...especially when they ordered 100.000 15.4 displays in april (!) they will come up with something pretty soon and i bet they won't cut them to fit 13.3' notebooks :)
Agreed, if we presume Apple did indeed order a bunch of 15.4 LED displays in April. :)

Amazon is no longer shipping the Apple MBP C2D 2.16GHz. I posted this yesterday, but it seems to have gone unheeded. Look, a whole $5.99 savings over the list price!

And take a look at the delivery dates for the MBP C2D 2.33GHz on Amazon. Amazon lists the MBP as being in stock, but..

Want it delivered Tuesday, June 5? Order it in the next 64 hours and 1 minute, and choose One-Day Shipping at checkout. See details

Good news is on the horizon. A little late for my tastes, but good news nonetheless.

- As many of you are waiting for Santa Rosa, I honestly do not really care about Santa Rosa being included. However, I think that Apple needs to higher the gap between the MacBooks and MacBook Pros and so a speed bump seems to be a logical consequence.

Well, as fas as I know the only way to more differentiate the MBP from the MB would be to use Santa Rosa, now that the MB have 2.16GHz cpus. Apple needs to go at least 2.20GHz on the $1999 MBP model to make a small difference in speed. Other than that, Santa Rosa would bring a faster FSB 800 vs. 667 and Turbo Memory (if it does any good). The other part is graphics, there are some new mobile GPUs from nvidia and ATI, and nvidia just released the nForce 100 chip for Intel's 965 plateform that allows MXM graphics modules to be paired in SLI mode. Those MXM modules can already be found on the 24" iMac (one module).

This is my guess for the next MBP:
- 2.20/2.40GHz cpu
- Santa Rosa chipset (800FSB)
- Turbo Memory (if it makes sense)
- nvidia gpu(s)
the rest of the specs would stay mostly the same.

... I've just read joeshell383 post and I agree with most of it even the iMac and displays part.:)

Well that "Want it delivered by June 5th?" bit is just because if you ordered now, it wouldn't ship until Monday the 4th since Amazon doesn't ship on weekends. :)

Somebody thinks Apple will be adding an HDMI output to the macbook pro?
A HDDVD or Blue Ray writer would also be nice...

If they do offer a blue-laser (that could be BluRay or HDDVD) drive, that would definately not be standard. It would be an option. Maybe even only on the 17".

That technology is still rather pricey, and getting it in a small enough form factor for the MBP would be a pricey challenge.

HDMI, Definately possible. MacBook Pros usually get the really good stuff before anything else.

this is the specs i want

2.2/2.4GHz C2D
2GB Ram (BTO to 4)
nvidia 8600 GT
160GB HD (BTO to 250)
LED Backlighting
8x DL DVD+/-RW (BTO to BD-RW)

Why HDMI when they already have DVI? Seems like an extra unnecessary port to me.

A lot of people think they will upgrade the HD's, and make 160GB the default size. But I was wondering, if they put in a 160GB 7,200 rpm HD, does that severely reduce the battery life? I don't think I'll be unplugged TOO much so it shouldn't be a big problem, but I'm just wondering how significant the loss of battery life is. Is it feasible for them to have an option for a 200GB 7,200 rpm HD also? Or would that just be 5400 rpm (or even 4000)?

There is always a twist to the rumour predictions and their outcomes. Maybe we will also get the new imac June 5th along with the MaccBook pro and the new ultra portable at WWDC with Tower updates.

HMDI could handle the digital video and digital audio signals, whereas DVI can only handle the digital video signal, requiring separate connections for audio.
Can HDMI handle dual-link DVI or would the DVI port need to remain for that?

oh good grief! as if the anxiety level wasn't high enuff already - now I'll be glued to the computer all day the 5th!!:)

you and me both man. the 5th and the 11th-15th haha.

maybe 5th = macbook pro and

the 11th = imac. both are way overdue for an update.

SR!!!

Is anyone confused as freaking hell?

What is the general consensus?

If new MBP's come out on Tuesday will this include ALL of them or is there a chance a "One more thing" will happen with a new small form factor MBP.

I think this would be stupid as hell because Apple would be cutting into this new models sales by releasing other computers right before it instead of concurrently.

Also, I am not sold that the reason they have to come out is because of the promotion. They can word it in such a way that it include any MBP be it a current gen or future gen.

Good question. Based on what Steve Jobs said to Walt Mossberg at "D" I'd say there is something "Mac" coming at WWDC other than just software. I suggest anyone considering a purchase wait until after the keynote to push the button. If MBPs are bumped this Tuesday, it's probably unlikely we'd see another portable the following week, but who knows?

For that reason, I hope they wait to update the MBP's until WWDC, because I don't want to be behind a bunch of other MBP buyers if it's released June 5 but I wait until WWDC.

Also I'd like to see Apple incorporate some sort of fingerprint reader for security purposes. Most laptop manufacturers provide this feature on their business laptops, and it works brilliantly.

I would never use it but it would be kick ass if the scaner was :apple: on the top. Would be crazy cool.

I would think you have a size in mind and that if the 15s and 17s are updated on the 5th, you could go ahead and order. It's likely that any brand new portable would be a 13 or smaller.

I understand waiting though, regardless of what you have in mind. I'm contemplating a Mac purchase soon and don't have any idea yet what I'll get. It's likely going to be a mini or a MacBook but if Apple releases a cool new 13" MPB, I might go for one of those.

Hopefully Apple will do another minor Napa MBP update (as it did with MB), but also offer 200MB 7200RPM hard drive BTO.

Rumor has it, Apple *MAY* be releasing the "Big Mac" to replace the mac mini and the all new "Mac Griddle" may soon be on it's way (possibly as soon as WWDC).

Time to break out the checkbook AGAIN!
