Plus, Apple was seriously burnt at their last little iPod do, the one with the hi fi and whatnot, nobody wants another underwhelmaton, least of all Jobs.

Yixian has a great point, but I think a new macbook/pro update is wishful thinking for the 9/9 event. Strategically, the best time to relase new comps would be october/november for the holiday shopping season. Septemeber is probably too early in their books.

Actually there's still a crap load of students waiting for new APple notebooks before the start uni. It's really bizarre Apple haven't updated already tbh, this is such a huge season for laptop sales.

I wonder what toshcomputers say about October/November? ;)

I'd still bet that holiday season mac computer sales figures are higher than the university shopping season sales figures. I have nothing to back this up, it's just a guess :p

I don't understand releasing in time for the holiday season, switch it with the ipods? people get ipods for Christmas. Not f***ing 2 grand laptops.

Unless I'm getting old and kids are really moving up from getting bikes for Christmas...

No I totally agree with you. And what parents give their college bound child an iPod instead of a laptop? This event tomorrow should be for Macs! **** iPods! The market is saturated, we don't need more!

What I'm hoping for is that apple will rock big time: a.k.a. update everything in the "Buyers Guide" that says "Don't buy, updates soon". And that it will be updates worthy of waiting for.
(And of course that there are no big software or hardware bugs!)

Lmfao, you're kidding right? If they do a major update or introduce the a new product thats were the MOST bugs will be. Hard to do I'm sure, but good advice is always avoid the 1st edition of any electronics. The first revision after that is usually a good bet to be much more bug-free.

Engineering teams & Advertising teams don't always work on the same timeframes and often products are pushed out the door too early to make a release deadline.

Thats the most logical statement I've heard in this entire thread!
:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:
I agree completely they have it ass-backwards.

LoL I see some of you guys would explode from the extreme dosage of self entitlement parents preach to their kids around here.

Some of these (parents) are so affluent they get their (elementary/middle school) kids Macbook Pros, pimped out iMacs and of course iPhones.

Then again, you may have gotten a bike for christmas, while the neighbor next to you got a car, and the neighbor on your other side got nothing.

Guess who looks well off then :)

Oh my goodness! A parent giving the best they can afford to their CHILDREN?!?

WTF!!

:::phones child services:::

As I said before, my uni is not getting the new laptops this semester (we have special offer sales every fall and spring, say 20% cheaper incl. apple care), and the guy I got that email from is in direct contact with Apple Switzerland. So I really doubt that they will release it tomorrow. And if they do, I'll be glad to stay with a PC, because I would never support such marketing politics.

Ugh!!! I am so sick of this, I was going to buy a MacBook pro in may, but based on this stupid site I decided to wait until July fir the update, then until August, then until September because when I said that I was just going to give in and buy it everyone said wait! Wait! Wait! Because it will be September for sure!

Now it is not coming til October!!!! I am so sick of this!!! I don't know what to do!

? Obviously there isnt many kids getting MBP's, I was just questioning when people say they will release it in time for Christmas, such a expensive product is often bought on your own, or help from a parent, not like "dadaaa!! MBP!" Unless you're very lucky ;).

But Apple know best when to release their products!

Yes, do not doubt the great leader!

-_- Apple is not beyond criticism.

If you needed a computer back in May, then you should have bought one then. I bought my macbook in August: you don't have to do what everyone else tells you to.

I SUPPOSE they know best.. they are making it after all. Id rather have it fully finished than all of us go "WTF, SEPTEMBER 9TH NOW!" and they hand us a empty aluminium shell. I hate the whole apple leadership ****, but at the moment the MBP seems like the best choice for a laptop, and I just happen to have got caught in this annoying wait. That is all.

Well, obviously they want to get rid of all the old models first in September and release the new ones just in the beginning of October.

Why is that? I don't really understand your thinking.

Plus it's business only.

The actual promotion is for 0% finance on the Macbook Pro for September only. Why would I be asked to push this promotion aggressively if they were going to update them in the middle of the promo? Can't see it happening.

Ah right ok, I see your point.

Well maybe they'll announce em or.. bah forget it.

So lame. What a complete failure of a back to school showing from Apple.

Yeah you are right. Seems to me that Apple does not care too much about their computer line up nowadays. ALL they are interested in is making money, NOT giving value for money.
