All this fanboy shi* is getting old. Grow up kids;)

W7 is a great OS that supports most HW under the sun...sorry folks, but even a spec'd out MP would get PWND by a similarly priced PC.

OSX+iLife is a much better computing experience than W7...and Apple's HW design is second to none (though its guts are pretty blase).

Pepsi or Coke folks...what do you like?

Coke, Diet Coke I TASTE A DIFFERENCE OK?!

Anyways, ill be looking into getting a new MBP in the next few months if this is the change we all hope for, if not ill stick with my late 2008 MBP until a design change (or a really large spec boost).

You hit the nail on the head...If I buy a CD and make 3 copies for my family members (not charging them of course) it's completely legal and ethical.

Actually, it's neither.

First, it's not legal:

17 USC 106

Subject to sections 107 through 122, the owner of copyright under this title has the exclusive rights to do and to authorize any of the following:
(1) to reproduce the copyrighted work in copies or phonorecords;

Nor is it fair use if you and your family makers are listening to their copies at the same time.

It's also not ethical. You own the copy, not the phonorecord encoded on it. You have no right to copy it except for fair use purposes.

He's in "time out." So he won't be responding :)

When was the last time someone was arrested for burning a CD they bought for a family member?

Oh, and while you're at it...
-In Los Angeles, you cannot bathe two babies in the same tub at the same time.
-Peeling an orange in your hotel room is banned in California

Do I need to continue?

So if the law is not enforced, the law doesn't exist? Fact is, copying a cd and giving it to a family member is illegal. I cited the law.

Well, you are being a little particular. Broadly speaking those probably could be called PC systems (even though they do not run Windows) as opposed to Mac systems. Unless those are some RISC-based systems which I doubt. Most likely they are from IBM, Dell or HP.

broadly speaking a Mac could be/should be called a PC system

I think reproduction and sales of an item are illegal...but for something I buy and allow my family to listen to...I don't think that reproduction...it's more of a "making it accessible" to everyone who pitched in to buy it...I'm sure computer companies would have been sued a long time ago for placing a device specifically for reproducing music...w/e all I know is I want one to be on these new MBP's.

So many things that Windows does right. Vector graphics, TRIM support, Open GL 3, massive flexibility relative to OS X.

Ah, it's "100% legal and ethical" under the "don't get caught" clause.

That's some strong idiot you've got going on right there.

Yes, you do need to continue because now you're just making **** up. But by all means, please do prove it.

So a "PC" that doesn't run Windows is different than a "Mac" that doesn't run Windows... how?

Making a copy is making a reproduction. The law is clear. It's also plain English. And computer companies Haven't been sued because cd writers have substantial noninfringing uses, and the Betamax decision is precedent.

I believe reproduction of the media to distribute to anyone is illegal, but it's not illegal to let your family listen to your purchased music.

Normally if you play the music for others you will need to pay performance licensing fees to ASCAP, but these fees don't count if it's considered a private performance, which includes private parties, such as at weddings, and obviously within your private residence.

I'm not sure I like this.. I have a Sandforce based drive, I don't want any sub par ssd that was made in some Korea sweatshop

My Computer boots in 13 sec.. I don't want that to change

and it should be 40 Gigs.. to add "breathing room" for the SSD and apps

yeah, yeah, yeah. ok, you got the best already, i got it.
just stop talking.

So what you're telling me is that 99.9% of Americans have broken the law and not gotten in trouble for it?

I think I need to run for President and change that law so we're all not criminals...thug life.

At this point I think there is another possibility that you guys are missing. To put it simply maybe the flash is there to act as a backing store for the system RAM. This would allow for near instant restarted to the exact place you left off. This solutions would require ZERO power when the unit is off. Makes perfect sense considering the RAM sizes in today's portables.

In otherwords the flash isn't there for any sort of system storage. It simply there to facilitate fast restarts back to the same context when the machine was shut down.

Cool analysis. It will be interesting to see.
