up's by Microsoft or Samsung? The posts are all about crapping on MS and Samsung. You can't have it just one way...

How about people with angst unrelated to the thread in question post in an appropriate angsty titled thread, and people that are here to actually discuss stop feeding the trolls?

Except this is a positive news story and people still find a way to twist it as 'placebo effect' and 'my pixel is way better'

Apple forgot to mention that CPU and GPU performance were cut by 50% in order to get longer battery life. 10.12.3 will remove the activity monitor so people won't be able to tell... :)

Nope, others have already confirmed no loss in performance. Sad how you decided to make up stories just to have an excuse to bash Apple. Sad.

Lol, how would they know? I mean unless they are sitting their with a stopwatch it is all subjective. And now that Apple removed any time related battery life information, its even more subjective.

If you say that a laptop will last 3 hours but it dies after 1.5 then users will feel that the battery life doesn't last that long.

If you no longer show the laptop will last 3 hours and a user does 1.5 hours of work in blissful ignorance then it feels like it is lasting longer.

Time is all relative, especially when you don't know what time it is.

This was Apple's plan all along. Without any real evidence its all just circumstantial and the warped reality field Apple creates around its products is extended a little further.

Actually, it's possible to measure time without a stop watch. For example, if you know when you started using your computer and when the battery died, you can use the magic of subtraction to determine how long you used it for.

Maths is a really useful thing.

Pure PLACEBO! You remove the way to measure something and then people overestimate it. Devious psychological tricks 101. Well done Timmy!

Oh, you're totally right. The placebo effect is somehow able to literally lower the power/wattage values that show up in activity monitor. That's exactly how that works.

Just look up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_hysteria and you'll understand the current 'battery issue' completely.

When hysterical people become obsessed with what the 'time remaining' indicator says, it's probably for the best that this source of anxiety is removed. An indicator such as this almost impossible to make accurate as anyone who has ever watched a 'progress bar' knows all too well.

I use my MBP+TB every day, all day long for professional use and don't even think about the battery. I just plug it in when convenient, usually just overnight or occasionally if I won't be using it for more than an hour or so. I have never once had a low battery warning. Right now it's at 70% and I'm about to go to bed.

Telling Apple about this would be more productive than telling MR forums about it.

Sad that you have no sense of humor and/or don't know what the smiley face means. It was a humorous comment meant to parallel Apple removing the "time remaining" indicator because of battery issues. 17 users who "liked" my post got it.

Placebo effect

How would placebo effect show lower wattage for 1 task after the update than before? LOL, did you even think about what you wrote before you wrote.

Amused by the hate messages as I would have cheerfully in the "hate" crowd 3 years ago. Microsoft was a "serious" business OS and Apple (mac) was for delusional fanatics who really did not understand computing and were easily duped by candy colored marketing.

What a difference 3 years makes.

iPad is indeed the only things corporate customers talk about. Microsoft is sheep who enjoy being spied on...

Look... every new piece of hardware or software has growing pains.

On balance... over the many years bashing apple, the table has turned.

It may be marketing- but it is also true: the 2016 macbook pro *is* the finest computing device ever made. Full stop. *nothing* comes close.

Yes, specs count. 32gb would be nice. But omg... the device is otherworldly perfect. I got the 13-in fully loaded up to i7, 3.3ghz w 16 gb. And am honestly amazed (after USING) this device what a bargain it is.

If you simply look at the specs and dismiss this wonder of design and engineering you are doing yourself a huge disfavor.

The typing experience is beyond solid. The screen is mesmerizing. At some point, as a user, you begin to run out of adjectives while trying to describe this machine.

Then, after your efforts, you begin to see how others would call you a sheep, a zealot, a fool... etc...

If only they knew ;-)

Buy it. Use it. Then post your experience.

Not a placebo effect, the poor battery life was most obviously caused by the Estimated Time Remaining "bug". Get rid of the bug and problem solved...

The time remaining indicator was really useless unless you didn't change what you were doing. For example, if you were just usign Safari, the time remaining would likely be more than if you were using Final Cut Pro. So that number would change based on what app you were using. Most switch apps frequently, so the time remaining really only represents what you would expect if you remained doing what you were doing at the instant you looked at the number. I always found it useless.

I side with Apple on this..... Battery usage varies based on what task is done... If u don't do anything at all and just star at the desktop u'll get much more battery life than playing a movie.

Using iStat or other widgets is good, but i never rely on them, only Apple, because i've seen these wiglets are inaccurate at best...

Battery indicator on shows one ting, while Time remaining on widget tells u another.

I would still say all these Mac that have the issues are the ones who would be updating... I bet a clean install will fix this. But no one does it because it takes long time, and users just wanna get to work ASAP.
