...(Backlit Apple logo) Pretty silly indeed....

I think touchscreen on a regular laptop is a stupid idea...
"What you are failing to notice" is what others like is "silly and a stupid idea".
However, I think people are failing to notice how Apple found a very nice middle ground with the touch strip

"What you are failing to notice" is what you see as a "nice middle ground", others consider to be "silly and a stupid idea".
(Btw, if you like it, you better learn its name: Touch Bar, and not a "strip", like Gaza).

Apple is losing their mind. No cable extension? Greed.
Sorry I will keep my MBP 2015 for quite awhile.
Are you seriously saying that having to spend a few extra dollars (whether right or wrong for it to be required) would stop you from getting a new computer? That's absolute nonsense and completely unbelievable.

It's not about money. It's about the pure cheek of Apple not providing an accessory that at the very least should be mandatory.

It's a matter of principle. If you fail to see this, then jog on back to your Apple Fangirl club.

I hope, just hope, that once their space ship Campus is finished, they can actually start making great products without the inclusions (which, of course includes those with thinner wallets).
Otherwise, iOut.

Apple already makes the best products in every category. If you are not happy now, you'll never be happy.

This just confirms that Tim Cook is and always was a bean counter.

Clearly he doesn't understand what the company should be about. When you position yourself as an aspirational, innovative brand you don't just start skimping on the very things that set you apart from the competition.

Are you a bot as do you know you have just used "Apple Fangirl" in this thread and I claim my 1000 trope points.

Apple issues press statement - "We got rid of the extension because there are way too many of these cables out there and only 3% people use them. We did it for the planet so that there is no more wastage. We care about the environment"

This would be a very reasonable explanation and one I'd hope most sensible people would support.

Am I the only person who still has my MBA extension cord still lying in the original packaging untouched?

No, you are like 99% of others. That's why Apple is cutting down on the wastefulness of shipping these cables in the box to everyone. I think it's a very bold and positive change to cut down on waste.

I'm confused here, forgive me.
Are you suggesting that I should not be allowed to an opinion?
Or I am allowed to have one but should avoid expressing it when it goes against yours?

Just to be on the same page, you know.

If you spec the updated Surface Book with 512 hard drive and 16 gb ram and I7, you end up at $2799. Pretty similar.

We built a professional music studio using a repurposed 2012 27 inch iMac. We just added more ram. How many on here wouldn't be better off buying last years model for a discount instead of the newest model? You can spend more money on ram and a bigger hard drive instead of a spec bump you will rarely notice in your programs?

I get everyone's frustration, if for no other reason than because the more you try to rationalize the thought of going to the competition the more you realize you'll be stuck with windows 10, which isn't even trusted by windows pro users.

Until android and windows improves, apple will continue to have weak hardware upgrades. Maybe I'll be wrong with iPhone 8. We will see.

I'm in the need for new macs for my 2 kids - 13 and 14...getting a lot of helpful advice. I bought one LY (2015 13" retina MBP with I7 and 16GB)...debating on going with 2 new ones (standard I5 and 16GB) costing approx 4500 with tax and Applecare (with the Education Disc) or should I go with ones like I bought last year and save several hundred??

Steve Jobs also did this-

pismo-powerbook.jpg

I had one PowerBook G3 Pismo like this back in 1999.
The reason for this was simple: when holding the PB in your hand, and walking, the Apple logo was in the right direction , but when was open in a table was upside down :)
Only with the G4 start the discussion if the apple in G3 was correct or no

Thats probably how Apple execs are thinking when making these type of business decisions and incrementally laying more burdens on their customers . But still a person may walk away from the table not because of few dollars but looses loyalty for whatever reasons. Its not only Apple that makes a "new computer" you know?

It's a standard power cable, get one from amazon for $4

Yes, it's the same light and the Apple is translucent. Turn down your brightness and shine a flashlight through the logo. You'll see it on the screen. The point is external light will shine through and bleed to the screen.
its not the standard power cable. stop spreading misinformation

You crazy irritating idiots literally complain about anything and everything - even if it's in direct contradiction to the last thing you whinged about on some other pointless thread.

Most of you are truly showing your poor mental abilities and lack of critical thinking.

It's actually addictive to read. Both funny and scary at the same time - to realise exactly how utterly misinformed, sometimes baltently stupid people are. Especially those interested in technology, a group of people whom one would otherwise presume to be intelligent.

Koolaid drinkers like you are now in the minority.
Apple has jumped the shark with this blatant rip-off and neglect of their computers.
I suggest you take your blinders off and see what everyone else is seeing. The last thing Apple needs are more blind fanboys
