Right on the frontpage it says:
"And since that time we've similarly heard that resellers have been essentially told that Apple notebook updates are unlikely before October."
No one has a real clue. September, October, November... whatever. We just have to wait... and wait.
Much as I'd love to see alu MBs at Let's Rock, Let's Face It, SJ wouldn't want to spread the attention that thin. New iPods and notebooks at the same time would pretty much make the iPods drown in the "enthusiast" circles... Sure, mainstream media would pick up on the pods, but we would all be focusing on the macs, right?
Why is there on each forum I visit always 1 guy that knows when the new MB and MBP are presented. I read a lot of fora, but I think I already heard every date between today and 02/2009. I hope that this joshi is right, but I have my concerns. Let's say that if there are no new MB/MBP by the end of september, joshi is going to buy us all a drink in a bar of his choice

Apple Store is now down so I guess we just wait to see if Apple will give us any 'Magic' today!

Macbook announcement today Sept 9th
For what it is worth, I talked to manager of local Apple store. He said policy is to neither confirm or deny if any NEW products are in stock. He also said he is free to confirm or deny if a product is not in stock.
So I asked him if I was at apple store today at 12:00 (my local time for the announcement) could I take home a new macbook pro? He said no, and to stay home .. unless you wanted to purchase something else.
He also said that if the Macbook / Macbook Pro was announced today, then it would be news to him since he doesn't have any in stock, and he is free to tell his business customers as a service that they do not have any new MBP models in stock, and to not come to the store expecting to pick one up immediately after announcement.
So there you have it, very unlikely MBP will be announced today, but it is still a possibility.

The ipods are nice, but where's the Macs? Hey Apple? Remember those computers? You know, the ones that kept you in business for the first 20 years? The ones gaining market share? Increasing revenue? Kicking Windows butt? Yeah those.

Well Steve Jobs apperantly just said "thanks for coming". So it looks like we gotta wait (again)
well at least we know that a design change won't happen before next year, it is likely that a hardware upgrade is coming soon.
Suck it up. September is iPod month and always has been. Did you really expect computers at an event with an iPod interface as its invitation? If so, you need to learn a bit more about Apple.
I'm pretty surprised they didn't update today. School has started in most of Europe so I'd thought they would try to release it as soon as possible. All their competitors have released new laptops. They are losing money and will be losing more for every day the update is prolonged. I dont know what date to hope for anymore, I was pretty sure it was going to be announced today.

Feb 08 came, and we were both disappointed, but i can't wait anymore so i plunged in and bought the current MBP -never been happier..

That's great. I know friends that works for Apple as well, my girlfriend works as a genius, my friend is a designer. Guess what? They have the same opinion as me.
