I question your credibility. Not only because I have not come across these issues, but also because multiple hits for keyboards show they cost from $99-120... Something you claimed would cost $150... So either you're intentionally trying to mislead, or you don't know what you're talking about... Neither are good traits so I think i'll stick with my own experiences. Again, I appreciate your concern, but it isn't needed.

The $150 was thrown off the cuff without bothering to look. The original price was $129. I thought it was $149. Hardly a world of difference.

These are experiences from someone who started out very bullish, but has come to reality after having to live with them, and deal with Microsoft as a service provider for several years. Take it as you will.

I actually bought a 13" MBP maxed out on ram and 512GD flash drive. I ended up cancelling the order as the more I looked into it I could not get past:
- The cost $3260 CAD?????????
- The cost of dongles to use the devices I have
- The cost of a USB-C thumb drive/combo
- The fact I use a dual monitor stand/lap top stand with a keyboard and would never be able to use the new toolbar

To invest 4K in this was too much!

Enough...just enough. This is ridiculous.

I have shook my head passing posts for years saying how Tim is awful and Steve was iconic. I thought he just wasn't ever given a chance. This last Keynote was beyond the point of pathetic. I probably would have enjoyed it more if they released some new watch bands made out of recycled iPhone glass that their dumb robot took apart, that cut you every time you wore it, but as always was arsenic, lead and BPA free.

I am really starting to wonder how long Tim can ride on Jobs' coattails before he falls off. Give me a break Apple. One more iconic relic down the drain. Was this just as useless as Ma Bell and her audio cable? Were they doing this to better us all because the Apple alien gods, they found under the ground in the middle of their new spaceship, told them this was a good idea? Go away, Tim. Now. Leave now.

Wouldn't it have been better received if they just added $19 USD to the sale price of the MBP and had them ship with the extensions in the box?

Oh they did include it in the price. Many times over. And then they just decided...meeeh.

Is Tim getting increasingly desperate for profits? Apple has definitely changed from those 'friendly' underdog days.

Clearly so. They still talk the "customer experience" talk, but that's where it ends.

Remember, Apple: Greed will bring you down.

Steve at least cared about the customers. I think Tim is just seeing us as walking wallets.

I feel you all, but what the hell are you all gonna buy and work on instead? Dell XPS? Microsoft Surface Book? I was really schocked by the price and gimmicky touch bar, but i still don't see any other product equal in quality and service as what you get with the MBP.

You are right! Who wants to buy a windows machine?
So some of us will buy used! I just bought a 2012 15" macbook pro 2.7 quad I7 for $850 on eBay.
Its a little banged up but it works fine! I just put a 1 gig SSD boot drive in it and its crazy fast!
It has an SD card AND a DVD drive! So for now these machines will keep many of us going!
Hopefully Apple will realize the error of their ways? The current regime at Apple really are out of touch..
Tim Cook thinks an iPad will replace a macbook Pro? Out of touch.

the startup chime. that is gone too.
It was deemed "intrusive" :)

I can only hope that Apple has people on these forums reading these comments and are realizing they pushed it too far.

Another member on here hit the nail on the head in pointing out the sheer difference in response between Apple and Microsoft's event.

Some seriously messed up times this community is in.

The most apparent difference to me was Apple disabled comments on YouTube while Surface (MS) left theirs open.

That says more than any of the comments would have.

Indeed. The biggest obstacle in progress are BELIEVES of the mind... evolutionary resistance agains NEW.
All you cry babies will eventually get the 2016 model or newer when your old tech starts to crumble into oblivion.

I was ready with my credit card but I am not buying. Apple has not done well in the computer hardware area and I think this bad design will move into the OS where focus will be on how to make more money rather than a stable OS. Its almost they don't listen and don't care about pros. Is it better to carry a chic laptop with a bag of dongles? I would rather prefer a slightly thicker laptop rather all these accessories. Just look at their latest lineup itself. Does their iPhone 7 have a thunderbolt to lightning cable - so a product that was just released a month ago doesn't play nice with latest laptop. How do you explain that. I don't know which laptop to buy but I know not to buy this one.

Due to much improved upon cass latency on DDR3 Ram DDR4 offers little performance improvement whatsoever. Not a big issue actual at all.

It might be a bigger issue than you suggest, because the voltage on DDR-4 RAM is lower and would result in greater battery life. If performance is on par, as you suggest, then Apple chose to use DDR-3 despite the penalty to battery life. Given the stories so far, I am going to suggest the real reason Apple stayed with DDR-3 RAM is because it is cheaper than DDR-4 RAM. This is the cheapest made, most expensive, most compromised update I can recall. I am glad I had planned to sit this out before they were introduced. I give Apple until next fall to get their act together, then I leave.

Instead of immediately jumping on the 'greed' train, I will throw out a couple other potential reasons.

My guess is the lack of extension cord has more to do with 'going green'. Most people can get by without it, so including it in the box is wasteful in Apple's eyes. Not saying it is right, but I think that might be the reasoning. Or maybe they are using the 'Nintendo reasoning', where they are expecting most sales to be replacing old systems. So those people can take the extension cord from their old system to use with their new system.

The lack of glowing Apple logo? The only thing I can think of (other than simply reducing manufacturing/parts cost) is to allow the screen to be thinner. Not sure it was worth it to remove something so iconic though.

How about taking 30 seconds to explain that in the presentation. They took so much time for the stupid DJ show and touch bar. How about providing a coupon in the box saying if you really need it we will give it to you for free but be a responsible citizen and don't take if you don't need. If going green was the criteria then how do you explain the need of at least 5 types of dongles which will kill the environment anyway.

I rarely see those extension cords used, especially now that all-day battery life is pretty much expected.

Could it be that Apple is trying to be green here? Less plastic and metal for the landfills? Maybe?

Absolutely not. They would have made a laptop that can last more than 2 years if they were so worried about greening. With 16GB ram most pros will have to buy a new one in less than 2 years. They would have made the ram replaceable. You can do a lot if you really care for the planet but this is plain simple greed.

Am I the only person who still has my MBA extension cord still lying in the original packaging untouched?

I've never used mine. Had the cords sitting in their boxes for both an Air and a 2013 Pro. So I can't say I will miss it. Glad it will produce less waste in the world as well.

Also the new power plug for the new Pros is great! No longer having to replace a power cable that wore out with an expensive new charger. Just swap the USB-c cable with a new, much less expensive cable that can be boring get at any electronics store.

Good. I put a sticker over mine. It's free advertising and says 'come steal me.'
Jobs would have done this sooner. It's more Zen now.

animals = nature

+they're already dead. they don't need their skin - hello!!

Have you been living under a rock? You believe those animals were found dead somewhere and apple decided to use their skin? Animal farming is the biggest issue for climate change - Meat, dairy and then leather. Hello to you too

Some valid reasons to remove the glowing logo:

- battery life is now at a premium. why waste it?
- the mbp is getting thin enough that the excess light might actually affect the screen display (which would just make all the visual upgrades moot).
- the "Apple" reason: courage :p seriously though, it's getting a little tired. A lot of people I know cover theirs with a more personalized sticker anyway. Although I guess for people who see their mbp as a status symbol it's like shooting yourself in the leg. *shrug*

The extension cable thing does bother me though. I absolutely use it for everything, and to charge an extra $19 for such a fundamental, useful piece of equipment is just greedy.

Not sure if anyone noted this, but another thing they don't include is a microfiber cloth. Why? It's like shortening the watch charger from 2 m to 1 m. It barely costs any less and the impression the customer gets isn't as great.

For some reason, that was always my favorite small accessory that shipped with their products, whether it was in the 1st/2nd gen iPhones, iPod Touches, MacBooks, or Apple Watches ($1000+ models).

Man.... I wish there was a 15" version WITHOUT that stupid touch bar.

Watching that event on Thursday I'm just like "Holy crap these people are so old!!"

Clearly they're out of touch with what people want...

just wait it out, the price will drop with falling sales
As I sit here with a mid-2014 MBP 15" Retina that couldn't run Safari on YouTube pages due to the big GUI crash issue that would lock up the machine when closing tabs or windows (until a couple of months ago when it was finally fixed) and is NOW is suffering from the well-documented issue where the touchpad won't depress due to the 2 year old battery bloating and pushing up from underneath, I find it hard to justify the old cost, let alone the new one.

My old Mac Pro (cheese grater) was a power-horse...one minor issue after 8 years. My G4 tower never had an issue...my G3 Tower before that...never an issue.

If Apple would stand behind issues at least, the cost would make sense. At this point, I don't feel like I'm getting the same premium product for the premium price.

when you have 6 to 10 people on set or on location with their laptops for 12+ hours, they all have to plug in. its a temp, thrown together situation, not a multitude of readily available, conveniently located outlets. that extra 6 or so feet of cord is usually necessary.

when you have to bring in a temp team to deal with a specific issue, you put them where you can, maybe around the lunch tables. again, not a multitude of readily available, conveniently located outlets. that extra 6 or so feet of cord is usually necessary.

when you are working from home but you need room to spread out, so you relocate to the kitchen table. again, not a multitude of readily available, conveniently located outlets. that extra 6 or so feet of cord is usually necessary.

not everyone works (or plays) in the same way. some folks get along just fine with a core 2 duo MacBook from 2008, others want as much RAM, CPU, and GPU power as can be had (and will often wish for more). some folks can do what they need to do on an overnight recharge, some will run dead by noon without plugging in.

some folks have an optimized situation where everything is just as it needs to be and others have to take the situation they are in and make it work. for the latter, having a longer cord, having a plug that sits securely in an outlet (an outlet that may get kicked or pulled on, that a power brick would fall out of), is an absolute necessity.
